Just like in this previous thread: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/366533/why-are-npcs-around-me-yawning-all-the-time

Does anyone know the cause? I only hear it in Daggerfall, nowhere else, and I can't determine the cause.

I hear it in various places, but not all the time. Certain NPCs, or types of NPCs-- such as crafting merchants or bank guards-- can do this every so often. They'll yawn, stretch their arms, and roll their heads on their necks, just like a real person who has been more or less stationary for too long and who is trying to stay awake. In addition to Daggerfall, I hear it from time to time in the crafting region of Vivec City. If you spend a lot of your playtime in the crafting and merchant areas of hub cities, sooner or later you're bound to hear some yawning.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

it's the dog trying to get your attention to start the main qiuestline in that zone.

Once you finish that quest, the dog stops trying to get your attention with the yawning sound.

My apologies, but sometime's it's hard to tell if posts are joking or serious. So do I actually have to do the quest with the dog to get rid of that annoying sound?

The dog will stop following you and trying to get your attention after you do that quest. However, his sound is a whine, not a yawn, so it may not be the sound you are referring to.

Yes. Otherwise, the dog will walk towards you while making the noise every time you get close to it in Daggerfall. You might get lucky and find that just accepting the quest stops the noise. The quest didn't take long for me.

Interesting, it could be the dog, especially if you are over near the tents where some npc vendors are, in front of the castle.

I don’t remember hearing anything recently but all my toons have done that quest. The dog does make a whining noise but only every so often if I remember correctly, so it could sound like a single yawn.

It's Giblets the dog. I went through the area more slowly on one of my alts that hadn't done that quest, and I found that whenever Giblets stopped following me, and turned around and ran off (vanishing shortly after), that's when I heard the sound. It's supposed to be a whine because (s)he's feeling rejected, but (as mentioned in the linked earlier thread) it sounds a lot like a yawn.

So mystery solved: it's just another in the long list of quests that harass you until you start them, i.e. standard ESO practice.

I was in Daggerfall today and I found Giblets the dog. He was making sounds but it's not yawning sounds, it's whimpering. He is obviously sad and seeking our help.
