Oblivion portals shouldn't be in the endeavors

I get that not everyone is in a guild or has access to map add-ons. Maybe ask in zone chat if people have seen a portal somewhere?

    I've not had any problems.

Read zone chat, find portal, run to end boss (usually through already depopulated stages), gank final boss with 20 other people.

Took less than 10 minutes today.

With this month's theme being Deadlands and Dagon-ish stuff, there's definitely more Oblivion Portal related endeavors coming up.

Fastest way to do this in my experience is to just port to a guild mate or a friend in the Atoll of Immolation (Blackwood public dungeon/world event). If you ride around without direction, it's gonna feel exhausting and taking way longer time than needed.

There's a portal that spawns just outside Leyawiin. There's others near both of the crown houses. Those should be a bit easier to spot than other portals.

You can also keep an eye on zone chat or port to a guildmates inside the atoll of immolation.

Something else - portals have a distinctive sound that carries a long way so listen as you're looking around. Once you hear it look around and/or get to high ground and look for the orange glow.

Asking in zone is probably going to be quicker though.

The one outside Leyawiin seems to be always active when I'm there. It's kind of weird really. There's another one near Blueblood that also seems to be up a lot. I always have a gob of surveys in Blackwood, so I spend a fair amount of time there.

Deadlands I don't know about - no use at all for that zone.

why bother looking for portals in the wild while you can simply find someone in atoll of immolation from your friend or guild list then teleport to player?

Except that assumes there's someone on those lists who's in Atoll of Immolation, which might not be the case.

Also, some players apparently don't join any guilds because they don't want to, for whatever reasons.

So sometimes looking for a portal on your own is pretty much your own only option.

Use the search engine of your choice and look at images. I find The Deadlands a little easier to do and find. There were about 8 or 9 players at the one I did today. just follow other players. Go inside some of the portals and if you see anyone follow as they are probably going to one.

It's been pretty easy for me. I wandered around today killing stuff to get enough blacksmithing items to deconstruct for another endeavor, and eventually happened upon an active portal.

People were posting portal locations regularly in zone chat.

Had another group out there looking for Havocrel bosses. Just happened to be standing a few feet from one at the time and let them know. So I helped kill a couple of those while I was pottering about in the Deadlands.

Well since everyone will be doing Oblivion Portals for the endeavors and free non-combat pets, hopefully more people will report that the Atoll of Immolation is bugged and causing some people (and their companions) to constantly go in and out of combat. I searched the forums and this bug is over 2 years old...

I didn’t care to do this Endeavor, but I have found that the Deadlands is a better place to find them since the zone is smaller. You can usually just ride a loop on the road around the edge of the zone and see several portals without having to leave the road.

Also, I believe there are two different versions of the Atoll, if I remember correctly only the Deadlands has the lead and the furnishing plans drop there.

Quick port to the blood pit wayshrine in deadlands. Turn right, short run down to the portal, stopping to pick some flowers.

Enter the portal... the way had already mostly been cleaned... catch up with a group, do some damage, onto meet up with ol Dukey, Havocrel... who went down like a sack of potatoes.

Picked up the lead for the black gem shelf (yawn, again?) and stayed on for another go at the Duke of Storms because the rewards from the chest were rubbish.

Second go, Dukey went down even faster... the rewards were worse.

Exit portal left, not pursued by any mobs.

This might be better off as a separate topic, but I have a question about the final boss, the Duke of Storms.

What triggers his immunity phases? Last night as I and several other players were fighting the Duke, someone yelled out "Don't bash him, we can take him out quicker if he doesn't go into his immunity phase!"

I don't thing I was bashing him, and I can't speak for anyone else who was there, but on the few occasions when I was soloing an Oblivion portal he kept going into his immunity phases while I was fighting him with 2-Handed melee weapon skills. Is there a list somewhere of which types of attacks trigger him to go into an immunity phase?

being interrupted during his channel is the main way he gets immune phases + a hp thresholds

he does his channeled attack at like every 15-20% hp or something, and if hes interrupted from any source (players or companions) he does the lava port to the middle and starts an invuln phase

i have on occasion seen him die as quickly as 5 seconds, but this requires absolutely nobody running any kind of interrupt skills or bashing him while hes channeling

If I'm not (knowingly) bashing or interrupting him while I'm soloing him, it must be coming from either Bastian or Clannfear-- unless I'm unknowingly activating the right mouse button while holding and moving the mouse.

By the way, I checked UESP before asking here, and there was no mention of anything triggering his immunity phases, so as far as I've ever known (until now), it was something that was just scripted to happen every so often, not something triggered by player actions and therefore preventable.

i dont think the clannfear can interrupt, because the boss is immune to CC, but bastian could certainly interrupt with bashes if hes on a melee build

theres also a lot of skills which can interrupt on cast (venom arrow for bow, crushing shock for destro, deep breath DK skill, templar spear charge, shrouded daggers for dual wield, etc just to mention a few) not to mention interrupt can be something applied to scribing skills too

i think the shield throw can be counted as bash dmg and can also act as a range interrupt

this isnt the only situation in the game where its actually not advised to interrupt the target (the iron atro boss in the cauldron dungeon can be killed significantly faster without interrupting his channel and making him move as well, kind of a similar circumstance to this)

This game has it's fair share of issues, but honestly this isn't one of them. Head to the Deadlands and they stick out like a sore thumb, or do as @benzenexz suggested and utilize your guild rosters.

People in chat were asking if any were up, and other people were calling out where they were, I started riding towards it and saw a different one so I called that one out, too.

But this is such a weird take. Its not that the portals should not be in endeavours (which are voluntary and you don't have to do) but that the portals should be on the map.

Honestly, the most annoying part about portals is finding them. I get they want them to feel random but they already don't because I have to look them all up if they aren't in the couple spots I know.

Picking up the daily quest should be changed to show you a current portal.

I find them by porting to guildies who are in Atoll of Immolation. If you're not in a guild, it's worth joining for the non-social perks like this.
