Achievement rolled back during server issues. Support told me "just do it again"

I did the Yaghra Blockade achievement in Cloudrest last night when the server issues were happening.
My achievement progress was rolled back afterwards, This also happened to others in my raid team.
This achievement takes quite a long time to do and to be honest is very tedious and boring.

I made a ticket explaining what happened, and recieved the following reply:

"Sadly, The Elder Scrolls Online's Customer Support is not able to give or restore in-game Achievements.

However, if you are experiencing an Achievement related issue or are missing an Achievement, try the steps below:
Redo the task that would unlock the achievement, many achievements have requirements that can be unlocked simply by repeating the task.
Preventing any adds from passing over from the shadow realm awards the achievement Yaghra Blockade."

This is very disappointing... We lose progress and waste our time because of a ZOS problem, and ZOS tells us "just do it again".

I case you hadn't followed the drama surrounding other achievement bugs (notably, the Planesbreaker bug)... Support has never had the ability to grant achievements. It's not a lack of willingness, but rather the lack of ability. (It's never a good idea for anyone to manually muck around in the database, so they need to tool for such a thing. And such a tool simply doesn't exist. They can't even if they want to.)

Yup I figured that out for myself, and that's why I posted here instead of simply replying to the support email.

Normally in support services, there is a process in place to escalate tickets that can't be solved by the support staff to someone who has the tools to make such adjustments.

They must know that its happened to some people, as it has in the past with other rollbacks that have happened, and instances like what you pointed out where achievements were just straight up broken.

But we don't get a "we'll look into it, give us a few days" or something, we just get "lol, do it again". It's silly.

Considering the "rollback" was due to an anomaly surrounding the server issues and they cannot change the achievement for you even if they wanted there is nothing for them to really look into. As frustrating as it is to lose the achievement after so much hard work it is probably better for CS to be straightforward rather than do some pointless pandering.

    Sorry about your experience.

Or they do but have been telling everyone they don’t because it would require doing work. Sorry, I don’t buy the “we can’t” reply they give. Although, I do agree with not wanting just anyone mucking around in the database. There are enough issues as is.

It really sucks, but if they didn't reimburse trifecta achievements, with the whole Planesbroken drama, I don't think they would budge on this either, OP.

Unfortunately when a database is rolled back everything done after the point they return to is lost. And by lost I mean totally and utterly unrecoverable.

They won't have a record of what you achieved during the period thats been lost so have no way of validating whether or not you did in fact do it. They won't have a snapshot of the database they can load to see, the information is gone forever so they are not going to grant achievements because people say they earned them.

And they are not going to want to go into the database tables to set the flags for the achievements in case they mess something else up.
