Maintenance for the week of November 17:
• [COMPLETE] Xbox: NA and EU megaservers for maintenance – November 19, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)
Be honest... What did you choose at the end of the Mage's guild questline?
I always save Valaste. But one time I was clicking too fast and chose the skillpoints by mistake. I felt so guilty that I put in a ticket and asked that they let me redo the last quest in the chain so I could save her instead, but they didn't.
on my main character i chose the Skill Points so i could have all of them
miaow! i'm Luna ( she/her ).

By the time I had gotten to this choice I had long since gotten tired of the game telling me I had to randomly sacrifice a friendly NPC. I saved her. If Valaste wants to be crazy we still have the books, she can drive herself mad on purpose this time. 😝
That said, I haven’t bothered going through the entire questline since then, and I do have an Altmer sorceress who would probably let Sheogorath have Valaste - that particular character lives in the Shivering Isles and collects vampires, she’d be happy to have a new neighbor to chat with over alocasia wine.
I'm doing another playthrough where I choose the good option since there are more skill point options now. But I will admit on 3 separate characters I chose the skill point options. Earlier days made skill points scarce especially in the early game. Now we have several questlines and sky shards that skill points are more then plentiful to get your character going that having 2 extra isn't really necessary. I also hate leaving towns and places in a dampened mood in my rpgs anyway so doing a new playthrough is going to make me feel good......I also let Mannimarco out in the main quest because I was curious. Did not realize he would just call me a fool and leave.....XD
The first time, I saved the lady because I did not figure out that we would get an extra skill point by letting her go with him. Every toon since I went for the extra skill point.

Most of my girls chose to save Valaste. One of my mains was seriously starved for skill points, and chose that instead. I wish I had been able to go back and change that ever since.
Chances are good that if my character has pushed an NPC off a tower wall during a previous quest, Valaste is a gonner when it gets to the mage's guild quests.

All in training or divines. The staves should be training or infused), and 3 purple Willpower Jewelry with Arcane trait (can be bought from trading guilds for relatively cheap.
Check tamrieltradecentre.com for the best deals if you're not using a price checking addon).
Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).
The first time I ever did this quest I saved Valaste. I'd grown fond of her over the course of the questline.
But I think the second time I chose the skillpoints. Back in those days skillpoints were harder to get a hold of, and there certainly weren't enough to max out every skill in your Spellbook. So my logic was that even at max level I'd have 2 extra skills unlocked compared to everyone else who didn't choose that option (or 1 skill + a morph), and so allowing me extra tools to play around with in builds.
I don't remember. I'm not even sure I've completed the Mages Guild questline?
I usually just click through quests to get them done as fast as possible. I don't have all day to sit through the dialogs as there are too many quests that force players to wait for dialogs to complete. It's annoying and a waste of valuable time. Besides, I almost always have headphones on listening to music so won't hear the dialogs anyway. And forget reading - another waste of time in a video game.
Of course, that may explain why I have two NPCs in Vivec City left over from a Vvardenfell quest that I completed on my main that stand on the docks saying the exact same thing EVERY time I get within a few meters of them. It's annoying to hear them say the EXACT same thing EVERY single day I play ESO. /shrug
Saved Valaste more often. It seems to be the right thing to do given that Sheogorath made her that way and can easily reverse it.
In the end, skill point is irrelevant. I always have some laying around that don't get used.
This is incorrect. The book is making her crazy but her problem was present since she was a child and Sheo is the only one presenting a solution for it.
First time I went for the skillpoints, I was not level 50 yet and only explored the AD zones as at launch so skillpoint hungry.
Later saving her as it was past one Tamriel.
