This won't be helpful for me because the Endless Archive seems like the worst type of torture. I do not even want to step foot in it.

It is sad because I was looking forward to an Endless Dungeon... not a more tedious than ever arena.

That sounds interesting! But if a lead costs 5000 currency and people report that they had 400 currency after hours... then that sounds like a terrible grind again.

I know there won't be any changes, so this is just venting. But I am SICK OF TALES OF TRIBUTE.

I got 9 of the 10 Necrom music box leads at least 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been doing the TOT PVE dailies every day on two characters. I've opened at least 120 reward coffers. Can I get the lead for the final music box lead? Hell no. I used to be able to enjoy TOT on occasion, but NOT ANYMORE. I want this game to DIE. ZOS, gating a collectible furnishing behind an RNG-determined daily reward is EVIL. Especially something that is, AFAICS from threads on this, a part of the game that is of mixed reception at best. This is just ridiculous.

    /rant

And now, back to your regularly scheduled gaming. :-)

    Make ToT enjoyable tutorial :
    - Surrend games involving Almalexia mentor (games takes too much time and are boring as possible...).
    - Surrend when opponent takes too much good card in the early rounds.
    - Launch a random game time to time but do something else, don't focus on this crap card game.
    - If you're lucky enough, RNG will be with you and you will win.

Overall, don't waste more time than needed for achievements with this absurd and pointless RNG based cardgame.

    Enjoy.

    That's RNG for ya.

Rookie mistake! NEVER share your bad luck with RNGesus unless you're asking for a kick to the face in addition to the gut punch you already received - 100 times out of 100 you'll be met with "wow, so crazy I got it my first try, sorry for your luck." or some other version that does absolutely nothing but deepen your pain :D

Edited to add quote for example.

The problem is not the card game, it's putting a drop behind layers of RNG, and also behind daily limits. One comment above was complaining about ToT being a solo activity in which you can't get help from others, but not long ago ZOS also put a lead behind Jewellery surveys, and that is also a solo activity, not to mention it has an extra layer of RNG (getting a survey in the first place, and then getting the lead from it), so it's silly complaining about one and not the other only because you personally don't enjoy it. The problem is not the activities themselves, if they can be solo'ed or not, if they are combat-related or not--in a massive game like ESO where there's myriads of playstyles, all kinds of activities should include some sort of reward so that there's something for everyone. It's that when there's multiple layers of RNG involved and when there are daily limits (for eg., the ToT daily can be completed once per day per character), the grind can take exponentially longer. The sticker book has made a huge difference in regards to gear drops, but other drops that are behind treasure maps and other multiple RNG steps are still super frustrating to get. A way to go around this wouldn't be to simply remove the drop from the activity (because like I said, I think all activities should have rewards), but to revise the RNG system, either by making it weighted after a certain point, or by offering a token solution, whereby after an X number of attempts you can trade a token for the drop. ToT is not one of my favourite activities by a long shot, and when I occasionally play it it's only against the NPCs, but I appreciate that it's an intricate mini game that has had effort put into its design, and that there are players out there who enjoy it, and can get something out their playing, like in all other areas of the game.

ToT IS NOT PvP. It's a mini game. You have to be using your skill bars and skills for it to be PvP.

ToT has both a PvE mode and a PvP mode. PvP stands for Player vs Player. The version in taverns and inns is PvE, as the opponent is an NPC. The version in the activity finder is PvP, as the opponent is another player. You can also initiate PvP ToT against an opponent by challenging them directly, similar to how you initiate a duel.

You can engage in PvP doing nothing but pressing your mouse button to light attack, no slotted skills required. Mind you, I'm nit saying you could win PvP that way, but you can certainly do PvP that way. Insisting that something doesn't qualify as PvP on the grounds that you don't need to use any of the skills slotted on your skill bars is not a convincing argument in my view.

ToT matches against other players certainly qualify as PvP, by the literal definition of "PvP."

And going by your criteria of what makes PvP, whenever I've been killed by gankers or bombers and didn't have time to react, and couldn't fire off any of my skills in retaliation, or whenever I sheathed my weapon to let the other player hurry up and kill me so I could rez and get back to completing a PvE quest in Cyrodiil or IC, those weren't PvP deaths, since I wasn't actually meeting your requirement for what makes PvP PvP. Instead, I must have been killed by "environmental damage," since those other players who killed me were part of the environment I was questing in, and I never did anything that qualified as PvP.

Yeah, I know a lot of PvP players who would love to disagree with that logic.

I bought ESO because i wanted to play big PvP battles in Cyrodiil with some of my childhood friends. After countless hours of leveling characters, farming sets, earning gold and getting ready, we started to realise that Cyrodiil was plagued with way too many bugs and performance issues. And it only got worse with every update. Nothing got fixed, everything got downsized, there was no new content and we had to deal with a lot of confusing and useless "tests" and changes. My friends ragequit one by one and the whole PvP community got smaller and smaller. Even the deer ran away.

Then this cardgame came out. It didn't bother me at all. Just like all the dungeons and trials. And the quests. It's a big game with a lot of different teams, and they all have their own resources, because the company is big and makes a lot of money, right?

But after a while it started to feel like people are mocking me every time they call this mini game "PvP". Like "haha, forget your stupid alliance war, nobody cares about that anymore, it's never getting fixed, it's over, playing cards is the new PvP in this game, deal with it, haha, loser!".

Now i hate this little card game. Not because i don't like it. I never played it. But calling a card game PvP, while the unique and potentially awesome gamemode (and reason why i started playing this game) gets neglected and killed off triggers me somehow. It feels like Cyrodiil had to die so we can get this card game.

Tldr i don't like people calling the card game "PvP" either...

PK is player killing. PvP is any player vs player content. Hearthstone and Gwent are also considered pvp games. ToT is not the only pvp card game.

Edit: Also this card game came about because at the time they were putting resources into replacing the servers and rewriting the code, which was supposed to be a huge performance fix for Cyrodiil so that they could finally add new PK without breaking it. So, rather than seeing ToT correctly called PvP as an insult, it should be seen as a sign that they want to help PvP. Regardless, PvP ToT being called PvP is because that's what it literally is. And most online card games on the market call the player vs player matches that.

    Here's an example
