We have all likely seen "what is your favorite chapter" polls, however I believe that it is time to spread negativity for a change. What chapter do you despise the most?

Personally my vote goes to HIGH ISLE. The card game was pretty underwhelming and niche for a chapter's selling point. ALSO High Isle is when U35 happened, which is when Templar jabs became what they are now, so it is YET ANOTHER 👎 for High Isle.

I love that Companions were introduced in the Blackwood Chapter, but they're not the Chapter feature, and my favorite Companions aren't found in Blackwood. I also didn't enjoy the zone as much as I enjoyed other zones. So, Blackwood is the Chapter I'm least likely to recommend to a friend.

I don't really have a least fave. The main story of High Isle/Galen is deffo my least fave, and I hate re-running it on my third character. BUT! I love High Isle and Galen themselves. Best incursions, soloable, best world bosses before they went mad with invul phases, again solo friendly but still a challenge. The environment is awesome. Love the sunflower fields and druidic nature.

Maybe Northern Elswyr as I don't like Cadwell (not a John Cleese fan anymore) and I didn't like the map. But then I like khajit.... Egh...

    I vote none.

I might be an outlier here but I did not like the Telvanni Peninsula or Apocrypha. Bastion Nymic was a chore. The Prime Cataloger was anti fun. Hermaeus Mora seemed like the bad guy but I was forced to side with them.

I waited until the Prologue quest for Gold Road before starting the Necrom storyline. That means I went nearly 18 months without playing any story content (Nov 2022 - April 2023). That's how much I disliked Necrom.

I have a great problem with Blackwood/Deadlands, some parts are cool like Deadlight, Longhouse Emperors, new enemies, but it lacks so many things. There are Plot-holes and non-sense, many places that got no use, etc...
Like the foundations are okay but almost nothing is built on top :
    -Sul-Xan ? No Lore
    -Incarnates ? No Lore
    -Agonymium ? No Lore
-Dremnakens eat knowledge : Why ? How ?
-The Tempest Engine ? No Lore
-Fargrave's Plaza of Portals ? Links to Deadlands only.
    -Fargrave's Bazaar ? Almost empty.
    -etc...

I positively detest electronic card games, not even Billy Boyd could make it palatable for me. But Gold Road ties for my least favorite, though I did like the idea of Mirrormoor, it just felt way too short to be considered a chapter or expansion.

I loved Summerset, Elsweyr and Morrowind the most. The characters and stories from those chapters were just the best, to me.

    Both Blackwood and Necrom.
While I preferred the atmosphere in Necrom than in Blackwood, both have World Events that I don't really enjoy, and World Events are top priority to me.

Blackwood introduced companions, which I appreciate, but the story was the most predictable ever to me, every character move... and yes, I am "the only" High Isle story enjoyer, so...

I'm not a fan of "dark themes" but Greymoor had cool locations, and snow!

I enjoyed the story content of all those chapters.

For me, it was a toss up between Gold Road and High Isle, because I don't engage all that often with the signature feature (ToT and scribing). I chose High Isle because I thought the scribing questline was great, so that's a positive for scribing. However, I've engaged with ToT more than scribing.

    Necrom
For me personally, Necrom was the worst. The storytelling, treating the hero as if they were an imbecile, didn't sit well with me at all. Gold Road is somewhat better in that regard, and overall, I rather enjoyed the main quest, unlike Necrom. The downside, however, is that it feels too short and quickly resolved.

On the other hand, all that routine with scribing, while somewhat fun, feels overly tedious—almost as much as the dullness of completing the Psijic Order storyline.

And although I know most people seemed to like Necrom, here's the strange thing: many of those people didn't buy Gold Road. I think Necrom gave players too many goodies, made the game too easy, and as a result, over the next year, people simply lost the motivation to keep playing. They used the overpowered new class to complete everything they wanted and then quietly left the game.

Necrom. Bastion nymics made me so upset I basically skipped the chapter after a short while and took a break from eso doing the absolute minimum in game.

    Necrom
I resent Necrom as a Morrowboomer for denying us new Morrowind lore. At this point, only Tamriel Rebuilt is going to explore House Indoril and that's scheduled towards the end of their programme. Although we have been getting pieces, including the site of the "Telvanni Peninsula".
Also, Necrom's story was so boring. So there's a secret that could destroy the world (which it obviously won't anyway) and we spend the whole quest line chasing maguffins that could reveal it or the antagonists chasing those maguffins. That should have been covered in the prologue and pre-chapter dungeons. However, I must admit that I like Apocrypha.

The developers for High Isle decided that Bretons were "underdogs" of Tamriel and extrapolate the Medieval European aesthetic into their being mundane Europeans. So they're still irrelevant instead of being among the greatest sorcerers in Tamriel as they were original written (as well as the original Direnni and Septims before Redguard). And the zone barely gave them room for exposition. There was the hub, Stonelore Grove and Amenos station, but beyond there, it was strangely undeveloped. Galen is distinguished as being wilder and more druidic than High Isle, but nobody lives in the north of High Isle and the shipyards dotting the coast seem to exist indepently of towns. Nevertheless, Bretons still exist in the rest of the franchise, so they might become interesting in TESVI or VII. Also, the isles are pretty and Tales of Tribute is honestly one of my top three favourite chapter features.

Gold Road did a lot right, but I'm not that that into it. I think it's almost completely an aesthetic issue on my part. Colovia has nearly always been portrayed as a bit bland. And yet I enjoyed the Gold Coast DLC's take one it.

    Necrom
Necrom looked like it would be fun at first glance... but then I stepped foot in Apocrypha where it all fell apart from there.

The Jaundiced appearance of everything in Apocrypha just made for an unnerving atmosphere, and I was always in a constant state of "wanting to leave". The delves are unnecessarily over complicated with disorganized multi-leveling, and horrible mapping. Bastioni Nymic being a very poor design choice for a world event (rivaling even the Blackwood/Atoll of Immolation Oblivion Portals), that you had to repeat entirely way too often. And the Infinite Archive (which I know many like) is an activity that I'd really like to stop doing except that new rewards are constantly gated behind it.

I liked the Telvanni Penninsula portion but there wasn't enough of it, and Sharp-As-Night is an awesome companion. But for me <shrug> that's about it.

    Blackwood
the worst one for me was blackwood

the story was exceptionally awful, between the blackwood/deadlands story and the black drake villa dungeon, it actively made me hate eveli (who i saw as a kind of funny side character before this chapter)

the zone also felt kind of bland, and there were a huge amount of unnecessary invisible walls to prevent you going over some mountains you absolutely could get over

the atoll of immolation was badly implemented too especially when they created a same-but-not-same instance of the same name in the deadlands that even to this day confuses people

the only good thing about this chapter was the introduction of the companions, but even then they were still implemented poorly (requiring to do the freaking intro quest on every character for something that is an account wide unlock was an extremely poor choice, especially with newer companions getting longer/more involved intro quests that make me want to use them even less)

IMO there hasn't been a truly good quality story since the Daedric War arc and perhaps Elsweyr's year.

Gold Road feels like it ignores the main character it's focused on by having very little lore for Ithelia and half the quests focus on Wood Elves instead, Necrom's writing is more of the "who are you again?" nonsense and it feels like it only thematically works if you play Arcanist (and it requires completion of it to get the ending of Gold Road even though they're separate chapters), High Isle has the card game which as a main chapter feature is lame and the Ascendant Lord as a villain was formulaic cliche.

I know it's hated here but I didn't mind Blackwood's story except for that thing at the start where the main character admitted to being part of the Dark Brotherhood (I guess Eveli is kind of annoying too.) Greymoor wasn't anything special either but it added Antiquities and Blackreach is a really nice zone.

    Blackwood
I chose Blackwood, but Necrom is a very close second.

The only things I really loved about Blackwood was the introduction of companions (I still enjoy the ones that were introduced) and the city of Leyawiin as a crafting hub.

Blackwood's story is very repetitive and commits a major lore error that I still can't get over. It also ruined Eveli Sharp Arrow, who was majorly flanderized.

It's the only chapter with no chapter-exclusive feature.

It's the beginning of the year-long storyline most guilty of treating the player like they're dumb.

The world event is overly long and they went out of their way to make it difficult to skip any mobs in there, even for stealth based characters. I see no point in that because it's not a dungeon.

The trial is not interesting either mechanically or as an environment. And we don't have any good way of hearing the stories anyway.

Overall, Blackwood feels like it's the least thought out chapter of all. It's companion story of Fargrave redeems it's yls a bit, but as a standalone chapter, Blackwood is the least fun of all the chapters IMO.

At least Necrom gave us Arcanists.
