I want to be make sure that everybody moaning about Zenimax sees this response from another thread:
We can confirm there is currently a bug with Caltrops, as some of you have called out. We have a fix for it that will go live shortly after the Craglorn patch.

A hotfix usually implies changes made quickly, outside normal development and testing cycle. "We have a fix for it that will go live shortly after the Craglorn patch," Implies it will be done on the Tue after 1.1 drops. A hotfix would be completed by the end of this week or sooner.

Hotfixed? It's getting patched "after the Craglorn patch," and we have no idea when that's coming out. That's not exactly the type of urgency I like to see with a gamebreaking bug in PvP like this.
    Cyrodiil Issues as of 6/3/2014
    - Massive Lag since Craglorn patch.(Still bad lag on "Laggajack" NA and some other campaigns.)
    - Forward Camps and other Siege bugging out frequently
    - Caltrops granting Immunity to Siege Weapon Damage
    - Massive Faction Imbalances in Most Campaigns / Several Dead Campaigns
    - Mercenary Mage Spam (sometimes causing them to go invulnerable)
    - Players exploiting Keeps/Scrolls through DK Chain Pulls to go around defenses

    Yay Zenimax is doing things.

You know, I wonder, If this was reported by anyone on the PTS before game went live.

I wouldn't bet against. ZOE probably knew about this six to 10 months ago and figured no one would figure it out on live.

More stuff being delayed by a content patch? Their priority for bug fixes is way out of wack.

I doubt that. Also I agree with the statement that this is not a hotfix.

I don't think you know the meaning of hotfix. This is another example of Zenimax dragging their feet with something that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later.

Posting like they're doing a good job, but they are not. Taking weeks to fix something which is game breaking is a pretty lousy job in my book.

So... right after the EU server gets carried out of the desert they will fix it.
That´s an EXACT timeframe to count with... between now and the next flood :)

It's entirely possible that the fix is something that could potentially break a number of other things, so they want to get some testing done before they push it to live.

That said, there comes a point where if the exploit becomes widespread enough, they are better off simply disabling the skill until the fix is ready.

I get that might be an issue, but it's not like craglorn is coming out anytime soon, its already weeks behind what they said. They could hotfix this and have more than enough time to fix whatever issue arises from it since craglorn probably won't be out until the end of the month.

This assumes Craglorn is still weeks out yet. If they don't have a window to squeeze this fix in, I feel the only reason is Craglorn is arriving this week. Why else would they have missed the usual patch/maintenance at the start of the week? That's my speculation at least.

Not to forget that "shortly after" is an even longer time than "soon". So it's not a bug, it's an interim feature.

then remove the ability all together. simply disable or delete it but stop the use of it NOW

Meh. PvP has quite a lot of issues right now, and I'm not too optimistic if they are just going to fix it when the Craglorn patch comes out. I'm playing ESO less and less simply because it has so many problems right now, and Zenimax is taking far too long to deal with them.

Please, please, please, disable caltrops until you have the fix for this.

This ability is not an amazing ability to begin with, to keep it in game with it breaking cyrodiil so hard is just bad.

yes but why dont you post your comments about this in the thread that is already in this forum section, and in this thread ZoS post the quote which the OP uses.

OP was attempting to make ppl look like whiners by saying "look! gonna be hotfixed..stop whining"..Ironically it only brings to light that ZOSs definition of "hotfix" is "in two weeks..or more" ;)

This and other bugs were known for a long time before it made it to this forum. I've see the exact same thing happen in every PvP alpha/beta I've played. The game company knows that there are specific cheats like this. They should, they put them in. But they don't fix them until after release, even though they may be reported in the first day of the alpha.
MMO's must have something in the design formula that says "certain cheats must be allowed for certain people" at game release, and through out the game. It is the only explanation. They must think this makes them money somehow, maybe they are bribed or something. It is confusing. Allowing cheaters to prosper causes customer loss at a tremendous rate. Few games I have ever played have been so specifically designed for collusion and cheating as this one. What is could the rational for doing this be? I do not believe it is anything like "assume incompetence before malice" because this always happens. Always, every time.
Why? Why must collusion and cheating be required for MMO's?
