ARMOR REPAIRS ARE EXPANSIVE

I can't say about VR level gear for repair cost but up to lvl 50 gear repair seems is very reasonable and should give some pinch feel to it. In other MMOs, repair gear cost was JOKE and almost completely negligible to the point why repair concept is bothered to stay in game.. It also makes deaths more meaningful if you know that you would have to pay hefty repair price if you die too often. I like repair cost as is up to level 50.

Always sell and/or break down all armor in your inventory before you pay your repair bill, as it is charging you for stuff your not wearing too. If you have 8 or 9 pieces of other gear you aren't going to wear, why repair that?

By the time my inventory fills up and I head for town, I sell/break and then always have enough money to cover my repairs and still constantly grow my funds.

I really just wish that decay only came from fall damage/getting hit by things/dying with cloth being able to take less of a beating than plate.

I understand the desire for a gold sink but it's weird to punish someone for successfully killing a mob. Punish me for dying and getting hurt, absolutely, but not for ending a fight where I take no damage. It just strikes me as bizarre.

There are two ways your armour gets damaged

    1) Earning XP from mob kills damages your gear.

    2) Dying damages your gear

It seems the vast majority comes from 1).

I did some grinding for an hour at level 25, got myself halfway to level 26. Ended up with a 1000g repair bill, despite not having any deaths.

Ran a dungeon with a bad group, wiped 15 times, repair bill 300. About 20g per death then. As you earn little or no XP from killing mobs in group dungeons (though the quest is worth a fair bit), there is little durability loss from XP.

After reaching veteran rank 1, I went back to coldharbour to complete my remaining quests. As a vet, you no longer earn XP for killing non-vet mobs, but can still get xp for turning quests in. The good news is, I had zero repair bill after a day of adventuring, thanks to not earning any kill XP from kills.

Weird how the game punishes you much more for being successful than for dying.

    Lesson 1 - don't grind.

Install the lorebooks addon instead, and hunt down all the lore books. In the process, even though I could have sworn i'd covered the whole map, I found loads of hidden valleys and villages with quest givers, it turns out i'd missed out on tons of quests. There is no need to bankrupt and bore yourself with a grind session - there's actually more than enough quests to do the job, if you can find them. And obviously , the quest rewards loads of cash for completion too.

Wow Jesterstear.... That's ***' nuts and SHOULD NOT be that way. I understand the idea of your gear decaying as you kill mobs but it should be FAR less, not more, than dying.
