Fix Dungeon XP

halojinix
halojinix
Every single thread in this subforum should be about the ridiculous, and unprecedented action taken by Zenimax to functionally remove xp from dungeons.

I can't even bring myself to log in. The dungeon experience as a healer or tank is so incredibly good, and for me, MUCH more enjoyable than any other aspect of this game.

Is this temporary? Is there a reworking in progress? Please tell me I just did not waste my money. An even more maddening plea: Please tell me that this incredible game and all of the time invested into creating it was not just usurped by such a mind-numbing decision.

I simply cannot believe it. It's the equivalent of watching an olympic team train years and years to compete at the highest level, to display an unusually high aptitude at their sport, to awe the world at their prowess, and then to smoke a faceful of crack 30 minutes before their event.

I want to enjoy the game. Please. Thank you.

What an awesome post! Of course I agree wholeheartedly! Thanks!

It's time for us to call on Zenimax for the answer to halojinix's question: Is this (dungeon exp nerf) temporary?

I've stopped logging in. They have my money. I just can't believe it.

Agreed, a bit more exp would be awesome!
And lootable chests that share loot while we're at it ;-)

I really love the dungeons but there seems little incentive to do them.

Cancelled today, questing has officially worn out it's welcome. I like to play mmos with friends/groups so this game is not for me.

Shame they intentionally alienate mmo players. This will come back to haunt them.

Totally agree!! No lvling XP in dungeons just killed this game for me. Will be playing Wildstar over this for sure now if this is not fixed. I mean really...I get more xp for killing mobs outside of dungeons...

An unfortunate remark as everyone has their certain play style. Often players will skip over content they do not enjoy for that with which they do. Normally, this is seen as an intelligent move as why would someone participate in content they feel to be lesser?

This also means that players will make suggestions for changes in games to better suite their differing play styles. I am unsure why you view this suggestion as "whining" considering the problem was caused by the Developers after having allowed viable experience from dungeons previously. Players who love to run group content in MMO's such as these dungeons would love to have that viability back.

No one is asking to force this play style on others. No one is asking to make Dungeon Runs give the fastest route to max level. Questing and Dungeons are not mutually exclusive content. Both play styles can co-exist in the same MMO, any opposition to Dungeon content being a viable leveling path is irrational at best.

I get the fact that Zeni is rewarding ppl more for questing, but pls show some love for the dungeons. If you complete the 3 dungeons of one tier, it's quite annoying to see that after 2 hours your xp bar barely increased. Not saying to get same amount of xp as questing , but something come on..

Same, i'm not extending my sub, i bought imp edition to show my support, because i love ES games, but game as it is now is a beta. Maybe i'll give it a try later if they fix the issues that are ruining the game now. It saddens ne because i've seen so many good games ruined because of releasing early instead of postponing release to polish it.
Dungeons are not viable for leveling atm. Engame is nonexistant. And please stop calling that quest grind an endgame. It's boring as hell (my personal opinion). No other options.

    Well said OP!

I can't imagine why dungeon xp was nerfed to nothing - what a poor managerial solution to the few who were farming it.

I like the game and enjoy all aspects of it (well, I don't really craft). But I look at the dungeons on my map and think "should I really bother clearing them just for the achievement?" I mean, I don't have unlimited time. And I want to level to 50 to engage in pvp without dying all the time.

Fix dungeon xp. Find a balance.

The abmyssal dungeon exp is just ***.

If you want people to quest and do those things, then make the questing awesome and stuff but don't make other aspects worthless (I like the quests as well so it's not an issue for me).

Don't force people to play just one way.

I don't understand why ZoS wants people to level exclusively via quests or AoE mob farming. There are dozens of play styles but they force people to play their way. In most games I play alts. I can't even stomach the thought in this game.

If people want to level via dungeons, pvp, or some other similar method, I don't see why ZoS can't let them.

From a financial aspect its suicidal to alienate potential customers. There's 5 types of gamers really. The quest/story lovers, the dungeon crawlers/raiders, PvPer's, crafters, and socializers. The first 3 paths should all be viable to get to max level with since there's risk versus reward for active game play. Socializers and crafters are more city bound and we know there's nothing to kill in town with your lute or alchemy bench. To not allow players to level to 50 in the style that they chose will make them quit and you'll lose the income from them. Then their friends will follow behind since friends enjoy doing things together. Butterfly effect engage.....

I'm sure you've thought of leveling alts in different alliances - may I ask why you haven't carried through?

I also 'suffer' from altitis :) and really, really, really don't want to repeat all the quests I just ran through in the alliance I chose. So I'm thinking to level an alt in another alliance - your thoughts?

If you do that you will have to do the same quests with your main character after you reach 50. Because the only way to level your character post 50 is to do other quests for other aliance.

I'm kinda disappointed about this. Half the fun of making an alt is experiencing another factions content. Plus, going through lowbie zones of other factions doesn't seem like "veteran" content, no matter how buffed up mobs are. I would've preferred it if they left the cap at 50 until they had an entirely new veteran area ready. This seems like a last minute addition to give us something to do until they add some actual "end-game" stuff.

Also, I agree with the OP even though this change doesn't affect me atm. I prefer questing to dungeons and have been leveling through that almost exclusively, but I see no reason why others shouldn't have other viable options to level. This also includes pvp.

I'm from DDO - got sick of the repetitive quests and came here (Turbine isn't focusing on content, but on systems and p2w).

But after playing for a few hours, I'm bored out of my tree with the questing. Maybe it's my fault for having the arrows and 'go here' sign turned on - although, tbh, I wouldn't know what to do w/out it - but questing and questing and questing, when the quests are as simple as 'go talk to this guy' and 'collect 5 of this thing' is boring me out of my tree.

Yes, it's beautiful. Yes, it's new. But we were promised variety and variety is why I paid for this game. I want it, and I want it here in ESO.

The biggest shame is the content is there, they've just intentionally made it a waste of time in terms of progression.

Don't make your players choose between progress and fun. Because in the end, we'll choose the door.

I fall into the dungeon/raiding group but
enjoy some PvP on the side. I can't tell you how disappointed I am to read the comments on this thread. Lack of sufficiently challenging and rewarding group endgame content is one of the few single issues that would make me quit a game.

I was unhappy that they'd nerfed dungeon experience but figured I could live with grinding quests until max level, when the real game would start. If there is no real game by the end of the 3-month subscription I've already paid for, I'm out as well.

The quests are better designed and more fun in this game than others but I play to raid, not to quest.

Not sure why they even made ESO if questing is all that matters. I can quest in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim all day - but I can't run dungeons w/ a group or PvP in them, and those should have been viable levelling alternatives.

Really bored by that nerf ,still hope they change it soon.
Still 16 days of subscription if no change ,i'll be off.
That is just ridiculous, tought they said we can play the game the way we want ?If i want to level up while bashing mobs its going to take me 10years to hit vet.10 ^^
