Asking for Help as a new Wolf!

Hello all

Just started a few month ago and when i reached lvl50 i had somehow lost my motivation, i was missing fun. Then i read about the Vampire / Werewolf in the Inet and just tried the Wolf. To make it short, i had a blast. So much fun playing as a Wolf, it was clear to me that i would continue as a Wolf and see how far i can get. Obviously the Wolf is much weaker than strong 2-bar builds, being limited to 1 bar and only close combat.

Now i have to admit that i am a horrible player. Being a bit older than probably most of you, with thick fingers and slow reflexes, my reaction time is horrible. But then, as long as i have fun, i just make the best of it.

So i enter the ENDLESS ARCHIVE. My first tries ending with 14k Pts at boss Nr. 3, what a shame. Then i got an idea - i was really missing a dmg shield, so i found the PARABELLUM ARMOR. Luckily it was easy and fun to farm the Maelstrom Arena as a Wolf so i easily got me the set. Now i perform much better, reaching the Crystal Boss and ending with 26k Pts. Still i did not manage to kill that damn boss. I continued to look for interesting armor and found the VAMPIRE KISS ARMOR. As a Wolf i have 45k St amina, so the resulting HealOverTime which the armor provides numbers 26k over 10 seconds. Well, i have only 25k HP buffed with food, so a 26k HoT seems nice enough. Drawback is, it only works on bosses which have adds to kill. Luckily the crystal Boss spawns 2 adds every 30 seconds or so, superb. So i enter the ENDLESS ARCHIVE again, feel absolutely invincible at the random mobs, kill the crystal boss, finish this milestone ... and die a few seconds later in the 2nd Ark. Well, 36k Pts at last ...

Now i am asking for help. What can i do to increase my performance in the ENDLESS ARCHIVE?

Obviously there are three factors:
1) Skill / Experience / Training
Well, you guys cant help me there. I am a slow reaction player, so my skills will always have a limit.
2) Equipment
Here i am using that Antiquity Ring, which gives a 20% SelfHeal from dmg done. I also tried the other Ring which gives you ten tons of buffs, disabling the 2nd bar, but i found the SelfHeal-Ring better.
Parabellum Armor is great imo, the always-popping Dmg Shields are really saving my ass. The Vampire Armor is situational as it is no help at bosses without adds. For random mob groups it is just superb.
3) Champion Pts (500)
The most important Pts seem to be where you get extra Health Regen when you do not use your Ultimate. As a Wolf you never use your Ultimate so this seems the biggest buff as it gives 1k or so Health Regen. Would you spend your points for more Dmg or for more protection? With 500 Pts i can not have both.

Last to say, i have read some Werwolf guides including the AlcastHQ guide which is great but heavily outdated. So if there are some new cool armor combinations or Tips on CP and general combat rotations, i am glad to hear.

Many thx to all who have read this far.

When in Werewolf form, your Ultimate value is set to 0, and you cannot gain Ultimate. This means that you do not benefit from the extra Health Recovery of that CP slottable while in Werewolf form.

I've had some degree of success using Hexos' Ward and Pearlescent Ward on my Templar Werewolf in the Endless Archive. I use 1 piece of Slimecraw and the Pale Order ring.

Since you like using Werewolf, you might be interested in using the Werewolf Behemoth form in the Endless Archive. You'll need to collect all three Bestial Visions to unlock the Bestial Transformation Verse that will turn you into a Werewolf Behemoth.

In Werewolf Behemoth form, the build I used mostly still applies, but for some reason, the self healing from Pale Order and the CP slottable in the blue tree which restores health when dealing direct damage do not work. In this case, I swap out Pale Order for Oakensoul, to get many buffs which Werewolf Behemoth lacks.

Edit: It's also worth mentioning that you do not get weapon passives in either Werewolf or Werewolf Behemoth form, but you actually lose access to weapon enchantments in Werewolf Behemoth form when you can normally use them in Werewolf form.

So, if you build for Werewolf and Werewolf Behemoth, you should only accept the Werewolf Behemoth Verse on a bar with a weapon that is not Infused.

Its been a while, and I have not run a WW in EA yet. But Leeching Plate was always a good set for a WW for healing and health and put out damage. Alessian Order was good because it gave armor and health recovery based on resistances, and WW has high resistances that can get higher with Deafening Roar.

For damage sets, in my opinion, Ansuul's is overall the best trials set for DDs. Relequen is solid as you are constantly light or heavy attacking in WW form. Pillar of Nirn or Blooddrinker are strong because of the constant bleed damage WWs inflict. Even an older set like Berserking Warrior would work well, again, because of the constant LA/HA attacks, and its heavy armor so the passives give health recovery and sustain that work in WW form.

Oakensoul is probably a better call than Pale Order as you won't be bar swapping in WW form. I can't think of an arena weapon that you would want as you will be in WW form. If you don't want a mythic, you could run a full 2 piece monster set plus a Trainee armor piece. Engine Guardian or Roska are good monster sets for healing and sustain. Mighty Chudan for resistance and health, Slimecraw for damage, or even Zaan as you are putting out constant LA/HA damage.

Werewolf has no in-kit source of Minor Resolve, so they have lower resistances than any human build with access to skills like Resolving Vigor. Werewolf has long lost their unique armor — they get Major Resolve passively, so Mighty Chudan isn't a good fit for Werewolf, either.

Deafening Roar has never increased the resistances of Werewolf. The previous name for Deafening Roar, "Rousing Roar", used to grant Major Brutality. Deafening Roar currently reduces the resistances and damage done of enemies by afflicting them with Major Breach and Minor Maim.

Mighty chudan is useless on a werewolf, as they already get major resolve, and you must not have played werewolf or looked at their abilities/passives since 2020, because they don't have unique high resistances anymore, it got removed a while back because of pre nerfed versions of health recovery and alessian. Deafening roar does not, and never did give higher resistances either.

@IncultaWolf LOL, no I haven't. Wow. I was just going over my old build. I now remember why I stopped playing werewolf. Now I'm sad looking at what they did to what was once a fun niche class.

Yeah it's really sad. Very recently the snare from the packleader direwolves was just straight up removed without any explanation. I never saw or heard a single person complain about it. Most of the players who played werewolf have already given up and moved on to a real class, as it's been years since they've been competitive/viable. They weren't even overpowered back in greymoor, proc sets and health recovery were what enabled that. Now we have nothing.

Claws of life heal also nerfed from 100% down to like 66%. Minor courage can be gained from several sources now, like just having an arcanist in your group. Werewolf is just severely powercrept compared to everything else in the game. I could go on and on about how they've gutted the playstyle, and how to fix it, but there are already several forum threads about it.

    PC NA (Tank/DPS) - [PVE]
    Started ESO - Oct 2020

    Necro Main
Tank main from 300cp - 1200cp at which point I switched to DPS - I was 100k on every class except werewolf. I cleared 115k on necro, but I am completely done with parsing. My hands won't let me anymore. Lucky there is still heavy attack and arcanist options available. Otherwise I would possibly have to give up eso entirely.

Many Thx for that hint. I did not realize that. So i have some more CP Points to spend elsewhere ...

Sounds great. If i manage to get deeper into endless archive, i will surely test for the Behemoth!
