What weapon skill line would you like to see next?

✭✭✭✭✭
Polearm
A skill line focusing on long-reaching melee combat. Spears and polearms could offer a mix of piercing and sweeping attacks, potentially incorporating some crowd control and area-of-effect damage.

Crossbow
A ranged weapon option that differs from the bow, focusing more on high burst damage and armour penetration. Crossbows could be slower but hit harder compared to bows.

Unarmed
A skill line focused on hand-to-hand combat, potentially drawing inspiration from martial arts or monk-like abilities. This could be a unique stamina-based option without a traditional weapon.

Bard/Instruments
A skill line that uses musical instruments to cast spells, heal, or buff allies, drawing on the idea of a Bard class. This would be more of a support-oriented skill line but could still offer some offensive capabilities.

Rune & 1 Handed
A hybrid skill line that combines melee attacks with magic, possibly focusing on enchanted blades or or allowing you to sling spells whilst swinging a sword. This could be a versatile skill line usable by both magicka and stamina builds.

Thrown Weapons

This skill line could focus on throwing weapons such as javelins, throwing knives, or axes. It could provide a mid-range option that balances between melee and traditional ranged weaponry.

Whip/Flail
This skill line could introduce a weapon focused on crowd control, debuffing, and unique attack mechanics like grappling or disarming opponents.

Alchemical Thrown Flasks

This would involve the use of alchemical concoctions in combat, such as potions, flasks, and vials that can be thrown or used to buff oneself or debuff enemies. It could be a blend of damage, support, and utility.

Battle Standards (Flag Bearer)

This would be a support-oriented skill line focused on placing battle standards or banners that provide buffs to allies or debuffs to enemies.

Rune 2 Handed
The Rune Dual-Wield skill line lets players conjure powerful runes in both hands, blending offense and defense with dynamic spellcasting. This versatile skill line offers a mix of area damage, protective shields, and support buffs, allowing for fluid and impactful combat.

As much as I'd love an Unarmed Magicka tree to be a thing, I think 1Handed & Rune is the more appropriate option to accommodate all build desires. It would be a proper BattleMage.

I could imagine slashing your opponent than blasting them with a beam of ice for example.

Spear, for obvious reasons. So we can ditch the Nighthollow Shovels.. Ah yes, please change that hideous animation and add Spears under the umbrella Polearms. Then move onto Unarmed and then Crossbow for sure. After that, anything is game.

I mean, it KINDA is? We have unarmed light and heavy attacks, and we can use class abilities, we just have nonexistent wep/spell dmg.

Spears. Would like to see some love for stamina. Necromancer is magic themed, Arcanist is magic themed, spell crafting is magic themed. I do want 1H plus destruction with fireballs, ice shards and lightning bolts wielded in one hand but spears first.

Bard would be cool but that should be a class. I wish they did something more with the Bards College in Solitude.

of these options, pole arm for sure. That would be my first choice for a new ''stamina'' weapon. Otherwise I'd want to see a new magicka based staff based on a different magic school type like alteration.

My stam characters (all my mains on 4 accounts both PC megaservers, plus many other stam characters of different classes) would never use spears/polearms. Such inelegant backward barbaric weapons....

More fitting for a game like Conan for sure.

I had ideas posted somewhere for unarmed but I can't find the thread anymore. Basically my idea were for weapons called "Cuffs".

Cuffs would be worn on the hands/wrists and override your armor style unless you chose to hid them. They would be upgraded at blacksmithing stations.

I just want staves to be one handed so we can have some sort of magical orb or a hovering spellbook on the other hand(You'd be required to have that on the other hand). Something like Diablo but with a staff instead of a wand.

I'd lean towards Polearm or Rune + One Handed but, I think the Scribing system has potentially damaged the possibility of getting any new weapon skill lines.

It was a bit of a challenging to come up with new skill lines that didn't overlap before when you needed five skills along with the light/heavy but, post-Scribing you'd now need six and you have to deal with competition from Scribing abilities.

Yeah.. to fit the channel duration but honestly it's a sloppy job.... Indie companies would've done a better job.

I'm not entirely sure we need new weapon skill lines.

If we were to get a new weapon, it would have to be one without any styles present, otherwise ZOS would have to retroactively make an appearance for that new weapon type for every style — players would complain if they couldn't use old motifs on the new weapons.

Further, adding a new weapon type would punish everyone's Item Set collection across the board, raising the price of reconstruction for almost every item set if we haven't collected the new weapon type. We would have another weapon type to deal with when running PvE content for a particular weapon, and random boxes (such as those item set containers bought in Cyrodiil) would have another weapon type to further reduce the odds of getting what we actually want.

Rune and 1h are the most likely weapon lines to be added if it ever happens. Not only does magika need more than one weapon skill line designed for damage (compared to three for stam), but it is also the easiest for Zenimax to add since they would work with dagger designs within each motif.

One-handed and Rune has been a request for ages now. And it absolutely fits the game at its current state imo. The one handed weapons are the same; no need for change. The runes are magicka trinkets, they can be simple glowing auras; no need to revisit the motifs to fit the rune appearance.
