I gave it a try at launch, going into it I was hoping for something similar or even a straight up clone of Gwent from the Witcher 3, about the only card game in a video game that I have enjoyed.

My experience with TOT, was about the same as OP just didn't find it fun.

One of the guilds I am in tried organizing a weekly event around it but ended up throwing in the towel due to very few members showing interest, there weekly fishing events are still going strong though.

Found it annoying when it showed up in a side quest in the Firesong DLC, thankfully you could concede the match and progress the quest another way.

I know people love there mini games but for me personally its not why I play video games like ESO, I mean we make and level a character, I want to make use of that character and the skill lines I unlocked and levelled, I don't want to be pulled out of the game world to do a mini game or play a card game etc...

I tried it, I do not like it. The card game adds nothing to the game for me. For me, ESO is all about moving around, exploring, fighting, and absolutely not sitting at a card table.
Fan of playing magblade since 2015. (PC NA)
    Might be joking in comments.

I was very apprehensive when they announced it but I kindda like it. I only play against NPC's for the daily though, I got the feeling that the way it's setup leads to too many annoying tactics, and balance is off. RNG is too decisive. Dailies are a nice source of transmute crystals for me.

My only interaction with Tales of Tribute was watching the stream when they revealed it, took all of 2 minutes for me to realize this was not something I was going to bother with. If I want to play a card game I much prefer Poker or Blackjack!

I enjoy it. My wife loves it. I might actually be able to get her to start playing ESO thanks to ToT. I disagree.

As several other players have mentioned, incorporating Legends into ESO would be a better solution.

Then, those who are aggrieved with the updates and other historical issues with gameplay don’t feel acknowledged. And those who do enjoy ToT for what it is, must tread carefully around discussion.

It isn’t a great management and leadership on ZOS’ part to let this happen.

Once I got the last achievement, I'll drop it. I only play it for this very purpose. The matches take way too long, especially vs other players, eating too much of my precious play time.

Didn't work for me. Only reason for me to play is collecting achievements, decks etc. Not for the joy of playing the game, there isn't any.

Tales of Tribute is one of my most played modes outside of dungeons and a good way to relax/unwind and get amazing rewards while playing a strategically in-depth card game that I love. Safe to say it was a massive success!

This style of game is not my cup of tea, so I have not played it. However, it seems that many people are into the game. We have had various threads on different aspects of the ToT about the actual gameplay. That indicates it is a success, as best as we can judge.

Just because I am not into the game does not define the game as a failure. If we defined each aspect of the game, or any theme park MMORPG, as a failure because people are not into that activity, then the entire game is a failure. Even every aspect of WoW is a failure by that measurement.

I can not say anything about it. I have chapter, but not even play it.

I have MTG legacy Reanimator combined with doomsday paper deck.

What is a reason for me in MMO have more simple version of card game ?

People do good card games for years, to make such game for 1 chapter ... idea may be eas not to bad, but you can just make some simple card game for that. Just think about it - how in world of teso such game can exist ? Do they have printors and centralized game manufactory for that ? )

Have played it to rank 4, it is fun and I am going to play it to max rank. But I do not like that it takes me out of the 'real' game for so long. When I play ESO, I want to be in the elder scrolls world, not in a cardgame interface. Make this an app so we can play it when we are not logged in into the game, and it's fine. Having an expensive PC run this much power for just a cardgame, is insane.

Games take too long, even fast matches. Too long of a time to not be in the gameworld itself. So when I eventually hit max rank, I'm done with it(unless it becomes a separate phone/tablet app). Haven't played against other players at all, as PvP is not my cup of tea.

But ToT is not a failure in my book, it is a really fun sidegame. It is just not for me, but I knew this already.

The game could easily exist in the TESO world. Carved wood stamps could be use to "print" the black outline and then the color would be hand painted. Actual craftsmanship, instead of mass produced. These techniques have existed for centuries here in the real world, so it's not unrealistic to imagine them in ESO.

I enjoy it quite a bit vs. NPCs.

I haven't tried it vs. players yet. It seems to me that the essence of the game at that point would be trying to figure out what ZoS' worst balace errors were and then hoping for RNG that permits exploiting them. Sounds like it could get frustrating fast.

Even if they do it on Android/and etc smartphones and you can farm some thing for your main account in it it would be much better idea, than making such thing in game.

You do not play MMO, you play card game in it ? Thats why you need 100GB MMO game client for it ? )

No logick. And people who like card game in TESO, if it is more interesting for you than TESO MMO itself is a bad call. It shows that even card game is more interesting than games current state.

And you can play even better card games outside TESO - it only shows you wrong card game choise ;)

If in MMO is more interesting card game, than MMO - it shows how bad this MMO become.

I want to like it, but it takes away too much valuable play time where you can quest, do dungeons, ...
Maybe one time when I've done all the rest that I want to do right now.

Also I've played Magic The Gathering + MTG Arena, that is on a different level then ToT.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

      I gave a it a quick go and I wasn't impressed.

TBH I don't understand the logic. Antiquities is additive to the game, but playing pretend cards really adds nothing. It's also way too complex and my god it's boring!

I won't be playing it again. I'll stick to adventuring and saving Tamriel.

Too much RNG, and too easy to "run the board" and get 30 prestige in a single turn just through luck. The best card games, the ones whose popularity has lasted centuries, rely on simple mechanics of limited scope that open the way for -real- strategy, and not super-tricks.

Khajiit plays once in a while, but not really that often, and there's little chance of that changing, really.

I agree with what some others have said. You can’t deem it a failure based on your own likes/dislikes. The only evidence given of its failure is that you found it confusing and didn’t find it fun.

I actually really enjoy it. It frustrates the crap out of me at times but I do both PVE and PVP dailies as well as extra games against NPCs. I have a bit of extra time on my hands at the moment in order to do this.

I hope this didn’t come across as narky. It very may well be a failure but at the end of the day we can’t make a sweeping judgement based on our own opinions.
