Will Companions be able to use our Skill Styles?

I really love the blue skill styles I have so far on my Arcanist and hope we get more in the future. But I would love if our Companions could also use the skill styles we have learned on our characters. It would make sense that they may want to use them too since we travel together. Perhaps we could have a toggle in the Companion menu to "Use Players Skill Styles" so it would be a choice. Is this possible some day?

It'd be neat to use Skill Styles on the Companion equivalent of Player abilities. Though, that would cause complications if the Companion version of those abilities had slightly different VFX or animations than the Player version of those skills do.

But what if they actually like the styles they are currently using? Might it not go against their personality to choose a different style for them?

That's why I suggested a toggle in the Companion menu, similar to their being able to choose "Companion Outfit" or not now.

But that won't fit their "identities". No helmets/hats, no skill styles.

I'm sure they'll be fine with it. After all, you can force Tanlorin and Azandar to use Mages Guild abilities. I doubt they'd care what color their spells are.

This is not about Companions wearing helmets, which is a decision that was made when Companions were first introduced.

This is about skill styles and I have not seen anything that makes me think this would not be acceptable.

@ZOS_Kevin is this something that we may see in the future?

Except it is. It changes their identities, which they are against. If you're not fine with helmets/hats then changing their skills which were also designed and picked for them, should not be fine either. It should actually be less fine than helmets.

Yeah. If they don't mind learning certain skills for you, I don't see why they would care about colors. I like this idea. Although, I also think they should be able to wear hats.

well tanlorin doesnt really like "learning" mages guild skills, because you lose rapport every time you go into a mages guild to turn in the quest to rank up the skill line lol

granted its a borderline negligible -1 thats practically irrelevant

This has absolutely nothing to do with Companions wearing helmets. Helmets cover their faces so we can no longer see who they are. There is a thread on Companion helms where that can be discussed.

THIS thread is specifically about Companions using our skill styles.

The color of the spells we cast changes our identities? Next you'll tell me that wearing clothing changes our identities...

In my opinion, Companions should be able to use helmets. Those don't change their identity. The same can be said about Skill Styles, which is the subject of this thread — casting different colored spells doesn't change the identity of our Companions — especially since Class abilities are no longer unique to just one Companion.

Really, we don't need to see our Companion's face or skills to know it's them — they show their personality through their demeanor, battle quotes, and questline.
