Hello everyone, in this post I want to discuss adding new possible grimoires, as well as a new way to get them instead of boringly buying them from a merchant.
Buying Grimoires
So, I'm not the only one who thinks the way to get grimoires is boring? Just buying, and no adventures for you. Not to mention scripts, the way to get them is a continuous grind.
I suggest adding to the merchant not the grimoire itself, but a map where you can find it.
(I mean when adding new grimoires, there is no point in redoing the obtaining of existing grimoires).
So when buying, we will receive a map that shows an image of the lair, as well as in what location it is located.
(This particular map has an image of the map of the lair from Auridon)
So, as you can see, on the map I depicted where the grimoire will be. But it is not enough to just go there and pick it up.
As soon as we reach the place indicated on the map, we find a glowing area similar to the one in the scribing quests. And in the same way, after activation, we will need to find 3 symbols in the highlighted area on the map.
After finding all 3 symbols, a grimoire will appear in front of the player.
(something like this)
As for me, this method of obtaining seems more exciting and fascinating. Go in search of an ancient spell, the description of which can be found in ancient Ayleid ruins, rather than just buying from a merchant.
I understand that it is implied that this is as if members of the mage guild developed new spells, but I think that our character is able to develop a spell himself, having studied the Ayleid ruins, or perhaps the guild itself would send us to explore the ruins, selling us a map.
Then after finding all the symbols, we would receive not the grimoire itself, but notes from Ayleid records. After we take these notes to someone in the Scholarium, we will receive a new grimoire.
Yes, it is not as interesting as it could have been when spellcraft was announced,
but nevertheless it is much more interesting than a banal purchase.
I suggested this particular method of purchase because I understand that the developers will not do something as interesting as it was in Spellcraft, due to the fact that it will require a lot of resources, so I suggested using methods from the already implemented game mechanics.
And what do you think about this? Is it easier for you to just buy, or would you like something more to be behind getting a grimoire?
Now about what kind of grimoires can be found in the Ayleid ruins:
Grimoire: Elemental Atronach/Pet
The type of Atronach/Pet will depend on the main script:
Fire - Fire Atronach
Ice - Ice Atronach/Ice Wraith
Poison - Voriplasm? Skeleton? Flesh Atronach?
Lightning - Sorc already has an Atronach, so we need to come up with something unique here.
Physical - Living Armor.
and so on.
Grimoire: Splash
Works like a torch (cone), but leaves behind an AoE
Grimoire: Teleportation
When used, moves you to the specified area, and at the place where you were (or vice versa, where you end up)
an explosion is created.
Grimoire: Come up with your own
Write under this post what kind of grimoire you would like.
