[Snipe] Bow Skill seems a little pointless

I'm level 39, and I have crouched Sniped one hit killed mobs quite a number of times.

Though I will agree, it is more suited for playing in the open world, and less in dungeons or close quarters.

If you get them from behind as well, you can do even more damage.

I use sniper in pve sometimes when I'm wandering around with my bow even in vet levels, it's a great opener and a smart sniper will use the snipe form as far as possible then while the arrow is travelling to its target move up and start drawing their bow and release a second arrow with an animation cancelling venom arrow that hit just after the snipe. This makes for 3 hits in under 1 second, a medium to heavy attack, a venom arrow and a critical snipe. The critical snipe, i morphed to lethal arrow, can deal 2+k when it crits from max range and then the other shots simple do extra damage, often killing targets especially if one of the other shots also crits (due to crit % not sneak crit). As others said tough snipe truly shines in pvp where it can 1 shot weaker healers and such, making groups of enemies become a disorganised mess at times.

Not sure why everyone has to have 5 abilities that are spammy. Snipe is an opener, deal with it. Snipe used at range gives you plenty of options due to its long, slow travel time. You can have a second snipe already in the air before the first one hits, you can mark target during the flight time of the first, etc... My base snipe damage (listed on the ability) is 795, reg crit for 1340~1400 and sneak crit for 1880. With patch 1.3 coming the damage is just going to increase (stam soft cap raised, weapon dmg soft cap raised, better stam sets) so yes I have snipe on my bar, yes I use it to open and no I don't need to spam every ability on my bar.

Yeah, well, unfortunately, Snipe deals less damage than the combined fully charged heavy attack + Venom Arrow (when fired by pushing the button for Venom Arrow).

    On level 28 from stealth/sneak:
    Snipe deals ~650 dmg
    Heavy attack deals ~460 dmg
Venom Arrow deals ~250 dmg + DoT

heavy launched by venom means that BOTH get sneak bonus (sneak attacks cannot crit though, as sneak attack bonus is calculated INSTEAD of crit.. although, sneak bonus damage is usually higher than crit damage, damage just can't be subject to both at once), which means they deal ~60 more damage instantly PLUS leaving a DoT, while not giving a damn about minimum distance or sound.

Now the only thing I'm not certain of is whether full heavy attack takes 2 seconds, 2.5 or 3, as I've never tested it, but it STILL (even after that buff) feels like Snipe is just a huge waste of a slot, that may or may not be worth keeping just for debuff from it's morphs.

Pretty much this, as a PVPer I can have two snipes in the air before the first one hits that's a possible 1.5k+ of damage with my 50% crit chance and 1900 stamina.

I've also found it useful at times when someone turns to run away from me, I can snipe and then start running after them, often they won't get away.

Also, there is nothing funnier than seeing a player with 20% health and I flatten him from 40 meters away.

I use it all the time in pvp. I got it morphed to mark them on top of the mark I place as a nb. As soon as your team mates see a double marked enemy they get incinerated. Think of it as kinda like zerg bait. Like you can control that mass of mindless frontliners into coordinating.

For solo ganking it is possible to restealth after firing a snipe at someone. I often just snipe from stealth over and over until they see where I am shooting from. If they live long enough to see you still got your whole mana bar, say good night cyrodiil questers!

I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
    A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

Yup. I got my first hate tell last night (can't believe it took this long) from a highly ranked player who didn't have nice things to say. Needless to say is, he died, pretty quick, and wasn't happy that he didn't get a chance to fight back. Snipe + healing debuff + venom arrow spam = dead DK. It's a fantastic skill.

I love it, sneak attack snipe do atleast 1k dmg what's not to like o0 and then it stuns and gets benefit from vulnerable target and range, combine that with nightblade passives and race passives of stealth bonus and mark ? Its leeethal lol

PvP- if done with the right combi of other skills snipe can decimate.

At least the spelling is difficult for you.

yeah, best thing is the death recap. I've been hit with snipe for 1400. Granted I have 3200 health in Cyrodiil, but 1400 is like a direct hit from an oil pot.

I've been experimenting with it now too...when you have a war of attrition at a keep...it becomes pretty valuable.

But when fighting out in the open, including keep courtyards or inner keep, it's useless because you want to get face to face to veiled strike/flurry/impale people and drop them fast.

Yeah I think the venom arrow spam right after rather than another snipe is the way to go I think, I get a lot of DK hate tells thanks to that combo.

I run with a 5 set of Hundings, 3 Ashen's and a purple bow with Flawless Dawnbreaker fitted and my venom arrow hits like a truck. It hits even harder and vamps with the weapon damage passives in Fighters Guild.

I'm running the same set up. :) I was messing around in PvE during my 45 minute queue last night and venom arrorw was regularly hitting for 450+. It doesnt hit that hard in PvP but there is potential.

Same, I just posted in the "Bow needs a spam skill" with some pictures of my damage in PVP and it's around the same I'm guessing. I can hit a VR12 in PVP for around 300.

I can actually see their health bars dropping like water out of a bucket, it's even better when they try and cast and wave their arms everywhere. It's so quick to cast I'm almost never swapping to my impale bar to finish someone off.

Yeah. I havent actually had to use Impale since the 1.3 patch. A funny combo you may want to try out is putting Tangling Webs on your bow bar. I was messing with it last night and it's pretty funny. Snipe, Venom Arrow, Tangling Webs and they are screwed beyond belief. I haven't morphed it since last night was the first time I've actually used the skill, though the fear synergy has peaked my interest.
