Greetings,
I would like to ask you o'wise producers about the crafting. Let's say clothing, what I'm doing: pick gloves, increase amount mats to max and craft. It provides me with small, even ridiculously small amount of exp. Is it as it should be or I'm doing something wrong, very wrong? (except for not spending my whole time farming thousands of materials)

On the other hand pick provisioninig - i maxed it even before i learned 2nd lvl recipes.
Find clothing buddy - create lots of clohing and exchange with him - deconstruct. Repeat till you find your clothing maxxed

Yes.. for most crafts, you get very little exp for crafting new items.. you get most of your exp from Deconstructing items that you did not make yourself.. looted items give the best deconstruction exp followed by items another player crafted.. your own crafted items give very little exp

I see, I see no fun at all in this crude, vile almost system. With no doubt, there is a lesson to be learned from reverse tailoring but practise with a needle should provice much more experience.

    What I do is

Head out to do whatever quests, dungeon, exploring.
after a while I've got a good amount of weapons and armor to decon to get at least half a lvl in the craft. I'm currently lvl 20 in blacksmithing, woodworking, clothing. I usually sell all white items and decon all greens and most blues.

Watch chat for people looking for people for bosses or anchors and always join them if they are within 5 lvls of you or else you wont get any xp or drops.

So how would you see it working create a single item and max it out?

I've played a fair few MMO's and I have to say it has one of the better systems, its not perfect but at least if you feel inclined you can craft it all.

Plus and here's the thing people forget, this game is 6 weeks old. It hasn't had the ^-6 years that WoW or Lotro have had and I bet if you went back to day 1 with them they wouldn't match how they are now.

crafting in games tends not to change too much, dont know about wow, but lotro is basically the same with the addition of reputation gates for higher level recipes and 1 resource instead of 2 for ore per teir.

this crafting system was designed to not be a crafting system, but a decon items to get the levels to be able to upgrade gear system. trade items with a crafting buddy, or craft on a secondary toon and decon with your primary 'crafter' is my advice. oh and get adventuring levels, sicne they give higher level items to decon and extraction from deconning is adventure level based, not crafting level.

yes, this or introduce system where you must craft whole set of items for some crafting quest npc who gives you exp after finishing it - repeatable quest.

Praise the Eight that they've saved us from such stupidness as that, repeatable crafting quests it the likes of Lotro did my head in, how dull and boring.

Thats the joy of this your not forced to do repeatable quests just to get ahead.

yes, indeed, and now you are a subject to sophisticated form of deconstruction, it does not only enhance your gameplay but also prevents you from overthinking where you can spend your money. how? simply by erasing items that you would normally sell. a brilliant idea, it builds a factor of sacrifice within players and who knows, with a bitter bit of luck, we can all become a revered martyrs. at least we are spared from dull and boring, after all the incredible sensation of the deconstruction; chance for upgrade materials, oh, it is overwhelming.

Crafting is such a huge money sink. You can't sell your loot if you want to level crafting, and once you spend all those amazing resources to craft some blue or even purple gear, you have to spend an ungodly amount of gold to maintain it through repairs.

ATM, I just craft to level it up and that's all. I don't really make sets for myself, since I'm not interested in spending gold to repair it at the cost they demand for it. My armor is bonkered in about an hours playtime in VR zones, what with buggy NB skills and a bazillion deaths.
