Can confirm that I was getting this even after doing a clean reinstall of the game. New problem. I really don't think it's a user end issue.

    Isn't this fun?

    https://youtu.be/7uqOerKUmcU

Captured the video, uploaded it (took about 10 min), fumbled with settings, chapters, etc, made some coffee, went outside for a smoke, came back, and the login queue is still going:

I am laughing now, cause this has GOT to be a joke.

I am getting this error almost every day... but running the game as Admin one time makes it go away (so far, at least.)

But my REAL issue is I have been trying to login for over an hour now. I finally got a char signed in, went for a super fast bathroom break and came back to the "disconnected due to inactivity" message. Ugh.

FYI: I do not think the VersionFail? error is Steam related. I do not use Steam at all, and I've been getting this error since U33 patch day. (Again, my fix is to run launcher as Admin one time each day.)

@ZOS_Bill @ZOS_GregoryV this is a totally separate issue from the login que thread you just closed. The Patch Error has been going on since Tuesday, I get it every time I open the game and despite having done all the trouble shooting steps at your link I still get it. I have however been able to simply ignore it and log into the game without issue.

Today as of 4 or so hours ago the majority of us are getting a Que followed be a disconnect. Sure doesn't seem to be related to me and if it is, why the heck has it taken you 4 days to respond...

PS Yes, I and other are beyond a little frustrated so my apologies for my tone.

100% agree. I sent him a DM about it. One is a launcher issue while the other is game login queue. Different issues, with different things needed to resolve.

Since the other threads got closed despite them covering many different log in issues, not just the patch_manifest error shown here I have updated the current errors I have experienced so far today, in this thread.

1 Queue screen 12 mins. Closing client did not fix unlike the 1 sec screen from last week.
2 Got to character load screen where it hung for 5 mins. Had to close through task manager
3 Error 209: does not recognise version. BUT I could still could hit play (it had no repair option) got to Bethesda load screen fine, got to character load screen. Hung on loading charatcer and then booted back to log in with error 'connection timed out'.
4 Log in screen then says 'check internet connection' several times.
5 Patch manifest error as above with repair option.
6 Repaired and still getting 'valid internet connection' error.

I am NOT using steam. I do NOT need to repair as the game was working fine 12 hours ago, I did it anyway after last error and it made no difference. The range of errors indicates it is definitely a problem with your log in protocols. ie it is NOT client side so expect serious blow back if your support team just copy pastes the usual link as @ZOS_Bill has done above.
THIS 'TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE DOES NOT WORK .

For those still getting this error after the recent maintenance, please make sure you've went through the troubleshooting below.

What do I do if I get Error 209 "PatchManifestError_VersionFail?"

If these steps do not help, please go ahead and start a ticket with customer support.

Already completed the 4th stage of steps with Customer Support and got the error while in selective startup.

Well now that we have cleared up the honest mistake of the URL do you happen to have any insight on this thread @ZOS_GregoryV? We haven't seen a ZOS response other than to tell us to do the trouble shooting steps that are not resolving the issue for a lot of us (myself included). Would be nice to know it's at least on the radar of ZOS as an issue and is being addressed beyond the trouble shooting steps.

Thank for any information you might provide,

I have experienced the Error 209 several times in last two days.
    NA/PC ~ Not on Steam
I would just close launcher, play something else, and come back later and it was fine.
But, in a hour of play tonight resulted in 8 load screens and 3 crash to launcher.
Is this the performance improvement that my alts were sacrificed for?

My ticket has been escalated to a specialized team. So that means that either I have helped them gather enough evidence to prove it is something different than what they have experienced in the past, or my computer has a major problem with it that I can't see.

@ZOS_GregoryV @ZOS_GinaBruno I'm a little curious why it is yesterday there was no issue with getting a response from the ZOS team in regard to the login issue being worked on and yet in 5 days we have only had one response to this and that simply says to follow the trouble shooting guide.

This is clearly not an isolated issue and I for one have stated that I have followed the trouble shooting guide to the letter and still have not acquired a resolution. Can someone on the ZOS team at the very least give us the comfort of recognizing this as an issue and that it's at some level being address by your team?

As always, thank you for your time.

I have seen all the reported errors, despite attempting to troubleshoot things, errors are continuing, ZoS are pushing the onus of error onto the players, but this is obviously a game code or server issue, all I can ask is please, fix the game issues, 4 weeks of not being able to play my favourite game is intensely frustrating and from all the myriad of closed threads on the issue, I am not alone. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin

I understand your frustration. The only reason I am continuing the troubleshooting is because I literally work in Technical Support for a home security company and so I know why they are running through the different steps they are. It may seem scripted and that they are blowing you off, but what is likely happening behind the scenes is that they are taking all of the pieces they are getting and putting that together to try and find where the real problem is.
And as annoying as the troubleshooting may be, if we skip it, then they might not be able to find where the real problem is.

In one of several options ZOS give us to solve this bug, there one that says:

    "Delete Version Files & Repair

Locate the The Elder Scrolls Online install directory.
Default Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online
    Default Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\
Default Mac OSX: Applications -> ZeniMax Online -> The Elder Scrolls Online
Locate the Depot folder and delete the "depot.version" file."

Well, I simply can't find this "depot.version" in any folder!

I've tried all solutions and still have the Error 209... and I gave up my support ticket because it's a fool's errand.

I found the rock botton. Idk what else I can do.

I've had this error intermittently since the last patch. I'm pretty sure it's a network communication issue.

I've done all the things in the official ESO "What to do" thread. I've submitted a ticket, which so far has yielded requests for information and asked me to redo things I've already done. Hopefully they'll fix it soon. In the meantime, if you've gotten stuck in the infinite repair loop, as I did after following the "what to do" thread, a full reinstall of the game was the only thing that fixed that for me.

I think this is just going to be a "wait until they fix it" scenario.

I have also been having this. I followed the instructions and it worked to get me in once but reappeared as soon as I logged out. I have verified, restarted and still occurs when I log in and have to delete patcher data then rerun and it works but the error returns when I log out. This is getting really old.

    - Saturday - hit with this error 209 message BUT the game logged in after dismissing the box, no problems, played for several hours.

    - Sunday - no error message at all, played for several hours.

    - Monday (today) - suddenly the game supposedly doesn't exist on my computer and I *must* install fresh.

Haven't been able to put a trouble ticket in yet, either, due to the quirky nature of Support. And forget Steam Help - they point me to ZOS.

I should not have to do any workaround with a game which I have now played for multiple years on two ESO+ accounts. Especially since I played less than 12 hours ago.
