Is there reasoning behind housing teleport decision

Maybe someone else has the answer to this:

When leaving something like Cyrodil via the wayshrine, or leaving a dungeon/trial instance via "leave instance" option, why can we not go to our player homes? If I port into a trial from my home, "leave instance" should logically return me to my home, rather than some overland location. Also, traveling to your home should be an option when leaving Cyrodil, unless there's some weird issue with character instancing and the Cyrodil queue.

Because the coding for leaving Cyrodiil and trials was developed before player housing existed.

Yes the leave instance is newer than player housing but all it is doing is calling the leave trial when group disbands code, which is the code from before housing

If I were to guess, it has something to do with going to an instanced location, rather than to the overworld. There are other circumstances where you don't return to where you were after teleporting to another non-overworld location.

Here's another oddity: If you exit the game while in another player's home that you also own, you end up in your own home when you log back in. The game tracks your location, but not the name of the player whose home you were in.

See, if it can retain our home as a location when we log out, then it should be able to do the same when we leave an instance. It's just a remembered location. I'm only asking because when we're running trials, and we need to reset due to death (for a no-death achievement), we have to either port straight into our home (after waiting to fully resurrect again), which makes the leave instance function pointless, or we use the leave instance option and have to waste time completing that function and then port into our home so we can use our Aetherial Well before porting back into the instance. It's just a lot of redundant action that could be circumvented.

Sure would save a lot of hassle and load screens in any trifecta prog if you could PTE to your house. Sign me up.

There should be an Aetherial Well at start of each Trial, just like there are crafting stations and merchants. I doubt it would impact sales as you still need one in your house for dummy parsing. No one is going to travel solo to a Trial and use the free well, then travel back to house. The loading screens would be longer than just light attacking the Precursor until your ultimate is full. You would still want the Aetherial Well housing furniture even if there was a free one at start of Trials.

Or just make an Aetherial Well momento that anyone can interact with, like the birthday cake.

I think an assistant or memento makes it too easy to give entire group full ult for every pull. But if it were in a fixed spot at entrance, no one would travel back to it before every pull. Too much of a hassle and too much time lost towards speed run. But at the trial start seems reasonable. It doesn't really change how players go into a trial, just saves time and hassle between runs.

I cant imagine it would be difficult to add this to old trials, and 100% they should put one in the new trial. I also agree that it wouldn't impact sales. I have two in my house, one by the entrance and one by the trial dummy.

It would be nice (aetherial well at trial start) but they haven't even added jewelry stations to trials older than Cloudrest

And lets be honest, trial crafting stations other the Alchemy and Enchant are pretty useless in a trial waiting room. I have definitely made pots, and occasionally made an enchant (always seems to be for the tank), but I have never needed to use the others unless I am bored and just randomly deconning gear. Trials dont drop enough trash to where you really need to decon between runs.

Trial rooms need a merchant (repairs), Alchemy, and Aetherial Well (enchanting station optional). The rest I couldnt care less about.

You must not have been in vhof recently lol. It's easy to pick up 50 pieces of junk there. Vso is pretty bad for dropping a lot of rubbish also. If your group opens chests it also adds up.
The stations have also been useful when I've come straight out of pledges to a trial, although that doesn't happen very often for me anymore.
