I don't like that idea way to much sharing things as it is
The bank like you said. If you want you can add guilds. I don't mind getting the achievements on multiple characters.
Wow way to be a ***. I didn't say anything insulting, but you feel it necessary to insult me. If they want to add a way for people to turn it on or off, I would be fine with that.
Chatoyancy wrote: »I could take it or leave it either way. I'm used to games where achievements aren't shared, so the fact that they aren't shared here doesn't bother me. When playing other games, I usually try to get all the achievements on only one character, and don't bother on the others unless they have some sort of reward that is valuable to the character's progression.
If it account-shared achievements did get added though, I wouldn't be opposed, other than I think that achievements that provide skill points should be per character.
I believe the upcoming dye system is supposed to be based on achievements? Depending on how that is implemented, that might change my opinion on this.

The notion of grinding the same achievements on potentially 4 or more classes, some of which appear to take months, is pretty insane.
Tone is lost on the internet, I'm hardly insulting you, you just interpret my response as insulting, I find it amusing that you're saying no simply because there's already 'too much sharing'.
A shared bank is awesome, if there was no shared bank I'm pretty sure there would be countless topics asking for one.
You're entitled to your opinion and you say no, so be it. Odds are it will never happen anyway.

How is a shared bank awesome? I'm genuinely interested. If they add an individual bank tab then I'll be fine with a shared bank, but until then you have
1 no bank space for alts
2 needing to use alts as mules because there is not enough bank space
3 constant inventory management because you can't add things to the bank
@Chatoyancy
Exactly if ZOS doesn't do the dye system right account wide achievements could be terrible

Chatoyancy wrote: »I agree with @brandon, actually. Having a shared bank is nice and all, but if I had the choice between a shared bank and individual banks, I would much rather have individual character banks. (The best solution would be to have both though). I have a couple of alts I have been sitting on for awhile now because I don't have any bank space for their stuff, and likely won't play until I can upgrade my bank to a point that I actually feel that I can play them without frustration.
Same for guilds -- I can accept that this is a different game and all games are different, but it is still weird to me that guilds are per account and not per character.

Having all your materials in one place and being able to access said materials is pretty awesome. Having to rely on friends to give x material / gear / potion etc etc to y character is tiresome and requires a second individual. As it stands there is no way to trade between characters and the bank remedies this. I'm constantly out of space, yes, but I'm also constantly upgrading it. A person playing 2 characters with reasonable bank space on each shouldn't have too much issues. If there was a specific 'trophy' section I'd have about 20 more free slots.. but that's a different story.@Chatoyancy

How so? If dyes are tied with achievements it would be awesome to have account wide achievements, as you wouldn't have to grind each character for weeks to unlock that bloody shade of blue.
Chatoyancy wrote: »Regarding the dye system? Yeah, I'm not sure. Part of me agrees and says "yes, should be shared!" especially if the achievements that grant dyes are especially painful, and part of me disagrees and considers it part of character progression like crafting -- besides maybe you could even have your main dye the armor for your other characters? Or maybe it will be locked behind achievement points. What the heck are achievement points for anyway?
Really depends on how they implement it.
The banks upgrades are shared between all toons. How do have reasonable space per character?
Like @Chatoyancy said It is similar to crafting styles a type of progression.
I'm not sure how the achievement system will work with the dye stuff, but I doubt you will need to obtain all achievements. You wouldn't need to open 1000 chests just go for the easier achievements. Again I don't know how it will work I could be completely wrong, but until we know further that's all I can say.
I said "If they want to add a way for people to turn it on or off, I would be fine with that."
I'm not against having a main give dyed armor to an alt at all.
Personally for me it feels more like an accomplishment to earn the achievements. I'm not against it because it doesn't feel like a cheap way of earning the dye. Of course that's just my opinion.

It is indeed an accomplishment to earn the achievement and the future hypothetical associated dye. However, if you can give said coloured dyed gear to any of your characters simply by dyeing it on the character which has it unlocked, that seems like you're 'cheapening' the accomplishment associated with the achievement, as it appears one shoe fits all as opposed to everyone earning their own shoe sort of thing.
Ultimately we'll see how the dye system is implemented. If it's 'unlock on x via achievement but x can make it for any character' I'm going to be a bit bemused as an account wide achievement would have done the same thing but would have been more convenient to players.
Chatoyancy wrote: »Question! If achievements were shared, how much of the achievement would be shared?
1. Would/should progress toward an achievement be shared among characters? For example, if the achievement is "destroy 50 Dark Anchors" and character A destroyed 30 and and character B destroyed 20, would they get the achievement, or would a single character have to destroy all 50?
2. Achievements that require other achievements. If character completed Hero of the Aldmeri Dominion and Cyrodiil, character B did EP, and character C did DC, would they get the Tamriel Hero achievement?
I don't know how other games have designed their shared achievement systems.
I really dont get this. Why do you want features that so many other games have?
I LIKE experience a new type of game.
Short and sweet, I have to WORK for a living, no matter what char I am on.
This creates a longer, more interesting fun game.
If everything was easy, account bound, no real challenge untill High end raids or winning Cyro......then whats the point of ESO?
I know peoples interests are different. But one thing is a fact. ESO chosen to go against the mainsteam. NO AH, limit your bags pace, so you dont have everything, stuff gets hard as low as lvl 8 with the Doisha fight.
On and on and on. Pretty much all things in ESO requires dedication, interest, skill, luck, and lots of other stuff that most MMOs today dont require.
I do not have an alt yet, but when I make it, I already know its going to be a complete different experience in the same areas as I did growing up with this char.
I love it. Maybe others dont, but ESO is one of few games that offers you to WORK FOR YOUR STUFF!
I think no one in EU server have died more then me btw :-p
