4/5 Lights of Meridia

Serouisly ZOS? You implement Archivements with Quest-Decisions we have to make?? When that is really the end of the song, i can throw my char in the trash because im a lore-hunter and that's allways my aim in a mmorpg.

I wish I had done my research before finishing the quest. I can confirm that if you pick warrior's side you will not receive Meridia's 5th light. I don't think that the quest presented enough hints to the fact that you are making the "wrong" choice by picking warriors as supposed to scholars (for instance, in Sheogorath's quest you are told that by saving Valaste you are giving up on "half a dozen of skyshards"). The sad part is that I cannot go back and "fix" my "mistake". I obviously won't reroll my character at this point, but I do think that they should implement a retrospective achievement granting.
Player choice should not have THIS much impact on the game. I can live with that fact that the game didn't give me a certain weapon, a certain amount of gold and even some extra skill points, but I cannot be happy with the fact that I won't be able to achieve full completion.

I can confirm that the Argonian Hist tree is the issue. I chose that warrior also, but when I went back to the tree (after reading the thread) I can see the dark crystal just sitting there - I assume you would destroy/acquire this crystal if you side with the mages...

I submitted a ticket...doubt anything will happen. Other than them sending a standardized response that does nothing to address the actual issue or indicate they read the ticket in any way...

Hey, I have the same problem and I sent Support an email and they said:

It is a known bug about the Achievement not being given after collecting all the Lights of Meridia, we are working on getting the missing achievements restored, and we will be pushing through a solution in an upcoming patch!

So I guess we wait and see :)

When making a decision based achievement, it should be a choice of two achievements.
When a quest response offers a permanent status change on one choice there should be a different permanent status change on the other choice, just allocated differently.

Making a decision based quest with a permanent boon on one choice and nothing if you opt for the other, is bad design.
I have found several quests that do this, and I have yet to see a consequence for electing my choice that did not provide an immidiate reward.

My reasoning: Here is a quest with a reward if I do this, but it is not the moral path I would like. I stick to my moral path, opt out of the reward and later in the game this choice will provide me with a benefit of greater or smaller yet different effect. Due to not seeing the reward up front I take a risk and therefore the benefit should be larger, yet it could possibly be useless to me.
Crafting research time reduced, crafting deconstruction improved, attribute improved, skill training bonus, faster sprint/mount/attack/ et.c.
These secondary benefits could be endless.

The quests are great, even awesome sometimes, when they work, but doing it again?

It is not a finished game when there is a high probability that the quest/zone/achievement/whatnot that I cannot complete is on the "we're working on it"-list.
Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

Exactly this. I think we should be rewarded the achievement retrospectively if we already completed it. Although a recent check on my achievement tab showed nothing of such changes, still 4/5.

I'm not sure if the granting of a light for siding with the images was intentional. I can't confine beyond the fact that I have 4/5 and have not finished the lightless oblique. But I CAN confirm that the 4th I found was not physically picked up. I was keeping track when I started and found the achievement and noticed there was one more than I had actually interacted with. Since it seems to be the argonians it maybe a bug.

i am also still 4/5 . Last patch did only remove my achievements (ticket opened but no response)
  • martinb16_ESO80
Not sure what I did wrong then, because I completed all the quests in Coldharbour, and I sided with the mages, and I am at 4/5 Lights of Meridia,

I have the same problem, I am absolutely sure I picked up all quest related Lights, but decided to keep hist tree alive, also stuck at 4/5 Lights, I really hope they attend to this, One Time Only HIDDEN Achievements without a chance to redo in any way are hairy balls. Can only Hope they set the Achievment to 4 Lights since the HIST Tree Quest seems to reward an invisible Shard. How extremely ANNOYING.

I sided with the Scholors, and did not receive the light, in the argonian village.

So No it's not obvious, and they don't just hand it to you. I'll go back and look for it.

FYI, I am running through Coldharbour with one of my alts and I needed 1 before doing the quest in Haj Uxith (Argonian Village). I chose the scholar's side and even tried the intimidate option to see if it blocks it... upon destroying the vampire crystal and completing the quest, my achievement progress moved up by 1 and completed. So, yes it does seem to be at that part. However, the update some time ago said either side you choose you will get the achievement so it should no longer be an issue for people.
  • midnighttechie
Almost two years have passed since the last post to this thread I see. Currently I am running around Coldharbour for the third time looking for this final Light of Meridia. Also have finished all quests here. If this was truly going to be fixed to where you could complete the achievement regardless of what you chose in the Argonian village..... I am sadly disappointed. It does not seem to have been fixed with an update.

The five lights are located at Haj Uxith, the Library of Dusk, The Moonless Walk, the Tower of Lies, and The Vile Laboratory.
They definitely did fix the Haj Uxith one, because I've got it both ways, but if you side with the warriors it's never made obvious.
(That doesn't mean that it hasn't broken again since though.)
