Racial Motifs system, unfair?

Hello comrades,

I make this discussion post because I want to know what everybody thinks about the Racial Motif system.

I'm totally disagree with this system because to get your favorite Racial style you must be a lucky guy, dosen't matter if you are the best crafter in Tamriel, you cant make a (example) Daedric style crafting because the only way to get it is found it through a system of ramdom dropping items when you open a bag or something else...

I hate this! I'm tired to see other players who have a Daedric armor with a less 20 lvl character. And just beacuase they are *** luckiest!
And also we have the masters of the luckiest who get more of one copy of the Racial Motif book and SELL it for huge cuantity of Gold.... I don't want to give them all my gold, wich I get with effort and days and days of gameplay. Is unfair...

I think it's an awesome system. And the Daedric, Ancient Elf, Barbarian and Primal styles only drop from Veteran rank content... if someone below that level has that style they got it as a drop, it's an alt character, or they bought the gear from someone.

You can get every motif by playing the game and exploring, you get your own racial for free, which is logical. Luck is a factor, but that's the same for every single item you can find in the game...

-You can't use the special motifs before getting to a certain level of at least one crafting discipline that uses motifs.
-The motifs are cheap, and you will probably have enough money to get the one you want way before you even get to the level required to use them.
-The special motifs only drop on veteran maps, and they drop quite frequently.

It is not only fair, it is also too easy to get them.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

What you're not seeing with those lvl20 players with Daedric armor is their VR-level alt (or friend.) ((or guildmate who sold it to them for gold.)) (((or gold/item seller who took real money from them for it...)))

Every system based on luck can be perceived as unfair by less lucky players. Even though I did not manage to find any rare motif in game and almost no common motifs, I feel that this luck-based acquisition of motifs fits ESO's loot system which is all luck based. There is nothing to work towards and to earn here apart from gold. Then you can buy it. Some players are lucky in finding rare motifs, others in getting golden improvement materials, maybe more valuable rare items will be added in future. Sell what you don't need and buy what you need. I personally don't like this system at all, but it feels balanced enough to be called unfair.

it's RNG. you win, you lose. To be honest, I'd rather have the "special" motifs bound to an achievement via raiding or pvp, but I'll take them being a rare drop. If they were easy to get it wouldn't be worth having.

Why does it need to be fair? So you can't craft whatever you want immediately...thats not a bad thing IMO.

This is no different from every other MMO.

I won't say it's unfair, but it is rather lame. Of course if there are rare and valuable items to be found by looting common containers, farmers gonna farm. Don't act all surprised then nerf the drop rate. All you're doing is reducing the chances of people legitimately finding them. Outlaw motifs then only outlaws will have motifs...

It's fair, it's random and we all get the same chances of getting the motifs.
Would have been nice if they had made them easier to find but account bound, or gave us a chance of getting them from deconstruction, but it's still fair.

haven't voted because tbh I don't really care all that much; there's no way in hell I'll buy a rare motif even if the prices lower to more normal prices; I have all the normal motifs and those will do until I find a rare motif (or don't)

No I agree its unfair in fact why should I do anything to get anything. shouldn't I just create a new alt and it have max kit, a huge stock of everything i might ever need and all skills at max level as well.

Who do these games designers think they are making me move about and find stuff. I mean what's that all about...

Every single one that I've found has come from a "Wardrobe" in an NPC's house.
The rest I purchased from other players.

To be specific, you need level 6 in a crafting discipline to use Daedric, Barbaric, Ancient Elf, or Primal motifs, which means skill rank 30 and the skill points to have unlocked that far. You won't get to this level of a craft at a low character level. It quickly becomes extremely difficult to raise something like Blacksmith to that level without the help of a guild feeding you all their drops to break down.

The places you find those motifs are in zones for level 40+ characters anyway. So you'd have to 1) have a bunch of guildmates feeding your crafter everything so you can raise a skill and 2) have your guild mates get you out to a lvl 40 zone, and let you run around looting wardrobes for as many days as it would take you to find these motifs.

If you have done those things, and you have a level 6 / rank 30+ craft, and have spend at least a full week farming furniture in a 40+ zone, and you have never found such a motif, then I could understand your complaint. But in a situation like that, its more likely a character/account bug.

So I Figured out a system that would work better an make more sense to me.

Have it does as research. So you find Daedric armor and do a Research Deconstruction. This destroys the armor and adds to a percentage towards learning the style. Also gear picked up would simply need to be labled Daerdric or Barbaric and High Elf.

To be unfair you would have to be at a disadvantage of some sort to the other player that got one. The other player (aside from exploiters) has no inherent advantage, therefore it is fair.

Now you might consider it unfair that they are being paid to play a game, but I am pretty confident that the line workers in the gold sweat shops would gladly exchange places with you.

Fair - people need to have something to work for, to earn, or to strive after. Can't understand people that demand everything be handed to them.
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.

I usually find them in trunks. Have also found them in Nightstands, Wardrobes, and Desks. Do not bother with cupboards, baskets, sacks or crates. People on here claim to have found them in backpacks as well, though I never have.

Motifs should have been on bookshelves, learned as you examine the shelf, and not something lootable and sellable. They don't need to be rare, they are fluff and offer no combat advantages, and putting books on the bookshelves would make too much sense. Every motif Ive gotten shouldn't have taken up any of my inventory space and shouldn't have been tradeable.

I'll say the same thing about prov recipes. I believe there was even a load screen tip that said you can learn Prov recipes from talking to NPC's and from books on shelves, but I have found 0 NPC's that taught me any recipes. They've all been looted from furniture and sellable just like motifs and its equally stupid. I have come across prov recipes on bookshelves, but they don't teach you a single recipe as they should. They need to move prov recipes onto shelves too so those too will cease to be an economic issue.

It would also make sense for them to move them to treasure chests in the world. That way people wouldn't be able to /logout camp the areas with the most furniture to rummage through for them...

Let me preface my vote and following statement by stating that I have all motifs on my main who also is my clothing, woodworking and blacksmithing character.

I had to farm quite a bit just to get enough gold to buy 3 of the 4 vet drop motifs. Being Imperial on my main solved the problem of having to buy one of them. This method at the time and most likely more so now is ridiculous. Simply because market prices are driven up by those who are monopolizing the product.

These individuals are primarily the RMT site sellers. I have no way of knowing if I swapped my gold for one of these to a gold seller who turned around and sold my gold for real money. It is reasonable to believe because we now know that 'farming' them was relatively easy for botters to do and may still be. You can check some of the RMT sites and see these motifs being sold for real currency.

I would like to have seen, still see, these as Vet rank rewards instead of the silly costumes they give. Have them account bound and thus hitting the RMT abusers where it counts.

I say let the Motifs be books on the shelves for a percentage towards learning the style along with deconstruction training as well.
