Congratulations on the encounter with Lord Hollowjack! I found it very entertaining.

I did it with three other friends, and it was SUPER fun to figure out the mechanics for the first time. It’s not super difficult or anything like that, but it’s fun at just the right level. Having to pay attention to the mechanics and laughing when your friend simply forgets to crouch will forever be one of the most fun moments I’ve had doing an ESO seasonal event. It’s not as hard as a veteran dungeon, but not so easy that it’s forgettable—just the right balance for a group annual event! But I’d be 100% open to new events that are even harder and require more people, I thought it was SO cool, congrats ZOS!

(The quest is also really nice, I had fun with the characters, and I hope the number of Haunted increases in the coming years, with different and fun side stories).

1 Boss per major event would be awesome. Imagine a special end-of-year boss, a special anniversary boss, etc., etc.! (Anyway, it’s been a while since an ESO event made me this happy hahahaha).

I suggest trying while grouped with multiple other players. I have completed it twice, once in a group of four, the other time in a group of five. It's challenging, but fun! Oh, and bring soul gems, and don't quit if you die. Just rez with the soul gem and keep going. As long as your entire group does not die, you will complete just fine.

"For me, the eye wouldn’t close either, but he couldn’t see me. He would only see me if there was no eye on my screen at all (meaning, when I wasn’t crouching). Could that be it? Did you notice the eye was open, click stealth again to try to hide, and that’s what got you killed? (maybe that’s it), but yeah, the eye doesn’t really close.

I have my controller buttons mapped so that the synergy uses the same button for crouching - I don't know if this is what caused my issue but whenever I activated the synergy my character stood up during the whole animation and I got killed multiple times... Anyone else experiencing something similar?

(Btw, did it in a group, fortunately)

Edit: other than that, the new quest was REALLY cool! And a funny and refreshing idea for Hollowjack fight, but I still prefer to fight the Crowborne since this year is not bugged anymore XD

The crows can see you. That's why you've gotta use the Scare Crow syngergy. The trick though, is that you stand up to shoo it away, so Lord Hollowjack needs to be looking away from you when you do it.

At least, that's how it appeared to work for the group I was in when we did it.

It was a tedious fight. They took one of the most hated encounters in the game( the indrik boss), made it worse and put it as an event boss. It isn't hard, just annoying and slow. It is also very soloable.

Welp, I personally love the encounter with the Indrik, completely different mechanics from the rest of the game that require more than just mashing a bunch of buttons to measure damage with your buddy.

    Different and fun mechanics xD

You have possibly not spent enough time in vMoS attempting to get the no one is seen mechanic when you get randomly ported without being seen.

Done that several hundred times at this point, grouped and solo. I loathe the fight with a passion.

Thank you Kevin :) Werewolf players have been asking for the ability to sneak for a while now and while I don't expect a fix for this event right away, it would be nice if this could be added so we aren't locked out of other content, like the laser maze during the 2nd side boss of Graven Deep.

Yeah, it was a problem for me too. I tried to use WW during this fight, but since I was not able to cancel ww ulti & go back into hiding in time - I got Instagibed (felt kinda unfair tbh). And to make it worse, boss does this (I think) at least 2 times - at 70% health and at around 40% health (at least this is how it worked for me). I did not wanted to risk it & use WW ulti when boss was low on health, so I am kinda sad not be able to use Werewolf on ESO's equivalent of halloween. I mean I was doing that every Witches Festival, as it is kinda with the theme of the event.

    A little bit of feedback:

The boss generally feels unpleasant to fight against. I mean games are fun... when they are fun. But here, aside from the sneaking, there are also max resources drains and snares.

My fight with this boss eneded up looking like this:
Hold heavy attack while moving in slow-motion (snares). Occasionally use ulti or skill if you have resources after like 30 seconds of holding heavy attack. And every time I considered myself lucky if I even was hitting the boss, as there are multiple very similar enemies and boss barely stands out. There is a slight colour difference, but that is about it. Removing the boss bullet-sponge-like health bar took like almost 1 hour (Yeah, I soloed it).

Previous boss (crow) at least had interesting mechanics and did felt nice. This new boss on the other hand felt like some one was wasting my time lol.

Part of the reson is that it seem to be trial boss. Why ? It is not even Undaunted event. Why push trial boss to something like this ? If it at least had a couple of variants so it would scale to a group size . Like aside from having a trial variant, it would have a 4-man version or Infinite Archive version for a duo... then I guess it could have been fun experience.

I am seriously considering skipping this boss for the next days of the event, as I already got the Achievement, but I don't think it is worth the time spend, as it is very unrewarding & is not a fun experience.

What is the secret to get past the crouching part? Im still stuck on it and hes killed me six times already :(

It wouldnt be so bad, but every time I die I have to start from the beginning which really is kinda boring.

Edit: Yep, fight is very boring. I can crouch for about 10 seconds then something wipes out my stamina and I pop up and get killed. Then it goes back to the beginning where I just stand in front of boss doing heavy attacks (cant do anything else because stamina and magicka are wiped out) until crouch part, then get my stamina wiped and killed again, only to repeat it all over again.

Not gonna bother with this one but at least the crow one is good.

I'd like to highlight two other instances where the inability to crouch is troublesome. Since they're both PvE dungeon instances, and the issue is regarding the combat abilities of Werewolf, I suppose I ought to ping @ZOS_Finn and @ZOS_BrianWheeler for this.

In March of Sacrifices, the Tarcyr boss fight requires players to sneak. Werewolves currently can't sneak, but the 2nd side boss would give them immunity to Tarcyr's teleporting magic. The problem is that the 2nd side boss itself requires you to sneak! Unless you use Invisibility potions like I do in the upper right image, you aren't even given the ability to use the synergy to start the 2nd side boss:
    5nga6brmkymb.png

Theoretically, you could complete March of Sacrifices in Werewolf form from start to end without dying if you run a potion cooldown build with Invisibility potions. But, the 2nd side boss for the Graven Deep dungeon has an even worse problem — you can't use Invisibility to get past the lasers just before the boss, because these check to see if your character is crouching under them, not if your character is Stealthed or Invisible:
    daswpncunqxt.png

It's bad enough that the Werewolf-themed dungeon isn't friendly towards Werewolf players, but now a Halloween/Witches Festival boss isn't friendly toward Werewolves, either. A simple workaround like the immunity to the consequences of not sneaking isn't enough to fix the problem of Werewolf being unable to sneak, because there's other content in the game which require crouching instead of just Stealth or Invisibility.

I wanted to try this boss solo even though its meant to be done with a group. For the most part it's rather easy in phase one. As long as you got a couple of dots down and have pale order, the multiple adds don't pose much of a threat, though the constant fear is annoying on a mag character since you can only get 1-2 break frees out before you're too low on stamina to do so. The stealth mechanic is just like march of sacrifices, but there's nothing to pull you out of stealth except for the boss aoe, so it's much easier. The stealth eye doesn't close for me, but I wasn't pulled out of stealth, so it wasn't an issue.

Phase 2 is where it starts to become anti solo because he would regularly spawn 2 scarecrows that drain your resources fast. I think it's in the realm of 1000 per 2 seconds. Between the constant fears and the resource drain, if you don't have dots and hots active at all times, it can kill you. It may be easier on a stam character, though.

Phase 3 is pretty much the same, but he spawns 3 scarecrows instead of 2, and he spawns a big fire AOE that goes across the field. It doesn't do much damage and is pretty easy to avoid.

Overall it only took me 2 attempts. If it wasn't for the heavy resource drain, he would be a fun boss to solo, but you can't complain since it's not meant to be a solo boss unless you want to challenge yourself. The game even gives you a disclaimer saying it's not meant to be solo'd. I don't know the max group size for the boss, but if it's 12 players like the crow boss, there's nothing to complain about, he'll go down fast. I'll be fighting him with a group like he's meant to from now on because there's a lot of people forming groups.
