Mages Guild Questline

I'm struggling with the mages guild quest line. My main character had no trouble with it but this character hasn't done everything in order - she just wants to unlock the daily quests to get scribing skills.

Completed 'Simply Misplaced' but no quest giver popped up and it's not in my journal anymore. Tried travelling to Marbruk but Valaste isn't there.
I haven't completed the Grahtwood zone with this character yet.

Can anyone help please?

You need to advance the mages guild skill line by reading lorebooks (the purple ones).

You only need to advance the skill line to rank 5 to be able to finish the mages guild quest series. Advancing any further in the skill rank is only needed if you need some of the mages guild skills.
