Doshia's Lair

Dosha really is a boss where you have to use the tricks of your trade. My NB is total bow with a little bit of siphon and assassination to help self heal. She doesn't have much in the way of AOE and as a bow spec she is ALL ranged DPS. Normally this isn't such a bad thing I can kite usually but her Lair is kind of limiting for kiting. Just makes it more of a challenge :)

I am completely unable to defeat her as a level 8 templar. Orbs spawn directly on her, and the few that start at a distance either are literally impossible to strike or don't heal me at all (but still manage to heal her when destroyed).

You need to kite her a bit. Get her off the platform. Hit the orbs from range, then go the the platform, rinse and repeat. Use Silver Bolts to take out the undead spawn quickly.

Silver Bolts is the first skill of the Fighters Guild skill-tree. It's your standard ROFLSTOMP-a-daedra skill (it's a variant of the popular WHACK-a-mole...)

I see many people in zone chat having issues with this quest.

First off, if I recall correctly, the quest is level 10. So, at 7 I would expect her to be more challenging.

    The quest is level 8.

Is there an indicator for the type of quest it is i.e. solo, group, etc.?

pretty much all quests are group-able except for certain important steps of the guild questlines and all of the main questline. There isn't an indicator per se, but if the quest you are on for one of the guilds makes you go through a portal or into a dungeon, it's a solo quest.

For me as a level 9 sorcerer, it helped a lot that I had my Clannfear to distract her while casting. My Overload ultimate also helped a ton to kill lots of the orbs. When I didn't have my ultimate up and I saw an orb getting close, I just shot it with my staff. I don't know what caused this, but after awhile it looked like she stopped summoning the orbs and I was able to finish her off. Maybe there is a limit to how many she calls for, I dunno. Like a few of the others above said, try to have some type of aoe available for the orbs and you should be fine.

Either way this isn't that bad once you know what to do.

I did this quest easily in beta for AD given that wide open space in the water, but Ebonheart (with how cramped the room is) is pretty nuts. It's just an endless circle of her constantly healing herself with how close the orbs are.

My issue is once you die fighting her once, she never un-transforms, so you lose that initial jump on her that you get first entering the cave. And so far I'm a pure melee NB spec'd mostly towards assassin. I just keep getting destroyed by the move where she levitates you and then throws you down.

Bubbles reach her before i can even stand up. This is just too hard. I had my troubles already in beta with her but there the environment was much better usable for fight.

Sertari, circle strafe and use your stuns etc. If you keep moving properly you will never be knocked down during the fight.

I must say, that's a highly frustrating unfun fight. Even if I can get her down to 50%, her grip gets me always, buys her enough time to fully regenerate. Take out the grip - and it's okay for me. So, it's just frustrating.

Wha'ever. Dude's to wait a few days more until I got more levels. 15 or so should be okay. :P

In Beta I was able to take her out as an Elf NB Archer at Lvl 8 but as mentioned for my prime character a RedGuard NB I cant kill her even at Lvl 12. I just cant get the orbs fast enough, she always manages to get one. I've tried it direct attack with Duel Wield and with distance with my bow. I tried drawing her out of the cave but she stops at the entrance and goes back in fully healed and then the dance starts all over again. I dodge her attacks get out of the way of her main one, hit her hard from behind with my teleport attack - Lotus Fan(stuns and does considerable damage ) but in those confines I cant get all the globes usually the dance starts again or I die :) So my point being the Doshia boss is not equal for each area, in one pack I can draw her out at kite her, not easy but real fun and a challenge in the other pack she is in that room and just cant take her out, all in all dont think its equal.
  • martinb16_ESO80
Yes, for some reason for Pact it is really difficult as when you kite her she resets. Also, there is a sound when the orbs pop? Having bad hearing is probably not good then,

I did eventually defeat Doshia with sheer dumb luck and persistence after returning with yet another couple levels. This quest is still very one-sided, and the silver bolts certainly did not seem to do anything useful.

My thoughts are, this is an MMO, not a single player game. While I think content should be doable on your own, to actively prevent content from being done with friends is not right. It is my biggest gripe in FF14, and apparently will be here in ESO as well. When I want to play solo I can go back to Skyrim, I shouldn't have to do things here alone.

Note: I have done this specific quest, both in Beta, and live.

Silver Bolts is what made the difference for me and I was able to finally defeat her after probably 15+ tries without that ability. This ability knocks her down for a few seconds while using stamina, so the strategy I’ve used is to : stun her, use magica based abilities + destruction staff for damage, letting stamina recover, then as soon as she got up, stun her again, etc. Not pretty, but it worked, and she managed to get quite a bit of damage in too before I had enough stamina to stun her again 3rd or 4th time.

The bonus of this encounter is that I realized that I can do much more DPS if I have one stamina based ability on the bar of my otherwise magica based character. Even if I never put any points into stamina, there is still a lot of power there that is mostly unused. And Silver Bolts fills that role nicely with its effect on Daedra and Undead.

I just couldn't kill her when I had a Bow equipped on my Templar, the attacks were too slow and by the time I got 2 orbs shot, the other two would have reached her. I switched to Dual Wield and had a wicked easy time taking the orbs down before they reached her and at that point she went down quick.

I had my a** handed to me half a dozen times by Doshia, but I got her eventually. I struggled with dual-wield for some reason (and I'm a dual-wield specialist - go figure). I eventually switched to 2-handed sword and was able to prevail with that.

You either need a ranged attack or an AOE to best manage her. Without that she is a bit brutal to fight.

    That is totally true.

No way to stun her? Bad luck.
No way to AOE her? Bad luck.

Now, I'm level 14 now - and still can't take her down, thanks to the lack of AOE attacks (seriously, in 99% of the encounters at early-game, you don't need AOE at all) and as a dual wielder, stunning her is quite hard and need to be timed carefully.

And yeah, it happens I'm on Pact side. She's definitely insanely hard here, to the point of being a straight unfair encounter. Her orbs always spawn at 10m distance or so, sometimes warp to her PLUS a hit isn't guaranted with a sword, resulting her to get her way.

Also, extremely annoying is her non-avoidable grip - which she casts just a second before her orbs appear. Entirely unfair and unfun encounter if you don't have AOE and stun attacks.

Worst part? It's just the combination of all those skills. Stun + Instant Health + Resistance to Fire? And if you're a DK or any class focused on fire damage - well, that's it. No cigar for you.

You can not do the Mage Guild and Fighters Guild quests in a group. They have nerfed the difficulty considerably though.

Not entirely true, the final mage guild quest is public.

And yea nothing wrong with solo content, however FORCING it upon players, for one of the most important and rewarding quest is a very lame thing to do in an mmo.

It should offer both solo and group options.

I did it with my sorcerer at lvl 10 at first attempt in Ebonheart Pact. I had to kite her at mele distance in the plattform running in little circles around her and used double tapping to avoid attacks. It was not fast, it was not easy, I consumed health and mana potions but I did it. I use a fire staff and I combined the single target damage with the lightning shield. I had my clannfear casted as well but didn't had the ultimate skill (still not invested points in there).

I destroyed two orbs when she casted them inmediatly with single target and let the third hit her. Then double tapping to avoid that big attack of hers (I couldn't avoid all of them <.<) and attack her with everything you have. That did the trick for me.

Silver Bolts are relatively high damage and if the 5% chance procs, you can actually kill her before she ever transforms. Granted in her Harvester form she doesn't get knocked down (or at least didn't for me), but the damage from the bolt is still nice and helpful.

I think it's insanely stupid to have solo-only quests, ESPECIALLY a "guild" quest where the whole point of being in a guild is to be part of a group. True, it's an NPC group, but it still sticks in the craw, especially since I play with someone whose FPS control abilities are weak, and therefore cannot survive outside of a group.
