Quest need help

I personally feel like ESO is lifting the middle finger to us: Hey, we can make this game as hard as we like, to show you all suck.
I know that you need the atronach to beat the last boss, but since it dies way to easy, you may just as well skip that quest.
I am glad that I didn't pay a longer sub. I give this game a month, but in my lifetime experiece I never seen such big issues being solved in just a month.

Now I understand why they didn't let us get higher than lvl 15 in the beta.

As a Nightblade using the bow, I'm very much helpless in this fight, even 5 levels above. The only chance I may have is switching to (unskilled) dual-wield setup and melee-interrupting, tough.

No, this is not a bug, but a bad design decision. And yes, whoever wrote the nasty comment on 0 bugs in the program, just players being ignorant, must have never fallen through the world surface or gotten stuck in combat mode.

This fight is pretty much impossible as a VR9 Nightblade. Her auto attack does way too much damage to heal through and 'sometimes' the heal channel she does is uninterruptable(probably lag). She just needs 1 cast to screw you over. The only CC possible on her is melee interrupt, so if you run out of stamina you're screwed.

I'm a lvl 39 nightblade ranger and I was gonna get to 40 and get new gear and try it again but I'm not hopeful. If anyone wants to group for it let me know, I'm Moi.523 in game (NA Server) and on in the evenings Pacific time. maybe if we get a group we can kill the *** and be done with it

I am melee and my interrupts/stuns don't seem to work every time or they don't actually activate with the LMB/RMB combo. This is a little frustrating since if you miss one interrupt it's almost like starting from scratch.

Also, the placement of the boss is a pain since she ends up in strange spots where targeting also gets off.

Really a pain.....

yes, ive passed (after 5 atempts) by blocking the boss heals... really boring... but works

I finally defeated Varo after reading the hints in this forum. I originally spent about a half an hour fighting, but I gave up; it was like a Mexican standoff.

So as a level 40 sorcerer, I conjured a Twilight and Clannfear, and had the flaming pet all attacking at the same time. I had bounded armor, and ate a 230 food for health. As stated previously, I was literally in Varo's face constantly firing my staff , using shards, and then hitting my interrupt key repeatedly, moving back and forth to avoid the frost spells. It took 10 minutes to finally kill Varo using this method. My wrist still hurts.

This boss fight and several others really suck in their design. One minute you feel like a God killing a troll with 5000 health and the next minute you defeated by four mud crabs; really messed up.

After beta and two and a half months of playing this game, I am getting tired of the designed decisions that are really stupid. It's like the designers don't have a clue as to what makes a great MMO; they just tried copying everything from the other successful MMOs and just made a mess of the Elder Scrolls name.

Anyway, thanks for all of the tip for this quest as I can now move on to another poorly designed boss fight. The AI in this game really sucks too. I'm debating if I should just cancel my subscription and try another MMO.

Thanks goodness for this thread!! As a sorc, my mouse interrupts just weren't doing the trick, so at the suggestion of several here I added a keybind for the interrupt. Still made it a very long fight, but finally kill the boss. WHEW!

the funniest thing is i checked this thread, was trying the same stuff as others but it didnt work. after 1hour of triying i just ported out and was checking my quests.
my quest said talk to Arithiel and so i did and the quest was finished.
point is, once you killed the 3 mages doing the ritual the quest is done, you just have to kill cassia varo to get out of this area or once u die u port out and done

Most stupid quest ever. It is impossible as a NB VR8 Bosmer.
Interrupting is not the issue, it's that you are short and below him,so when you interrupt it pushes him out to the top of the pillar where you are no longer reach to interrupt. You can't jump up there to reach.

That coupled with the ability to freeze you and heal to full is ridiculous.

This is the 3rd such quest where the only way to beat it is to cheese it somehow to the point of cheating.

I did finally finish this as a lvl43 NB Bosmer and I am pretty short, what I did was draw out the add first and kill it, then run back to the door to get the fire thing to respawn. I just ran right up to the boss and jumped on the platform with him dual daggers and spam block which I put on my caps lock key to make it easier to just spam it. It went fairly well when I did this and got him down in one attempt. Stayed right up in his face close the whole fight. but yes there are way too many bosses that are way to hard to solo. Im 47 now and still stuck on the (I think) lvl 35 story quest...IDK I haven't tried it in a while cuz I just get to frustrated! I don't even play that much any more probably gonna go back to guild wars 2 at least I can have fun playing solo there and the quests are all finishable.

Just did it as a level 39 Bosmer Ranger using 2H weapon and interupte, you just have to keep real close to him and time your interrupes (aweful spelling I know) died twice before I keep him close and personal.

I had a problem with this quest as well, being a NightBlade neither my bow or daggers would interrupt her healing no matter how many times I tried, but the strange things was my bow and daggers could interrupt her ice spell but not the healing even though I was right in her face.

So I left and equipped a sword and shield and this time the interrupts worked, so it seems like they want nightblades to complete this boss using a sword and shield or 2H melee. So much for ZOS saying you can play how you want.

Killed her solo by NB on vet9. It was hard but venom arrow interrupts her healing. So you should catch the moment to lower her hp to half without using stamina (I've done it with surprise attack from stealth and then soul assault) and then spam venom arrow.

Agree, venom arrow is the most effective cast interrupt I have found for NB

Wow. Poison Arrow (Venom Arrow Morph) came in handy for once. Rightly timed that really puts an end to her healing endeavours.

As a sorc I am running into the exact same issues. Was surprised initially that after 10 mins of fighting we were both unable to kill each other. Fought so long everything ended up re-spawning. Looked it up and at least it's not just me but this quest is turning out to be both frustrating and ridiculous. Have yet to encounter something this silly and I am doing this as a Vet 5.

I'm not sure if this advice might help those who have been struggling with this quest or not, but I was having a hard time as well, and what I found out with the interrupt (holding the right and left mouse keys) is that I had to be up close to the boss, and I had to push the right and left mouse button, let go, and push them again real quick (twice in succession) to get it to break the spells. Once I used that pattern, I was able to kill the boss within a couple of minutes and no longer took the huge damage I was taking at first, requiring me to heal and heal and heal over and over. Not sure if it's a timing thing on my part, or what, but that tactic worked for me. So maybe it will work for others who are struggling as well.

Hope this helps. It's no fun feeling frustrated in a game that's suppose to be fun.

"Interrupting" can be done by bashing with whatever weapon you carry on you, hold right mousebutton down and press the right mousebutton at the same time to bash.

However you can interrupt with skills too..
Templars have the first 4 skills in Aedric Spear line that stuns, disrupts, interrups, snares, sets off balance etc.
Sorcerers have crystal shards that give CC..
Destruction staff skill line has Destructive Touch - which in case of flamestaff gives knockback and ice staff gives freeze to target (lightning staff does not give CC with this spell). Crushing Shock that disrupts targets that channel spells - that goes for channeling healing skills as well.
Bow has Venom Arrow that gives poison damage (healing debuff) and stuns. Scatter Shot which knocks target back,
2Handed weapons have Uppercut that provides a good knockback to target and stuns.

I don't know much about Nightblades and Dragonknights, but I am sure you can manage with weapon skills, if not class abilities, to get around this bossfight.

So, I'm a sorc. What finally worked for me, after 3 Ultimates, numerous heals, &c. Get them off their pedestal, THEN interrupt their healing. You can't attack from afar, you have to be up close and personal. ONLY if you interrupt their heal will you get them down enough to finish them off.

I was frustrated by the fact that I dished out enough dam to kill them several times over, but they always healed before I could finish them off. Get them off the pedestal. Physically interrupt their heal (I bashed with my staff), and you can get the job done. It is an unusual kill.
