I sent a Gamemaster a tell last night about an obvious bot farming a resource node.. The bot disappeared right away, so I told the GM sorry he's gone already. I felt like I had just cried wolf.. The GM responded, no that was me.. It was nice getting instant action when I asked for it.

Sweet. A few days ago I stood around watching while a GM banned a whole mess of bots farming auto-regenerating jute nodes (there were 4 of the nodes in the area, and each of them had 4 or 5 bots at them). It was very satisfying - especially as I had just been spending my time killing the bots by getting netches to use their AoEs over them. There were a couple of other people watching the banning fun too. And then after the GM left bots came back And then the GM came back! Twice more before I logged off!

The times I've seen a GM on there has been a system message that flashed across the screen, as well as something in zone chat.

I've only seen 2 system messages, yet i see 2 dozen bots just in the zone I'm in everytime i play so please tell me we don't have to wait for some random system message to pop up once in a blue moon to use this right?

Considering that bots are hands down my biggest source of frustration in this game, I'm glad they took some action!

Level 35 now and I have never seen that, and I play A LOT.

Maybe they prioritize the highest level zones first? Not sure why, since the lowers are easier to get to and seem to be more frequently exploited.

But I agree it would be nice to see it happen if and when it does.

@blackwidow they have been popping in zone and announcing that they are there if needed, just send a tell

True that.. You can fill up your bags with Jute in one hour and deconstruct it and get purple crafting mats. You'd think they'd fix them right away

Other than sending tells to GMs what's the best method to report bots?

I've followed groups of bots and reported each one of the group for cheating/exploiting as bots. I don't know if this is the most effective way, but it's the only way I've figured out to combat botting players.

On second thought, since we can't see the results of our reports, how about Zenimax makes a title and vanity pet for successful bot reporting? I know this would be tough to implement, but this is me just thinking. (These are just numbers for an example.) Say after ten successful bot reports you get an achievement similar to the kill 500 of X creatures. After 50 successful reports you get a title, Botter Spotter, and after 100 you get a mini centurion vanity pet (just for the irony of course).

I would like to see GMs pop in a little more often, would be reassuring and also more effective.

I believe I saw the GM message while I was in Shadowfen, but I was in Bleakrock Isle when I reported the bot. The GM told me he was covering all of Ebonheart Pact areas at that time. There was no lead in the GM's pants! Like I said it was about 10 seconds from /tell I got this bot here.. to seeing the bot get kicked.
