is there a setting to turn off the forum post jumping?

I just wish threads I read would show up as read, but I have to reload the page to get them to.

For me, I starting having to reload to register threads as read about the same times as the other changes to thread scrolling and weird coding for line breaks.

    I agree, I wish I didn't have to reload.

Who thought this was a good idea?

It can be added to forum bugs that need to be fixed such as the inability to use the Report function if using on a phone (even if using the full website version).

    I've had a gutful of this auto-scroll.

I should also mention: I don't see this behaviour on any other forum site I use.

Somebody PLEASE fix it soon, it's very annoying and it doesn't help anybody.

@ZOS_Kevin : we'd all really appreciate it, it's reduced the forum's useability (well, in my opinion, anyway).

    Does quoting pings re-ping?

It has always happened to me, I figured it was because it loaded so slow it would jump after it finally did load. Super annoying.

I would like to recommend upgrading the forum software to something better as the present forum software is rather primitive.

It is a flaw in the design of the forums that the contractors introduced with a forum update recently. I am surprised it has not been acknowledged since it does not really reflect on Zenimax as much vs the third party that takes care of this site.

Hey all. We are looking into the issue with the page scrolling down, as that is not working as intended. It seems to be an odd Vanilla. But we will circle back with them to investigate why this is happening.

At first, I thought it was being done by the ZOS nav or shim scripts. I spent a half hour or so and walked through those scripts using local, edited, versions, but I didn't feel like chasing it when it appeared to dive back into Vanilla code. Not my job.

I haven't heard from anyone who claims to have done more detailed investigation into this.

In any case, I do think that this is a ZOS thing that will need to fix this. My gut instinct is that, while it might be Vanilla that is doing to scroll, it is ZOS that messed things up, probably when they introduced the nav changes earlier this year. (why I started looking at the nav javascript file in the first place)

For me it is actually the opposite. I will scroll down the page a ways and suddenly it will snap back up to the top. I thought it was my keyboard because when I am hitting page down one finger does rest lightly on the 7/home key (even though I have number lock on).

I think it's taking you to the first of the posts that (it thinks) you haven't seen since last you looked at the thread in question. But it's doing it so slowly that you've already scrolled to look at stuff before it kicks in (at least on mobile), or re-triggering for some reason after the page has been fully rendered.

As such, unfortunately, a good idea just doesn't work in practice.

This is exactly what happens to me. I land on a page, start reading, then 5 to 10 seconds later it jumps back to the post I first landed on. It is very annoying. It's been going on for a couple weeks for me. I'm now at the point where I just wait for the page to stop loading before I read anything, but that's a lot of waiting.

For me it snaps back to the "bookmarked" last post that the site remembers upon your next visit to the thread.

Another thing the forums do is if I go into a new thread I have never been in before, then back out and click on the same thread a second time it always starts me at the top of the second page of the thread. Then if I back out and click on the same thread a third time it advances me to the third page, etc....

I am on chrome mobile Android, I do not think I am on desktop enough to notice it. Probably an Android related issue, but I never see this on any other site.
