Then how do you communicate or RP in a game that is chat based?
    VOIP
    ... don't you think?
    No.

What I do think is that character voices should be as diverse and unique as the characters we create.

Granted, there are those that don't find it acceptable to talk for their characters. However, there are those that do. I personally find it more of an immersion breaker to be forced to leave the character and type out what I want them to say. If you have a gender conflict, then one has several options...
    • Change characters for one more suited to your voice.
    • Don't change and stick with text.
    • Get creative. (...for ex., RP them being overtaken by some spiritual entity.)

Either way, not everyone is favorable of RP. By the same token, not everyone is favorable to talking for their character. One simply must finds those of like minds and go from there.

This has been a topic of forum discussions about VRP in several sites. One being TESO-RP and while opposing ideas chime in, there are just as many parties of interest.

Just to throw it out there.. I did not watch the video.

Words contained in posts, at which point I stop reading and will not respond...
Toon / Mana / WoW or any acronym following "In ___" /
Pets (when referring to summoned Daedra) / Any verbiage to express slang (ie, ending in uz,az,..) / Soul Stone
    ... to be continued.

    Now, get off my lawn.

Whatever works for some people. That is definitly not for me. I dont wish to hear any voices at all or use my own voice.

its why I dont perfer even using voice chat for regular play. Not for any sort of rpg at least.

Which supports my comments in the post you quoted.

However, I didn't intend for this to become a VRP discussion as that is for another topic. My apologizes to the OP. I just wanted to briefly answer the aforementioned question.

I would be happy to continue in a proper topic. Please understand, I am not out to convince anyone of anything. Just presenting how I like to play.

I decided to start one anyway. Just in case...Do you or would you VOIP RP?

I try to stay in character as much as I can, except in guild chat and sometimes zone chat. My name in game is Beerbong_Ginn; I'm in EP right now, but I'll get around to making characters in the other factions at some point.

I like the idea of roleplaying, except I'm really shy and I feel like I don't know how to go about it. I never talk in game to begin with, I use emotes a lot.

Well I know this isn't going to be a whole lot of help, but just remember that there are many, many different ways to Roleplay. The trick is finding the type of RP that you like. No matter your niche there's almost certainly a group or so playing the game that holds to similar ideals.

If you can be anything, be kind.
