Unfair Advantages with patch changes

Since they have removed the repeatable 20 kill turn in quest in pvp. What is to be done now to catch people like in Aerwins Bow that have done the quest over and over 100+ times. It basically has given them a huge advantage over everyone else seeing as we cant do the same thing now. What will be done to even this out to make things fair?

There isnt anything that CAN be done. They are certainly not going to remove the xp/ap that those people gained during a legitate quest offering. They are not going to give everyone a xp/ap bonus to compensate. there is no good solution. Gonna have to jsut deal with it, it will even out over time.

It was the most easily farmable PvP quest available. 1000 AP per turn in, and (until now) could be gotten again as soon as you turned it in, which took very little time since all you had to do was die then rez at the base camp.

There are many solutions to make it fair, and to say there isnt proves you have no creative mind what so ever. While I personally could give two *** about it all because I know getting emperor is all about time sink and people who share account will always be able to stay at the top. I just know a lot of people who had a chance to catch up with the way it was and now that idea is gone because they cant do the turn ins like these people did. I personally think a complete reset of everyone's AP is in order and that is the only true way to make it fair. The game hasnt been out long enough to make that much a of a impact.

its no longer infiniately repeatable and is a daily now. So people that have tbeen using it so far, he want all thier xp/ap stripped from them or added to everyone else. Neither is viable so I say just deal with it

Perhaps they will force they rest of us to sit in front of the screen for 24 hours and grind mediocre xp in some other fashion in an effort to balance out our unfair advantage of 'having an extra 24 hours of a life' .

It's unfair that people used to be able to buy beer in my country at 18 but I had to wait until I turned 21 because the law changed. I think the federal government should buy me 2 beers for every day I spent during those 3 years not being able to drink.

Why rush to reach max lvl? Who cares if there are people ahead of you?

You play the game how you enjoy it, there will always be people your level willing to play. QQ, they are doing the best they can right now.

Gives you some experience and level-appropriate gear (most of which you end up deconstructing for materials). You can finish the quest fairly quickly if you're part of a group. It's nice, but I wouldn't consider it a big enough deal to spend my life in Cyrodill. Doing PvE questing is just as viable, unless you like your inbox spammed with useless green items.

With the nerf to this quest, I expect an exodus from PvP, however, since I think a lot of people were there just for this quest.

You're doing it wrong if you have to wait

But on a different note, since everyone is saying these 5 days are just "extra" and we should be happy even when the server is down; resetting everyone to 0 for the "official" launch on 4 April would be fine. Since, you should not expect to actually accomplish anything during these days according to some people.

To be fair, anyone out there PvPing cares. While the buff on entry does help some, the difference between a level 20 and a level 10 in sheer damage output is enormous. And I am positive folks are already level 30 or higher, saw a 28 at the bank in Davon's Watch yesterday evening.

I've got to disagree, no matter what action they take some people will cry foul. Is it fair to those that did the quests legitamately that they get all the time they put into it stipped away? You might think so but I can totally imagine those people that benefitted from thinking its massively unfair.

Well, what's their choice? Maybe they should reset everyone's AP to 0 before bringing the servers back, that will make it fair, or wouldn't?

Edit: Post should be taken as sarcasm, as i could care less either way about this.

How often do you 1 v 1 in PvP? I played a good 8 hours of it and have only gotten into a few. Your usually in a group so you will kill them incredibly fast no matter what level your at.

    Actually I hear there's a 50 out there.

You can "care" about this if you want to, but I plan to be around here for the long haul and I could care less if someone has leveled ahead of me. Lucky them, I'll catch up eventually ... besides, in the story it's the tortoise that wins the race, not the rabbit.

I will admit I am not fully awake, but... what? Soul gems don't work for self-rez in Cyrodiil. And thanks to how the buff applies, players can only be raised with Grand Gems, which aren't exactly affordable to anyone entering at lower levels (let alone, are they even usable with the level 50 req on them?)

While I agree with you to a point, this really has nothing to do with character levels, but more to do with skill point advantages. AP (believe this stands for Alliance Points) equal skill points, this allows those players to have a broad skill range, mostly passive skills, which gives them a very real advantage in PVP.

Do I personally care, no not really. This advantage, while it might last for awhile, will not be something permanent, since every player can earn those points as well, but depending on how hard it was abused in the past 3 days, could be something that takes most of the player base a much longer time to nullify.

Will it ruin the game? Very unlikely, these types of issues always come up in MMO's. One need look no further then afk farming in WoW back when Alterac Valley and the other battlegrounds were released. Those people were able to make High Warlord/Grand Marshall? (sorry played horde and that was 8 years ago) without ever doing a thing. Eventually Blizzard patched in some new game mechanics designed to try and stop or reduce this issue but the "damage" was already done.

So, inclosing I will say I understand the concern voiced by members of the community, I personally am ambivalent about it.

At this point, I guess being able to ACTUALLY play the game is better then having to worried about lacking behind those players who took advantage of the quest being repeatable & farmed the hell out of it.

This happens with every MMO out there. It's why some people flock to early release, etc, because things like this always exist and they use them to get ahead before the loophole gets closed.

    GOOD Points being made here:

    1) RESET all the campaigns please. It's not fair that someone that used the trick to be at the top of the leaderboard in campaigns while john doe user had no idea it existed.

    2) Leave existing folks alone (Ripping XP/AP from them just doesn't work). FYI - I've only done one quest so far in PVP so I'm not one of them.

Unrelated: Yes needing a GRAND SOUL GEM (Level 50) to rez your level 10 in Cryodiil is just silly. Caught me off guard last BETA and apparently is the way forward? I hope it's a bug they have slated to fix cause it's annoying.

It was a legitimate quest method that existed -- they did nothing wrong. Cleary it went outside of the devs expectations and has since been changed, but this wasn't an actual code exploit that they took advantage of.

With that written, I think the City of Heroes devs deserve some major props for the implementation of MARTy (Metric Activated Reward Throttle [plus a 'y']). It was basically a monitoring mechanism that identified "overly-exploitive gains" and adjusted rewards accordingly. Seems like something every game should incorporate.

Think about people who didn't preorder the imperial edition. They will start playing when people already have tens of thousands of AP.

The first campaign is already soiled because of that, the patch changes little about it.

Things will only be "fair" on the next campaigns.

While I have done a few group assaults/defenses, I spend more time solo stalking, because ZOS fails at AMD dual cores, so half the time if I am running to keep up with folks I have to wait *minutes* for players/NPCs and terrain obstacles to load into the world. Rolling around solo stealth gives it plenty of time to load everything and everyone around me (usually). Besides, my dotblade build is well suited for 1v1, not so much for groups unless my ultimate is up.

It would seem ludicrous to me to punish people for turning in the PVP quest all day.

Sounds boring, but it was not an exploit.

Meanwhile I will continue to take my time, explore, level some crafting. Already at 21, the levels go by quick. It will not take long to 50.

I like to PVP but do not see what all the hurry is.

Not an exploit, I'd say more of balancing. EVERYONE HAS THE SAME CHANCE TO EARN XP IN PVP. Just complaining because they were raking it in very quickly in terms of real world time.
