    Yeah, that's the point. Tamriel is where the entirety of the Elder Scrolls world takes place (Daedric planes excluded). And Bethesda would never allow ESO to tread new ground like Akavir (which I believe even Bethesda has said they would never visit).

    I think keeping things in Tamriel is short sighted, expanding to the rest of nirn brings whole new opportunities for content they could sell. They could offer whole new play experiences with the different races on those continents, their language systems, culture, politics, etc.

    If it’s true that Bethesda doesn’t want to expand, then I hope Microsoft brings in new management that does. I find those other continents highly interesting story wise and would buy games featuring adventures there.

    So no, ESO2 will never happen.

    The MMO market was 26 billion last year with a 15% projected increase. If they are failing it is their own fault as developers.

    And the mobile game market was 92 billion last year, has higher return on investment, lower development costs and a much faster development cycle per game. MMOs are not a particularly attractive investment and they take many years of development time and a lot of money to produce one title that may or may not do well. And the developers have very little to do with it, the money people control what gets developed. The developers have to sell the idea to the money people and MMOs are a hard idea to sell these days.

    That does not mean that they can't make good margins on the MMO market. If people would only service high yield sectors a lot of things would not exist. On the contrary, how much more can be milked from mobile gaming? How saturated is that market? How much less can they risk to spend on their established MMO before losing their audience to the competition?

    Having a popular MMO up and running and employing a reasonable amount of developers for it is hardly bad business just because other markets exist. Neglect is bad PR and proactive investment is what keeps good companies in business.
