Why nerfing bank spawns for motifs will ruin this game.

So yesterday I finally got to a vet 6 zone. I was able to farm the bank for daedric motifs for about 2hours before the server went down. I got only 1 that whole time. Now i log on today to find out they nerfed it. this will ruin the games economy and will force people to quit. People have been vet6+ for awhile now, they got to farm for these rare motifs for about a week or two. they have made well over 600k. this isn't far to the people who are catching up, Now we wont be able to make gold by finding motifs also the people who farmed for weeks and now have a stockpile will be able to even sell them at higher prices. this was a big mistake and it should be put back to how it was.

I don't really agree to this. I just feel that there should be other ways to get them as well. Like make killing a deadric enemy give a chance to get them as well or something. Even if if was a 1% drop or something, there are other ways to implement them besides 'hey go search a million sacks!"

I don't see how it will ruin the economy, and no I don't have a daedric motif. Personally, think daedric armor was silly, and only the emo drag queens want to wear it anyways.

If there was other ways of getting them like you stated i would be okay with that. it would be much better. but now the spawn rates are so low the demand will go higher so will the prices.

I don't see logging on n off as farming so I have no problem with this. There's too many motifs flying around anyways.

The reason why it ruins it is because the people who farmed for these rare motifs before the fix have a lot of these stock piled in the bank. they have been selling for weeks and have over 600k gold. Now they will be able to sell the extras they have for even more gold since these will be such rare spawns now. How it breaks the economy is because you will have players that are so rich they will be able to get a anything they want without having to work for it now. Also all the players trying to play catch up wont be able to even come close.

Sounds like someone is mad they only found one motif and they do not have 600k. If they leave it alone, which is what you are advocating for, then nothing will change, the price of your precious motif would plummet like the original nine motifs have. They used to sell for 2k, then dropped to 1.5k then 1k before the first week was over. Now you can get them from guild stores for 400-700 gold as most people do not want one. Not everyone should have rare items and the daedric motif is a rare one. The fix had to come sometime and better now than making crafting worthless in the long run as everyone would have the motif and no one would make money with crafting at all since everyone would have the motif.

Not sure about being mad that person can't farm them and make 600k like others, but I agree it's complete BS. Not sure it was a STEALTH NERF, but the number of motifs dropping is common topic in zone chat(s).

Sorry.. . I'm a crafter and I've been actively chasing all the MOTIFS. Got most of them but two, but I sure as hell don't agree with nerfing them as they are already a pain to find (NOT the common nine either).

Nerf Dropping in Furniture... Fine.. ADD them to boss drops and mobs then. SO people that are killing stuff in that ZONE have a chance to get them.

Nothing more stupid then having to run around an entire city and open EVERY SINGLE item seeking one specific thing. Want a credit sink in game? Then ADD these to each specific zone and SELL them for a crap ton of gold. Folks selling Daedric for 50k will go away if the vendor sells them for 25k.

Side Note: A lot more "EMPTY" items tonight that I had last night at the same time. Meaning I open more things and find nothing in them. So either a BUG was introduced or the nerf bat was swung really hard.

Read my TEXT... CRAFTER.. get it... got it... good.

Care less about the market - it's hosed anyways no matter how stupid of prices people are charging. Should be several options beyond farming furniture to get a flippin crafting motif.

Apparently every little thing can ruin the economy.

But, I don't see this as a economy ruining issue as much as one player complaining that they did not get to exploit a drop that was too frequent like other players did.

"Other people got to farm this and I didn't so I'm mad and its not fair. They shouldn't fix it till I have made plenty off of it."

I haven't found one and I assure you if ANYTHING is going to ruin the "economy" it is most certainly not this.

This is a joke right? you aren't really thinking this are you? seriously? Humanity can't be this bad... this is in jest.. surely.

    The OP has a point.
People have been abusing the log in log off thing and ripping everyone off.
People, lime myself, who just quest and hope to find one in the hundreds of items they loot during questing and refuse t pay the crazy prices people asked for are now disadvantaged.
Basically if you abused the log in log off looting you used to have rare items, now the items are even rarer.
I have not found one at V4 after looting hundreds of items naturally what chance do I have now?
Once again the honest players are punished.
ZoS is starting to make a habit of this.
Changing Boss Loot and Timers in public dungeons and now this.
It is lazy from ZoS and only the people who play fair and natural get punished while the farmers abusing log on log off profit.
I am losing faith in this game every being enjoyable to the fair dinkum player.

Did they overlook exploitable things yes. Is the solution 'not' to fix it but allow the exploit to continue? Honestly I would be more upet that for several days people could go to cyrodil and do the kill 20 players quest over and over again and they changed that to a daily after a few days. that's wayyyy more of an advantage than either of the things you mentioned.

I am not concerned about what people do in PvP, and I am not interested in PvP.
What does concern me is I want to craft and enjoy all my characters potential.
I want to find loot as it was meant to be.
I do not want to pay farmers that use exploits to find rare gear one single cent.
I also do not want things that I desire to be even harder to get due to the fact others have been exploiting.
Plain and simple it is not fair.
The only people who win are the ones who have been exploiting certain things all along and the ones striving to achieve, explore, enjoy, and play the game as it was designed are left out in the cold.

You completely missing the point about the pvp quest but i wont bother to elaborate...
So what if ZEN says they aren't fixing it this is how they meant it to be , everyone has an equal chance and opportunity to use hirelings?

Well i would say destroy the economy , cause you cant really destroy the economy , you can only change it.

But yeah , it will change the economy.

I would have liked to have such motiffs , now maybe i will never do , but this wont really affect me this way. My guild got an entire team of crafters , and you can get pretty much any gear you want at mat cost.

The ZOS pattern so far has been to push the problem into the next problem. Started in the escaping instance first (BETA) then moved to starter cities, now it's further along and screwing folks that actually want the motif to get the motif.

How about make them unique and only able to have ONE at a time. Or maybe if you have that MOTIF you get a different one if lucky enough to find them.

Plenty of "NOT LAZY" solutionsto this problem, but economy is still in recovery mode after all the DUP'ing issues that didn't get resolved quickly enough. Things like fixing OP Vamp's in PVP would seem to be a bigger priority than motif farming. LOL
  • Shamusangus_24
guise, were all the motifs nerfed or just the rare ones?
if yes, does this mean the first 9 will start creeping back up in price?

To undo their mistake and combat this.
    1. Have all current motifs available to purchase for 1-2k.
    2. Bring in new motif content which will now act as the top tier stuff and have them only be attainable with this new chest drop rate.

    Problem is SOLVED.

I'm sort of on the let the economy adjust it self type of guy on this one.

Personally... the prices had started to drop down low enough to make it viable for most players to just buy the Motifs (Common - not RARE).

First week most common ran for 2k-3k then it's like 500g lately. Daedric was crazy the first week with ranges from 70k-200k at times. I think last couple I saw this weekend was 45k range.

NOW... prices will just jump right back up to crazy high prices (Supply & Demand).

Farming Motifs is like farming XP. Instead of killing mobs over and over again.. you do this boring ritual of running around the city opening every chest, dresser, cabinet, etc... to get a potential "Motif" or "Recipe" drop.

It's pretty boring and you have to be either very GREEDY to do it constantly or really DEDICATED to getting the Motif for your own use.

I'll do it at night before logging out to try and find the Motif(s) I still need for a complete set, but it's really annoying when 20 other people are doing the same thing.

Basically... ZOS should have come up with a better way to deploy these instead of in static locations (IE: Furniture mostly) via random chance.

While I don't think this nerf will destroy the economy (can't break what is already broken / non-existent) I really am sorta miffed that it affects my chances to get the rare motifs.

I'm a crafter and I craft mostly for myself (or a guildie if asked); I sell pretty much nothing (still have 2 motif books on my main that I have already read for over 2 weeks). and I was sorta looking forward to playing around with the rare motifs later on when I reach vet ranks.

I refuse to buy the motifs at the ridiculous prices that they are listed at.
This will probably force me to run around town like a chicken witout a head for way longer looking for the style books (since I'm kinda OCD like that and I HAVE to have the friggin' things)

Blah really hate how motifs were done entirely.

Preferred the skyrim way. Eso has too many armor models at launch and left them all looking cheap and all details painted on with no texture in full ultra. Eq2 had better looking armor in 2004.

treasure maps can be sold .. and you can have more than one of each. Bought a 2nd one of the same map I already had in my inventory from the guildstore yesterday.

pretty sure that if you store em in your bank you can also still get a 2nd one from drops.
