Does increasing recipe quality points improve items from hirelings?

I asked this in game to my trade guilds and got all kinds of different answers.

So I'm asking here, if I put more points into recipe quality, will my provisioning hireling bring back better ingredients, perhaps even tomatoes?! So far I just have two of three points in recipe quality, figuring I'd wait to put the third point in until if and when I get high level purple recipe. But I may put point in early if I can start stalking up on ingredients via hireling. Thanks!

All that matters for hirelings is the points you put into. Tomatoes and oats start coming at 2/3. I have an alt with no recipe quality points, but 2 in hirelings and she seems to get the same sort of stuff.

You can get ANY Provision ingredient from ANY level of Hireling. This difference is, just like with the other Hirelings, 1/3 has a very low chance of having Tier 3 ingredients, 2/3 has a better chance and 3/3 has the best chance.

Well I asked because that's not true with my clothing hireling, who brings in stuff which matches the level of my clothing skill.

No it doesn't. The improvement materials are not respective of your Clothing, Woodworking, Blacksmithing or Enchanting Rank (level), only the raw unrefined/refined base material. People need to start thinking of the Tier 3 Provision ingredients as improvement materials from other professions. Tier 3 ingredients are those that only the Purple, and to a lesser degree, Blue recipes use. These are things like Oats, Potato, Saaz Hops. etc.

If you want to get really specific there's 4 categories of Tiered Provision ingredients.

    Primary Ingredients (Tier 1) [Pork/Liver/Venison/Beef/etc]
    Secondary** Ingredients (Tier 1) [Meal/Broth/Lard/Drippings/etc]
    Blue Recipes (Tier 2) [Salt/Red Wheat/Onion/etc]
    Purple Recipes (Tier 3) [Garlic/Pepper/Tomato/Hops/etc]

** = For the most part these are your vendor type Ingredients.

Tier 1 = Base stock of the meal, the meat & potatoes if you will.
Tier 1-2nd = Binder for the meal, what it's cooked in/with.
    Tier 2 = Tier 1+1-2nd + one more ingredient.
    Tier 3 = Tier 1+1-2nd + two more ingredients.

The "Secondary" Ingredients are really the primary ingredients as they are available throughout the lands as a base and viable for meals per fifteen levels of recipe whereas the "Primary" Ingredients are faction based and leveled to every 5 levels. As a "for instance" until you reach Stormhaven, Grahtwood and Deshaan, you will find the base ingredients of meal, drippings, thin broth for food and brown malt, corn mash and wine grapes for drink, to combine in recipes with the faction ingredients.

Sorry, DeLindsey, it's a minor thing to gripe about, I know.
Oooh look, lot's of Butterflies! Wait! Butterflies? Get out of here Sheo, stop bugging me!
