Why does werewolf even have a weakness?

The idea of the vamp/ww weakness was to offset its other benefits.

With vamp this makes perfect sense - it has lots of benefits.

With werewolf, a form weaker and less flexible than not being in werewolf, it makes no sense at all.

Look, I get it - it's a fun RP skill, not a combat tool. But for those of us who enjoy the RP aspect of werewolf, why must we be weaker in Cyrodiil because of this?

Obviously in pvp it's pointless having ww slotted in the ultimate. Can't we remove it and lose the weakness too?

Yes, I hear you, it's a curse etc etc. But this is also a game. And the price of enjoying a fun bit of lore in pve comes at a high price in pvp, for no apparent reason. It's not even as though ww being weaker to poison than humans is even thematic... since when was that a part of lycanthropy?

In Elder Scrolls lore lycanthropy is not a curse. The Daedra are active among the world of mortals. Hircine thought he was doing a favor for mortals by gifting them with a powerful form. Notice I said "powerful" not balanced or inferior. ZoS's idea for werewolves is messed up and needs to change. People who seek out Hircine's gift want power, not weaknesses.

Hircine only curses those who reject the gift of lycanthropy. So why doesn't the weaknesses scale from 0-50% depending on how much they fed. If a werewolf satisfies their hunger for flesh then they should be healthy and have zero weaknesses. If a werewolf ignores their hunger for flesh then they should be cursed by Hircine to make them vulnerable to weaknesses. It is either hunt or be hunted.

well, i do agree that if some one turned warewolf in front of me i would be stunned and a bit taken back in unawares.
if infact that would be the realistic responce then i would agree to making the warewolf have atleast a 20 second long invincable, and unstopable power.

Then again, TES games until now have been single-player games where often the content level-scaled to the player. Turning the character into a werewolf with tons of benefits and few (if any) weaknesses didn't impact other -people-.

Now, with the addition of other players in the game-world, you just can't do that. Making werewolves 'powerful' would literally make it a requirement for everyone to become one - or they automatically become second-class citizens in a game-world that is -not- supposed to revolve around werewolves/vampires.

This is why I've always voiced my opinion in making the two races cosmetic-only. Yes, you can 'look different' and have the cool ability to transform into a werewolf/vampire - but that's it. For balance reasons, if they give powers to either of those races, then the detriments should equal it out, regardless how they are handled in the single-player games.

These type of ideas are what lead game design down a destructive path. It is best for each skill line to have a unique feel and strengths. I know I do not want an OP werewolf skill line. Neither do I want the werewolf skill line to just be a cosmetic difference. Exaggerated weaknesses are what imbalance gameplay as well as exaggerated power.

I personally love the ability to become a werewolf in almost all TES games, but this is kinda ridiculous. The game shouldn't have to have werewolves/vampires be OP or UP(under-powered), there should be an advantage for those infected with the diseases. The power is just another reason to become one! So I stand with those who want more power to the ww/vamps!

last night i saw a warewolf in a HUGE amount of people and he was about to charge into the crowd and begin DEVOWERING people but before he got to them he was killed by just 2 low level 30 people (the warewolf was a vet 12)

this really angered me and put me in shock and awe.

1st of all hes a warewolf and i am NOT nor do i want to be a warewolf because i am indeed a vampire for life no matter what so i see warewolf as a enemy and no bias here by me because the beasts need to burn in my opinion.

2nd the fact that warewolf was not large and HUGE in size made me a bit upset because warewolfs should be huge in size

3: warewolf means you ARE infact overpowered and Should be extreme hard to kill, i mean, cmon people "warewolf"? that alone should shock and stunn people litteraly ingame for atleast 2.9 seconds at just the sight of a warewolf!

4: ware wolf in eso is just way too weak and low damage. they should have Incredible survivability for atleast 60 seconds of 5000 health points and only allowed to turn wolf at night and while among alot of people.

5: once you revert Back into human or other natural form then you should have 2 hours real time ingame weakness to everything due to your returning form wore you out completely. and make you VERY easily killed by anything and every one.
