Yea I've heard far more uncivilized things from geezers than the young. Not that the young aren't really good at saying those types of things, it's just the elderly seem to feel like they don't have to pretend to be decent anymore.

I have a lot of piercings and tattoos, and the group of people that stares daggers at me the most are the elderly. They seem to be offended by my very existence. I realize this seems unrelated but I think it is indicative of the attitude of the elderly in general.

Not to mention some of the very selfish opinions on life many elderly have, and the inherent racism that seems so common.

Not disagreeing that what you say is true in some cases, but I think you would be surprised, a lot of the older crowd here are I bet superannuated hippies, who would be very comfortable with you as you are. Unfortunately, after the 70s a lot of society took a hard swing to right and extreme conservatism.

I'm used to the EQ playerbase, which was a lot of military and neo-conservatives. Extremely hostile to any manner of disagreement while constantly peppering the chat with neo-conservative comments. I admit I am easily baited. It went as far as death threats, so now I just assume everyone is hyper conservative.

I don't have any particular hatred for old people, and I realize it might have sounded like that. The elderly are a very vulnerable segment of the population. I don't think too many of the vulnerable ones will be the ones savvy enough to use the internet effectively and compete in an mmo though, however, I could be wrong.

18-25 is not only larger than the other options, it also includes all the under 18's that aren't brain dead. The results are therefore massively skewed. Wonder how many that vote under 18 will even post anything.

It includes an extra 2 years, it's not that much larger. I would expect it to be more populated though, this is the segment that hasn't moved out of the house yet, gotten a job, finished school, etc. They generally tend to have more leisure time.

And yes, I'm jealous of the leisure time. Not so much jealous of living with mommy.

I know there is a younger crowed that plays MMO's, usually in the high teens with a dash of under 13's you come across now and then but in my experience the majority of MMO players have been 25-40 range. I think this was more like 30-40 range about 10 years ago when MMO's were not as wide spread and easily accessible. Perhaps it was due to the monthly fee, who knows. That is the age group I expected to be more prominent especially in a game like TES.

ESO isn't rated 18+. The M rating is 17+; 18+ would be AO . Also, it's 16+ in Europe. There is absolutely no problem with people under 18 joining the forum.

Besides, ESRB rating is not legally binding in the USA. Stores aren't required to enforce it, even thought the majority do. Moreover, an M rating doesn't mean children can't play a game - only that they can't buy it. It is their parents' decision to let them play. When creating an account, you don't have to be 18 to sign the ToS, you can have a parent or a guardian take responsibility for you.

I'm a girl geezer (I'm not sure female type people can be geezers) and was a nerd before the word was invented. I've always played games but the ones that need electricity are towards the end of that timeline. My son introduced me to Morrowind and that was all I needed to keep running.

Cannot see any problem that older and younger players play together .. I often play along with delightful youngsters in games like TDU2, Guildwars2, DiRT2 / 3 and so on.
Prejudice against someone I think is nonsense .. everyone has their own way of life .. no one should be judged or be looked down upon.

I am over 35. What I find amusing is, there have been times where some kid told me "Dude, aren't you a little old to be playing games". Listen up kiddos. My generation and the generation just before me, were THE original gamers (OGs?). If it not for us, the newer generations wouldn't have what we have today. Gaming isn't about age anymore. For some of us older folks, it's an escape from work and kids trying to make our hair turn gray. It's also nostalgic. I can't "raid" like I used to, but I still enjoy the 5 man dungeons etc that can be done without blowing a ton of my time that I should be with my family.

So remember. The next time you insult a gamer for their age, keep in mind many of the devs are my age and older, some of the greatest gaming minds are my age and older and a large reason why the gamers of today are able to enjoy these games are because of people my age and older.

Some of these young players are really freakin good too. It is really common to be destroyed in PvP by a 13 year old just as common as it is to be destroyed by a 40+ year old.

Have respect for all gamers!!
