Yep they have one of the worest user interfaces i`ve seen in a mmo DAOC is worse tho lol . that said their guild store functions are clunky and generic at best .

Why they didn`t add a faction wide Auction channel is beyond me hell even EQ had server wide Auction channel back in 1999 . that you could join or toggle off etc . guess they keep thinking of the game as a single player game and didn`t want to ruin immersion haha .

Where did you dream this up?

EQ started 1999 and did not get a trading zone where you could leave your alt as a merchant over night until the 4th expansion. Years later.

For years, a newbie zone called west commonlands was the PLAYERS choice. People stood there and there was no way to link items. Shouting or zone chat selling X. Those who where selling even gathered in the cave and that was part of some players game every day.

EQ NEVER had a AH. EQ 2 had a merchant system that was zone wide search in, but when you found the item you wanted, you needed to locate where the seller was, so you could Auto buy the item. It was one of the most liked features in EQ2.

Maybe you got it wrong, or you had a bad dream.

Without an auction house (or any form of market, in fact), there is no possibility of this game having any flourishing economy. Joining 5 guilds is honestly a poor way to slap together 5 micro-markets and call it an economy. :|

Really? And how do you explain the already working player driven economy in ESO?

Maybe some people simply just want an AH. go buy stuff for the cheapest and go bed. Unless you have been asleep when playing ESO, ESO WANTS interaction, not less of it. And AH would take away the wonderful feature of PLAYER driven prices. People pay for things they are willing to pay/sell.

This is becoming as much part of the game as using yourtime to go questing. Exactly in line what ESO is developing. They dont want to choose the price. We do!

And btw, just because you are in 5 trade guilds, means ***. In ESO guilds can actually set their own guilds/rules. And there are some fantastic tradeguilds, but they take effort to even get into!

Also, when you try to sell. A high price = no sale unless you get lucky.

My problem is they don't have a dedicated WTS/WTB channel.

Do what i did. Send in a suggestion for one.

If you didnt know, by public demand, we got a "general chat" on the forums. DEVS said it was our idea and they liked it.

What is wrong with spam of people selling stuff? This is a form of socialization that has been lacking in MMO's for years. It's amazing to me that half the threads on this Forum knock ESO for being a Singleplayer game & the other half knock ESO for their mechanics that encourage socialization. I have over a dozen people in my friends list that I met just by trading & have a regular customer base from that.

Agree completely. Its starting to be just like Everquest had it the first years and thats was quite enjoyable!

If a Trade Channel reaches more people then people would use it. So if a trade channel is Server Wide instead of Zone Wide, Zone should be cleaner.

trade channel yes. Server wide, absolutly not. Way to spammy and you get a sort of AH. I am happy that the DEVS already answered that server wide anything will most not happen. Just beacuse it doesnt belong.

    I agree.

Make a trade channel just like the zone channel. Works. If you dont wanna hear it, you can click it off.

Every MMO I've played over the last few years has had trade spam, however most have had the decency to create trade channels. Also AH's are a useful tool because they clear the trade channels of most useless junk and low grade items, you generally only go to trade channels to get a better deal than the AH on epic+ items not to buy trash.

What would be the best of both worlds is if they had a public AH but limited the item quality meaning you could only sell up to blues on the AH but purples and above you'd have to trade with the players directly. It would lessen the chat spam but still give a reason for players for more social trading.

No,the AH would ruin the economy thats been building.

A trade chat for each zone is good. You can turn zone chat off, so why not trade chat if you do not wish to hear it?

good luck i was on the PTS server and suggested about a trade/auction channel like EQ had back in 1999 . guess they didn`t think it was needed , and went with their useless guild store lol .

Agreed. The guild store system is a lame substitute for a real AH.

I like it the way it is too. Like so many design decisions in the game, it's an imposed limitation that works well for the good of the whole game.

People are used to silly conventions from other games. This game tries to change some of the conventions around, and has a more minimalist approach, and tries to keep your head in the game, rather than outside the game looking in.

Sometimes it's hard designing something and people are clamouring for something, and you know it's painful but you've got to say "no". People don't always know what would be good for them, and it's either brave, foolish (or perhaps an accident) that Zenimax are denying things like an AH, but I think it will turn out to have a good benefit on the game.

So much of this game is not set up for Achievers, or E-Sporty types. That might be a risk for Zenimax, but I think they may do well enough with the types of people who do enjoy a purer and simpler form of immersion and socialization in a virtual world.

I make a killing on buying items from one guild ah and selling on another... Its even better than owning the entire server economy on a low pop wow server.
