Putting the obvious $40 pay to win in PvP aside, I see more tank and ballgroup meta....which...I feel like we've had enough of in PvP.

Every chapter costs money and has sets or skill lines that are exclusive to the chapter.

so antiquities and mythics (which is tied to western skyrim, and several other chapters if you want to dig up all the leads) is not considered pay to win for pvp? lol

or how about any of the classes that are paid for?

and all the content that has gear tied to it (group dungeon dlc, chapter dlc, etc)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Not to mention that, as a chapter, Gold Road will be bundled with the base game, all previous chapters, and sold as the entry point for many new players.

Bringing them in and then excluding the crown feature of the product from competitive content is a dead-on-arrival proposition.

It's new content. It's going to cost money. No one is paying to beat you in PvP, they're paying so the game doesn't stagnate and die from META paralysis. You don't have to pay, the strats and sets you're using now will still work, and we'll all be back next year to speculate on the shiny new feature that will definitely launch heedless to the protests of power gamers.

I have reservations on the impact it will have on PvP balance, but balance is already a joke. No sense cutting out content even more from PvP. And it makes ZOS more money if people feel compelled to buy this to stay competetive

With how the skills currently look I'd have to agree. Having easy access to Oblivion damage and Defile on spammables is absurd. Which is a shame because I think trample and the Destro staff skills look like they could be a lot of fun.

Yea....I realize us ESO users are used to pay to win but...this just seems a little more blatant then usual. That said, I see not so much impact for pve...but for pvp....yea...I don't see this improving things at all sadly :(

My entire friend group has been waiting for Spellcrafting since 2014 because of its PvP implication.

As someone who has tested all of the craziest sounding Scribing skills on the PTS, none of them stand out as broken for PvP excluding the Templar Mastery because the biggest impact skills eat multiple seconds of cast time, meaning, no light attacks, no bash canceling, if you have to interrupt your ability you just threw away your global cooldowns.

There are countless new skills that add so much fun and different playstyles that have been absent from the game for a decade, and now PvP players can’t have them?

    Yeah, not happening.

So you want Perma Defile and 8% max HP Oblivion DMG on a spammable?

The only reason I wouldn't want it added into PvP is so it can actually be fun and powerful in PvE without getting nerf hammered as much

Yes. Perma defile. Horse spammers. Whatever brings some energy into the zone.

What are the two most irritating things to fight in PvP? Groups with healers, and perma-block, perma-shield players.

Both of those “problem scripts” are solutions.

No, but you can get on PTS and duel a bit with any of the skills and learn that they are actually all a bit balanced, even the scripts for defile and oblivion damage are to a degree.

On my live build, I dueled several people who were using those skills and didn’t notice any difference in my survivability whatsoever, meanwhile they were burning through a soul gem every time they used their spammable, still unable to kill me while I was in nothing but damage sets… and these were great players, mind you.

I agree. Keep the pay to win scribbing out of PvP. Cyrodiil is already unbalanced enough as it is.

idk about the pay-to-win argument, but I'll say this, Chapter DLCs are understandable to have as paid expansions but no gameplay features should be locked behind a paywall. Classes, skill lines, mythics, scribing. Maybe put it behind a paywall for the first year at most, but even that's kinda frustrating.

As for pay-to-win, since my main account is locked out, I'm on the alt they gave me. I have around 275 CP, and am running base game monster set, and two sets I bought from Guild Traders, one crafted, and one overland. I am obliterating skilled players in PvP pretty consistently, who have literally almost 10x my CP. Scribing is set to shake up the meta in a way that opens options for builds and classes that people have been screaming for for ages, and I for one am all about it. Learning the new tells for certain skills will definitely be a challenge, but knowing that even on my lowbie with no "pay-to-win" features I can kill people so frequently that notable players in the community will teabag me when they finally do get their revenge, I'm pretty open to seeing how it plays out, rather than just having ZOS ban it outright.

Scribing is just a continuation of the established business model. Looks like it will further imbalance pvp for awhile, but with an established legacy of poor pvp performance (perpetual lag issues, broken cc skills, skills not firing) it honestly doesn’t matter much. New sounds and graphics for clunky, mediocre pvp gameplay.

Scribing just introduces more imbalance and lag into PvP. Plus, if you don't buy the chapter, which is lackluster according to most posters, you don't have access to the new "skills".

The Chapter and environments are awesome, the Scribe skills need some minor buffs to be inline with other skills.
