Why aren't bash builds popular?

That's a very old post. Bash Arcs are comically easy to avoid. I've only seen bash Sorcs consistently land hits.

I’d just like to see some really good sword and shield builds that aren’t so bash heavy spam. The healing was always bad when I tried these builds so it was hard to recover, but the damage was good.

The biggest problem of bash build is enemy movement speed.
I find caltrops & frost barrage to be good synergies with bash, and I use them both to actually be able to land those hits.

Fun thing that you don't need sword & board as you can just lightning staff for the same damage bonus from passives. It will cost more stam but it doesn't matter if you spam soul with druids, making it demi-range option.

Since coming back again, I've been using shield throw as the primary damage skill on a bash build. However I haven't checked to see how high you can get the damage of the ability on a non-bash build, that is of course if you still wanted to use sword and shield for damage dealing.

I do miss the days of using puncture and heroic slash as a spammable though.

While I dearly miss my Puncture burst combos with Old Viper from 2015, it was pretty busted to have that much offensive and defensive power at the same time. Bash builds seem like a clever and fair way to design offensive SnB, since they have to sacrifice a lot of tankiness and sustain to be able to function.
