Mac client is not on Steam - why?

Are there any particular reasons why only the Windows version is available on Steam, and not the one for OS X? And if so, what are they? Will it be added later?
Given Valve's recent push for Linux, I'd have thought that they would've fallen over themselves to bring the Mac client into the fold, too.
I cannot help but wonder...

How come Steam lets me download the client on my mac if I can't play it anyways? Did I really download the hefty game just to delete it? Should I wait for a patch rather than reinstall later?0 -

These questions are better addressed to @Valve_GabeNewell. No-one at ZOS should be able to answer them.

Hopefully they will sort the Mac client for Steam as they said they would and it will be available also.
