Stuck at Logging In: Requesting Character Load... (Internet Issue?)

Hello, my brother and myself played the beta, and now the original game, but we could never get past the Requesting Character Load part, when we tried to log in.
Many people write that we should wait it out, but we've waited many hours, with no results.
We then tried to make my mobile phone a portable hotspot, and used that's internet connection, and suddenly it worked perfectly. This indicates that there's something wrong with our internet, and I would like to know if we need to open some ports, or if there's anything we can do, to be able to play from our regular internet, and not our phones'.
This problem has always been there, since we got invited in nr. 2 or 3 of the beta invitations, and it's still here after the game has been officially released.
