You can get every motif by playing the game and exploring, you get your own racial for free, which is logical. Luck is a factor, but that's the same for every single item you can find in the game...
lol im a v10 I open everything I have since day one im level 50 everything as a crafter (but enchanting...I gave up on that bs) I have never looted any rare motif...ever,,,its bs!

Haven't found a single motif for weeks now.. but since farmers had dozens of them in their banks already before this damned nerf to drops, they are now really happy and really *** rich - since prices jumped REALLY high since that nerf

I remeber when they were selling Daedric for 60k and the rest of "rares" for 40k, now they are kinda all above 130k and daedric around 400k+

and btw, low levels in daedric usually mean BOUND ARMOR spell. Daedra hearts are too costy to use on low level gear. At least for normal players, not farmers who by now have MILLIONS.

I hope they turn every current motif in peoples inventories into bound items.

It was fair at the beginning but now, after the nerf, it just became pure bs. I don't know what the Devs tried to achieve but all they did was playing right into the hands of all these exploiters, dupers and (and that's the worst) the goldsellers. Either make them bop, put them in bookshelves or make them obtainable through crafting or quests.

My daughter says things are unfair when she whines about things in life. I usually end up telling her to go clean the garage and to come back when she's done being a crybaby.

Oh, I haven't found a single motif anywhere. I buy the ones I want. If I can't afford it I chalk it up to being tough luck.

I think that the Motif System is nice but having the special motifs (11-14) dropping in Vet zones is unfair Because they cost more than buying a freaking horse 50k-100k for them are you kidding.

Motifs are great gold sink, every game need some huge gold sink. ESO have rare Motifs for that.
Anyway to be honest you can get all motifs by farming them, just waste 10min per day and farm few nightstands, sooner or later you will find them all.

It was same with bites, everyone were crying you can't get them. I went in rift and run around rift area for 30min and found what i was looking for...

it is fair they are drops in that the rules are the same for everyone. mind you the fact they lowered the rate is unfair, since it only protects the market for the power levelers by making it specifially more difficult for only casual gamers.

imo a better question is: is it a good idea to make ones abilities as a crafter almost as dependant on adventuring level as crafting level? deconstructing items of a specific style giving say a 1% cumulative chance of learning the style makes alot more sense

No I agree its unfair in fact why should I do anything to get anything. shouldn't I just create a new alt and it have max kit, a huge stock of everything i might ever need and all skills at max level as well.

Who do these games designers think they are making me move about and find stuff. I mean what's that all about...

    greatest response i'v ever seen

yeah, because it is challenging to click on all those boxes and not get carpal tunnel.
do other people think opening unlocked containers is *challenging*?

tedious? yes. time-consuming? yes. subscription extending? perhaps for some. but *challenging*?

edit: if motifs had a chance to drop from instanced group dungeons, world bosses, or even public dungeons. i might consider the challenging part not absurd.

You do understand that a gold sink is a design that REMOVES gold from the economy, not one that redistributes the gold.

There is nothing unfair about the motif system and I believe they were supposed to be uncommon to rare to begin with, but the exploitation of relogging to farm areas created an abnormally large number in the economy, concentrated in a small number of people, which is not something they predicted, so they curtailed the farming method reducing the introduction of new motifs to a rate closer to their original design.

Fairness has nothing to do with it. If motifs provided some inherent bonus then you could argue fairness, but it is simply cosmetic.
