Unless it was a duel, it seems logical to retreat if one failed to get a kill and is about to die. Especially for a stealth/burst class setup. Get clear, recuperate, reassess, maybe try again. Why would you want to rez and ride all the way back?
To some that may be "cowardly" but the goal is to kill while staying alive. One does not help the war effort by being dead for no good objective.
I look at a PVP zone as a war, not some honorable, bow to each other jousting arena.
If the game had a dueling system then that would be a different matter to me.
