What subclassing builds are you planning on using?

Play all classes but main in a DK and has been for 10 years now. She is the one that does all content and questing. After some thought, I just don’t see any skill line to drop for her. All are essential; if not the skills, then the passives are needed.

Could drop Draconic Power skill line, but burning talons is a nice DPS skill. Burning Heart and scaled armor passives are both nice to have solo.

The Earthen Heart Skill Line has Battle Roar passive, which with DK’s sustain is a must-have alone in itself. Same as Magma Shell for the solo player. Which is becoming a dead skill now with update 46. Might as well take Corrosive Armor since neither will build ultimate while active and both cost the same. Be nice if they would get rid of the searing heart passives and add the time to the base skills and move the Battle Roar passive to the Ardent Flame line. Then give the Earthen Heart skill line another passive.

Of course, you have to keep the Ardent Flame Skill Line for the DPS skills. So, nothing really to drop.

All of my other classes that (DPS) will be dropping at least dropping one skill line for the Assassination Skill Line from the Night blade. As this skill line is just too overloaded not to use.

    Stay safe :)

I'll probably just stay the same, since the lack of will to make more toons, but my ideas were reproducing eso druids, all three circles (more rp-wise than minimaxing really):

For Stonelore, i would be much like Archdruid Devyric himself, revolving around Storm calling, with green balance and either restoring light (for a defensive, support approach) or animal companions (ofensive approach).

For Eldertide, storm calling again, with winters embrace (for a more storm/water approach) and maybe restoring light/dark magic, or one the necro's

For Firesong, Ardent flame, Earthen heart, then something else (my dk is already all firesong themed, so can fit dunno, Dawn's wrath maybe).

But these are just ideas. Like I said, I dont want to make more toons. I have two, and my potential third will only exist if ZOS release an engineer/dwemer themed class.

Stuff like storm calling is so unbalanced that I can’t see less than 90% of the player base using it. The sheer versatility, defensive options, powerful execute, and resource regeneration makes it top-tier. I’m still appalled that they didn’t actually balance each class line before doing something so catastrophic to the game as cross classing.

My main is a magicka warden, so I want to add Storm Calling to his DPS build, and Restoring Light to his healing build.

I also want to add some healing abilities to my dragonknights, just to make them more viable in groups.

For group play, I am planning on doing the one or two meta builds that will homogenise all groups.

For solo... don't know yet. Need to find those one or two builds that this change will leave us.

Cyrodill is shaping to be one of the games of all times after 46

You don’t want to miss the show right after release guys. Book your calendars because it is going to be profound and unique experience.

Regretfully cheapened by the chat inaccessibility due to ban happy hallucinating AI clasp on it. Otherwise you would see plenty of funny remarks charged more than a Sheogorath’s staff.

Update 46: Salt Mines of Cyrodiil is dropping in June the 2nd. Ready your potassium supplements and drink plenty of water.

Finally have a way to drop lightning skill line from sorc and become a true full daedric mage by swapping in herald of the tome from arcanist.

Is it going to be unique? No, everybody and their mother is probably going to run fatecarver but it'll complete the sorc for me in a way I always wanted it to.

Reposting from what I shared in PTS feedback

Organized by what I find myself mixing in the most:

Nightblade: Getting access to mobility skills across all classes is a really big quality of life improvement. Nightblade's dash attack in particular is cooler than just about any other similar dash skill. I am very excited to be able to mix in Teleport Strike for PVE as its easily the most fun skill in the game for me. Having access to the Executes and Merciless resolve is great to. Really entertaining and I am hyped about having access to this across other characters.

Warden: Deep Fissure, Growing Swarm, Falcons Swiftness, and Cutting Dive are all great and this is probably the next skill line I am most likely to swap in across various characters. All of its visually interesting like Assassination and none of it mixes in awkwardly. Good 20 second dots, some added vulnerability, and big burst damage. Very fun.

Necromancer: Blastbones and Graveyard. I am going to experiment with these extensively. The graveyard timer limits where I will use it but the skill itself is great and quick to animate. Also like Deep Fissure being able to trigger Blastbones and immediately position for other attack skills is fun.

Sorcer: Crystal Fragements, Haunting Curse, Bound Armaments, and Bolt Escape are the 4 skills from sorcerer I am most interested in having access to on other characters. The pets from Sorc are of no interest to me for Sorc or any other characters. I find pets to be visual clutter and highly uninteresting for gameplay personally. The visual assets for the pets look genuinely terrible/distracting. Pets dont fit my perception of Sorcer theme as being primarily a lighting/storm caster. Fragments, Haunting Curse, and Bound Armaments though are interactive and cool to me.

Templar: Puncturing Sweeps, Focused Charge, and Radiant Destruction are the main draws for me for sub-classing. I very much wish Focused Charge did not have the taunt attached. Such a cool looking entertaining and interactive skill that I would use a variety of places if not for that. Having access to closers that dont taunt besides two handed charge will be good.

Arcanist: Probably has the skills I am least interested in leveraging across builds because of crux mechanic visual clutter and how it forces you into particular skill combinations. If I use anything it will be from Soldier of Apocrypha for access to defensive skills. It would be nice to have a way to hide the 'crux' visual for Arcanist since sub-classing in their abilities I am not always looking to include a crux spending skill as well. Tome Bearer and Fulminating are cool together especially since you get access to the green weapons visual. Would be great to have an option toggle Crux Tracker to a Status Box bottom right instead of floating triangles, would make me much more inclined to experiment with various Arcanist skills across characters and to play Arcanist more in general. Also having passives dependent on spending crux is a little awkward when your not using spenders etc.

I plan to have ten armories full with my Nightblade character...

First build... Nightblade-Templar-Dragonknight... being a fire-breathing Templar and focusing on fire status effect using Threads of War and Deadly Strikes sets along with combining Jabs with Leeching Strikes... Leeching Strikes will the one NB skill on all my builds.

World Boss build... Nightblade-Templar-Sorcerer... using Hardened Ward and Familiar.

    Plus... a whole lot more.

I could care less about group content, PvP or anything remotely related to min/maxing. I play for fun, and I play solo... and subclassing is going to be an absolutely blast for me.

I'm not worried about min-maxing, so I will focus on making a character that has a cool identity whilst also being good for soloing stuff. Currently eyeing up Ardent Flame for something, but am also interested in a Siphoning, Shadow and Daedric Summoning for a dark magic / blood magic build.
I I were to go for a lightwr character, it may involve Green Balance for Lotus and those tasty passives. Not sure. I have spent ages theorycrafting ideas and not settled on anything, so I am constantly looking for inspiration from other people's ideas.

On HA Sorc I'm thinking swapping Dark Magic for either Assassination or one of Templar skill lines (either Aedric Spear for passives + Blazing Spear or Dawn's Wrath for Radiant oppression and easier access to Empower for non Oakensoul setup).

On Frost Warden I'm planning to get Grave Lord for Frozen Colossus and Boneyard to get more frost based abilities.

It probably will not be optimal in any way, but I do not do anything harder than some older normal trials and soloing normal DLC dungeons, so I probably will be fine.

Well, if my behavior towards scribing is any guide, I'll probably do whatever is required to unlock it not long after it goes live... then take my time to put it to any use. It's not that I think subclassing is a mistake, but I like my DK, with whom I have almost 2 years of playtime. Will I stick to the familiar or try going down the weird (in a good sense) road? Right now I feel quite the temptation to try mixing with necro and/or arcanist. I could be a Necromongus who spits fire and raises the dead for profit or just a chat, or maybe a Carcanist who spits fire and beats people with tentacles. That's more for my solo build, with which I play 99% of the time. For more difficult and group content, I'd probably stick with my familiar build that spits fire and, well, spits some more fire.

Will only subclass for Group PVE builds, following the latest Meta.

Healer: All Class would have Restoring Light (Templar) and Green Balance (Warden).

Tank: All Class would have Soldier of Apocrypha (Arcanist) and Restoring Light (Templar).

DPS: Grave Lord (Necromancer) and Assassination (NB). Buffing class skills damage by 15% with Grave Lord's Sacrifice (this morph is finally relevant?!) and hitting enemy Boss with Incap Strike for the +20% Damage.

These are my go-to skill lines at least for now.

Would be curious too how those "conjurer" or "elementalist" builds will work out.

Aint even read the commend section but i can tell you most will be zoo build with necro sorc warden... why necro tho? nightblade also has a shadow that can fight for them too. anyways

And the second one will be elementalist warden, sorc, dragon knight.

All at the cost of balance.

but dont worry, barbed trap and flawless dawnbreaker will still be used everywhere because 3% dmg boost the fighters guild has for some reason.

That’s an interesting and expensive perspective, but it reverses the usual chain of causality.

Players pursuing optimization isn’t a “problem.” It’s a natural and predictable outcome of a system that rewards efficiency. If particular builds or combinations outperform others, players will gravitate toward them. That isn’t toxic behavior. It is rational engagement with the game’s design. Blaming the community for responding to incentives the developers created is misplacing the critique.

And yes, some players value flexibility and experimentation over optimization. That’s valid. But the existence of a meta doesn’t mean the game is broken. It means the system has structure. That’s not inherently bad; it’s just how competitive or even semi-competitive environments evolve.

If ESO truly wanted to be “Skyrim with friends,” then it wouldn’t have implemented rigid class kits, performance-based rewards, or skill-specific synergies in the first place. Those design choices built a foundation that rewards min-maxing. Subclassing isn’t a celebration of freedom. Instead, it’s a workaround for the limitations of that original structure.

The responsibility for how players behave within a system lies, ultimately, with the system’s design. And pretending otherwise only lets the actual architects off the hook.

I was skeptical about these changes but I can barely stand the eso pve elitists and I am warming up to multiclassing more and more.

In any competitive game that isn’t elder scrolls IP these changes would kill it single handedly but if it has a chance to work somewhere in current form then it would be this game.

I will probably create at least one master healer mage kind of character. Probably something akin to Templar heal line and arc and something else that gives buffs, then queue for harder vet dungeons after few tokes of hobbit leaf and ponder my experiences.

Well since Sorcs will have to do away with the Daedric Summoning line if they don't use it, I'm swapping it with Winter's Embrace for some frost magic, and then might swap out Dark Magic for Siphoning as well. Turn a negative into a positive and get to use some cool skills on my main like Ive always wanted to 😎.

My Argonians will probably get one line changed if I do change anything. Theyre pretty set in their lines and backgrounds, but open to looking more deeply at each one. The frost mage, im probably gonna take out the animal line, and replace it with Siphoning or Aedric Spear. The templar, might give him a DK line to swap out his healing line, like Draconic Power or Earthen Heart, as he's supposed to be a rough and tumble kind of guy (he likes lifting Wamasu, so maybe I'll give him Storm calling too instead of Dawn's Wrath).

My current idea is Ardent flame, Shadow and Siphoning. Go for a kinda 'witchfire' type character. Always wanted to make witchy character and, without 'evil' nature magic, this is probably the closest i will get. Might not be meta but neber mind, I can use armory to equip "group dps build" when needed.

    BG PvPer here ...

As we seem to be in the midst of a dot meta within BGs at the moment, I'm really looking forward to the Bone Tyrant skill line, mainly for the following passive:

    Disdain Harm
Reduce the damage you take from damage over time abilities by 15% while you have a Bone Tyrant ability active.

This will have easy upkeep due to popping Bone Armour.

The other passives look really nice as well.

Additionally, I'm also interested in the Ardent Flame skill line for DKs, mainly due to the following passive:

    Combustion
Increases the damage of your Burning and Poisoned status effects by 40%. When you apply Burning or Poisoned to an enemy, you restore 1000 Magicka and Stamina. This effect can occur once every 3 seconds.

I'm planning on using both Venomous Claw and Noxious Breath for this passive upkeep.

Ill be keeping the Aedric skill line on my Templar.

Not sure how it will pan out but looking forward to running BGs with these 3 skill lines!
