Small and Medium Sized Home Wish List

Although many of us in the housing community enjoy large homes, it has often been said that we'd like more small and medium sized homes. Often times, we even see homes that would be perfect for us in the overland, but they are never used for housing.

I am making this thread with the intention of consolidating feedback in regards to small to medium sized homes we'd like to see- feel free to post your own unique ideas, or provide screenshots and references to overland homes that you think would make great small and medium sized houses. (You may also feel free to link threads or posts about this topic in this thread to further consolidate feedback)

I will be continuously updating this first post with a list of homes you'd like to see, as well as links/screenshots (if there are any) posted under spoiler tags, and credit to the user who posted the idea.

So far we've got:

- Hunter's House (a crafting station area which contains Stuhn's Favor set) (Wolf_Eye)

zK4kktc.png
u91mhQw.png

- Buildings in towns where the doorway is blocked (such as some of the homes in Windhelm) (SilverBride and Desiato)
-Erlibru's Cottage in High Isle (TaSheen)

ON-interior-Erlibru%27s_Cottage.jpg

-Cottage in Skyrim (Located south of Deepwood Vale) (ArchangelIsraphel/Me)

t99eiNq.png

- A smaller vessel similar to the Fair Winds, A small house in Seyda Neen and a house made of books in Cipher's Midden would probably be my top 3 requests. (Shagreth)

-A medium sized treehouse. Like a real tree, where you can live inside. Like the ones in the City of Ash dungeon or some wood elf zones like the one in the center of Vinedusk Village (Phoebe)

-A smaller house in the Summerset-style (Lugaldu)
- A list of ideas by LunaFlora:
  • Summerset cottage, similar to this home in Russafeld
    mihtwbaucyc7.jpg[/img]
  • A house like the White Stallion inn in Blackwood
    nxi5b4gz4z1i.jpg
  • An apartment in Belkarth
  • A treehouse in one of the Valenwood zones or Dawnwood in the West Weald. (Doesn't have to be gigantic like in Cornount, could be that the entrance is a ladder that takes you to a house high up in a tree.)
  • Markarth house would be fun too as it like most towns has plenty of houses with locks on the doors

Note: this is a consolidation of feedback gathered in a thread that began in the General's forum by another user. I am starting this thread with their permission. Please keep posts on the topic of housing, thank you!

Legends never die
They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause

    Whoa, this is SO lovely!

Personally, I'm wishing for a medium sized treehouse. Like... a real tree, where you can live inside. Like the ones in the City of Ash dungeon or some wood elf zones like the one in the center of Vinedusk Village.

Also would like a small/medium house in Orsinium main capital but I don’t think they have chained off buildings in that zone.

See the thread from 2018 titled “The Balmora Problem” — too many locked doors in every local! Some could at least be put to profitable use as player houses! :)

I would love a townhouse in Balmora, similar to the Redoran townhouse the area quest takes you to, or it could be smaller and/or differently laid out to fit whatever space is implied by the external architecture. Balmora is special for how much time I spent there in TES III — it was my first base-of-operations as it were.

Similarly, I would enjoy an apartment in Vivec City. The inn room is lovely and I would very much enjoy a similar or two-room space with more furnishing slots.

Oh you know there's another little house I've always wanted. Well, technically, an inn room.

I've always wanted an inn room in Fargrave. I feel like there'd be room for one in that bar place the Wishbone in the Shambles. Would just be nice, lore wise, to have this feeling there's a place to stay temporarily in this weird and cool Oblivion realm. The sort of "my adventurer stayed the night here to rest".

The mansion in Fargrave is nice, but it just doesn't have that feeling. A little too ostentatious and disconnected from the town for my taste.

Ooooooh I LOVE this idea, I've wanted something a little smaller and more secretive feeling in Fargrave as well. Something that makes you feel like you're blending in with the locals.

This makes me wish we could get apartments with a view of the outside- wouldn't it be amazing if we had one that included windows/arches overlooking a view of Fargrave from high up? Or a balcony we could walk out on, with an intractable chair we could sit on to watch the goings on below.

cool thread love the ideas here nice to see the community spirit from everybody ya'll are awesome people

I really want a different apartment in Leyawiin. every time i port to my small place there, I wish that it looked like the apartment of the two brothers who live next door.

its a two room area with a real nice window, but I'm not sure how do you call it? English is not my first language- it's a big window which sticks out and is fancy, I think it is called a "bay window"

I like the way the room has a bigger entrance room where you can have chairs, then a smaller room to the side where a bed can be tucked away

it would be cool to get a 200 slot house for this or something

It's located inside the kaladas inn next door to pilgrims rest

Erlibru's Cottage in High Isle is one I sent in a request for. It needs to begin at that entrance with the three pillars. That whole area is beyond awesome and would be perfect as a Classic.

Also, when was the last time they added a Staple house to the game anyway? I started playing around five or so years ago and I haven't seen one Staple house added to what was already there.

I'd also like to see a new class of house, Tiny. It can be the size and furnishing limit of an apartment. Make them small caves off waterfalls, little islands in the middle of rivers, a hole in the wall of a caved-in ruin, etc. Basically an inn out in the middle of nowhere rather than in a building in a town.

To add to this ESO does need a buyable home in each zone, if you want to live in Murkmire your only choice is a giant Xanmeer in the literal middle of nowhere, if you want to live in Hew's Bane your only option is a Palace, this is not acceptable.

ZOS could add a bunch of homes to fill out the staple and classic home categories, imagine a shanty in Slag Town, a home in Sadrith Mora, a Mud Hut in Lilmoth, a Shack in Dusktown, a House in Orsinium. a Townhouse in Anvil, something more suited for a thief in Abah's Landing, Maybe a hidey hole to call your own in the Shambles of Fargrave or perhaps you fancy a haunt in Cipher's Midden or Wretched Spire.

I don't know if they think adding smaller houses for gold in the game will cut into their crown house sales but I don't believe it will. Anyone who can afford the crowns will still buy a big Notable if they really want it.

Adding my voice to the request for more medium/small houses. For me, it isn't even an issue of furnishing slots. If slots were unlimited, I'd still want medium or small homes. My ideal is entering to a nice yard with a medium or small house on it. I love housing and I love the styles of a lot of the recent offerings (Sweetwater Cascades, Gladesong Arboretum, Willowpond Haven). Unfortunately, they're just too big for me.

I don't want to take them away from the people who love expansive mansions or multi-building properties, but please consider releasing some scaled down versions for the rest of us.

It probably speaks to what most people dream of in terms of real world home ownership.

Massive honking mansions can look spectacular but take money / value etc. out of the equation and most people would probably choose something smaller given the choice.

I do plan to finish furnishing the Grand Psiijic Villa. One day. But Mathiisen Manor is not just a superior style for my tastes, but also a better size for a home.

Yeah it would be so cool to have a window or balcony to look out on things. I recognize that housing is it's own instance, and so we could never see players going to and fro. But we could see NPCs "on rails", like how the new Redguard Redoubt house has those foxes and dunerippers occasionally coming to and fro on a loop. Or even just not have NPCs show up at all and just admire the aesthetics of the environment. I would be so for that.

Oh yes please! I have this Skyrim mod called "Hidden Hideouts", and I absolutely love it. It adds all these tiny little hideaways with bedrolls (and often cooking pots), and so it feels more like my characters are rugged adventurers, going from place to place and taking shelter where they can.

This reminds me so much of that mod. I would love to have a little hideout out in the middle of nowhere for my toons to rest. I often take breaks to rest at crafting locations, as they often look the part of little hidey holes.

I need to get that mod for Skyrim! That sounds like its right up my alley.

I've often thought that the Vestige should have a more rough-and-tumble little hideaway, similar to that of the Prophet, during the initial stages of coming out of Coldharbour. Someplace where they're keeping their head low, trying to evade the notice of Molag Bal. (I know not everyone roleplays their character that way, but I really get into the Coldharbour storyline)

I really wish each alliance had some kind of little hole-in-the wall type of ruins/cave thing you could customize.

(Or just give me the harborage afterIsacrificetheprophet I mean so I can keep it nice and tidy for him for when he...ahh...returns. Yes. Returns. : D )

OOooohh.... a small house in Shornhelm. It's the main town in Rivenspire and has not even a room at the inn. There's not many houses there that aren't in use so need to be creative!

Personally I have ALWAYS wanted it to be in the wall lol. There is a locked and chained door leading into the outer wall. For some reason it has always intrigued me, no idea why. Locked doors in alleyways in this game have always grabbed my imagination.

A curved home inside the wall - with that door leading back into the town and another leading out the other side.
    It's behind the Mages Guild.

Auridon. Backside of Skywatch on the shore. Those raised "islands", little bits of land on a thin rock formation rising out of the water mostly

May we PLEASE have those as a house? Entry can be a rope ladder. They can be small to classic, some only one island and some 2-3 islands we can join with bridges. Oh and don't put anything on them other than plants that we can move around!!!! Let us take it from there.

Exactly. What if I really like the look & vibe of an area, or sometimes only the music? Many times I have wished I could just.. build in X or Y zone, but ESO is not that kind of game, so why not give us more options? Most of the time the option is a rotating house that comes once every year or two and costs 100-130$, that's just sad design.

Yes, this too! My character is a bosmer and she wants a home that isn't tree pod!

Another one in my wishlist is Elswery style home in Northern Elsweyr that isn't so mouldy! Lucky Cat is the only non large/manor sized Elsweyr style home but its so mouldy that I passed on it 🙃

I also don't like temple-y style, I want a home like one at Lion's Cradle, just less worn and mouldy.

I know that custom house is an option but I am not much of a builder.
