Hey everybody, we wanted to let you know about changes to how we communicate Crown Store updates on the website.
To help manage workload, we have decided to remove the Web Crown Store from the official elderscrollsonline.com website on Wednesday, July 22. The ability to acquire crowns via the website will remain and, of course, this does not affect the items that will be offered on the Crown Store in The Elder Scrolls Online, you will just need to login into the game to view and purchase the latest offerings.
Furthermore, for the same reason, the monthly Crown Store Showcase blog will also change. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will continue to reassess how we promote the Crown Store in the future-thank you!

Can you provide some additional context on what will be changing about the Crown Store Showcase blog? Not happening at all? Less pictures? No timeline?
Any information at all would be helpful.

We'll reach out to the team working on this and get back to you with specifics. This info is being close to being ironed out.

Thanks Kevin! I know a lot of us look forward to knowing what is coming each month with great excitement! Even just a bulleted list of items with dates with minimal pictures would be fine, but not knowing what is coming makes it very difficult to plan Crown Spending (and thus discourages spending overall), so I hope we get to keep it in some capacity!

So, the Web Crown Store is going to be removed, but we can still get crowns on the website? I am slightly confused, but I am assuming the Web Crown Store means the blog post?

No, I believe the Web Crown Store refers to this: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crownstore
I never knew it existed before this post announcing its removal!
The blogs are the here I think: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/category/crown-store
And we can buy crowns from this: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/crowns

Is this something that you can automate?
Purely hypothetical, but I would imagine that the crown store catalog could just be published via some webservice. The items in rotation have a flag that promotes them to the website, along with a description and image. A shift from a blog - which TBH I found a little hard to read after a while - to just a catalog. Can that be done?

The web crown store was a part of the website you could look at crown items. That will be going away. The blogs will be changing due to team bandwidth. So they will still happen, but be more list like than anything else.

That's going to be a problem for UESP because I know we use those high resolution screenshots from the official website on our Wiki.

The goal is to provide what we can. Especially because we know folks like UESP do use those shots. But to be blunt, the team responsible for the blog and those screenshots doesn't have the capacity to provide those at the scale we could before. But we will provide what we can for now and adjust from there.

I was under the impression that UESP took user submitted screenshots of stuff from ESO anyway for their wiki.

We need to overhaul our documentation of the Crown Store a bit anyway, but unfortunately it doesn't look like the full renders are included in the game files (unless I'm looking in the wrong place) which is why we were getting them from the website.

This is concerning news, admittedly. To my knowledge, the Crown Store is a pretty big part of what funds this game. Thank you for the update.

Something can be "not good" without the sky falling.
Notice how no one so far has said, "I will miss spending Crowns via the website instead of in-game" (though I'm sure they're out there somewhere).
