But I don't want to be disappointed. I maintain that 2022 will be the year of the redguards. Colovia may come in 2023.
Even though Blackwood is semi-imperial, I admit I fundamentally hated this region... and this despite Lovidicus.

Can't see it being that redguiard focused - if Redguard is the focus of the next solo game as believed then presumably they won't want to lock down any earlier lore/detail until they've actually got the next game ready, and then tie them together at release a bit.

If it's Akatosh related then the other line it can take (or perhaps relate to) is the Amulet of Kings saga, and the fact that is not completely resolved in the main storyline but included a hook for more story and we don't know how it gets from you know who (trying to avoid spoliers) to Remnan III's tomb in Sancre Tor before Oblivion.

We've still not been properly back to the Shivering Isles either which is sad nor the soul cairn, nor Umbriel. Lots of strange places left 8)

Perhaps they've finally admitted to themselves that the Alliance war is over (in terms of lore), as is the attack on the Imperial City.

Maybe the areas are going to be scrapped and reworked and PvPers moved to the outskirts of another map :3

The PTS has a new pet replacing the Unstable Morphilith which fit the Deadlands Daedric Theme, the new pet is a Golden version of those Dragon Imp pets and it seems to be based on Akatosh, the first morph of the new pet is an Akatosh themed skin, now if this pet is anything like our beloved floating pet rock then it would clearly be based on the new content.

It would be awkward to have an expansion in say Morrowind while we have this pet who is Akatosh themed so the expansion would need to be connected to Akatosh and the only way that will happen is if it either takes place in a land where Akatosh is worshipped so a Human-land or the expansion could instead have something to do with his sphere being time.

It is also possible the expansion could involve time travel or take place within whatever realm Akatosh himself resides.

Time travel to a different cyrodil where the 3 banners war isn't happening.

I've seen the key word "Illusion" pop up multiple times. Hopefully there will be a new skill line or class that deals with Illusion magic. That would be very cool if done right.

The place matter but the story too. If we got one more over the top ubber epic story about saving the whole world from a verry bad vilain, with a forgotten artifact and with everyone celebrating in a castle one more time, it'll ruin everything for me.

I still dream of an eastern morrowind year, implying Akaviri remnants ploting to destabilise the region in the shadows. With the Q4 zone being on one of the islands in the east sea to stop an incoming force. Something never seen for once.

I do bet at some point we will go to those islands, there is four in the lore atm. Zos could add more :) whole planet of Nirn to explore after all :)

As far as I am aware, Akatosh is a god of time... So um... time travel ?

PvE Cyro or IC (different zone) from different time line ?

I'm not totally against that kind of story ... if well done and if it's not too many time in a row. Skyrim year and Oblivion year just feel like Eslweyr duplicates.

Yes Morrowind and Summerset were about daedra wanting to destroy the world too but it was more subtle and with cool plot twist (like Nocturnal going solo in the end) so it was ok. And Orsinium, Murkmire and some of the base game zones prove that there's not only that kind of stories. Even if in the end we always save the day, there's many other way to tell the story and others scales to explore than always going straigh ultra epic with the same scheme like those 3 years.

I'm more against how they tell us the story than the story itself.

Well, many many people want a PVE Cyro, and nobody is expecting it. Wouldn't be bad either - as a different time zone, not the current one redone to PVE. We'll see I guess? Just think: they already did Vvardenfell for the Morrowind fans, Skyrim for the Skyrim fans, and all the non-PVP Oblivion fans got... well, I guess the Gold Coast and Blackwood. Let us do a Doctor Who crossover this time!

I seem to recall someone pointing out that the location of the next year’s location is mentioned in the first dungeon of the year. Maybe they were wrong or I misremember, but I seem to recall Eveli mentioning Argonian territory — Blackmarsh I think? I think that would be a direction few are expecting…

That was this year, Blackwood is on the border of Black Marsh. I suppose a true argonian year would be pretty unexpected since we had a half argonian year this year. Then again, it'd make as much sense as a full Imperial year which is being speculated more heavily.

Exactly! I don’t think anyone is expecting a year featuring Argonians, but in at least some respects, this year featured Oblivion and Imperials more than Argonians — no new Argonian houses or furnishings, for instance. I’ve only started playing through Blackwood so can’t comment regarding their story involvement.

For all that, I’m not expecting it unless and until further clues point in that direction.

Fair enough. I do appreciate that Clockwork City, for all that I never thought it would be my kind of thing, definitely feels very different from the rest of the game, and sometimes it's nice to have that change of pace.

I guess I'm just jaded. At this point, I know to expect that the majority of the time when someone complains about the last few chapters being too similar, in the end it often turns out that what they are actually saying is, "toooo many womens..." and I have no sympathy for that. If you think three women heroes in a row is too many, try being a woman and playing games for the last few decades, or reading all of world literature throughout history. A three year run of female protagonists is not going to ruin your life.

You made me dream there ... I was enormously disappointed with the absence of Colovia this year. I still blame Lyris so much for her lie.

Akatosh ... Clues oriented towards the Eight ... I automatically think of the Colovians.
The Colovian people are very different from the Nibenese people. Whether it is the culture, the environment...

But I don't want to be disappointed. I maintain that 2022 will be the year of the redguards. Colovia may come in 2023.

I do hope not so many human-centered years in a row! Although if it is the type of storytelling I prefer, with a focus on smaller character driven stories and even allowing the character to make some choices in how things turn out, that would be fantastic.

Of human cultures, I would prefer the Redguards as their culture, lands and architecture are different from the varieties of pseudo-European-medieval that the other human cultures are, not that that’s bad, but it’s what has been most common in fantasy and I enjoy seeing new things and what makes Tamriel unique — all among the reasons why Morrowind (both the original game and the region) will always be favorites of mine. Elsweyr too, although I feel like the main story was an avalanche of Imperials and Nevromancers and dragons — oh my!

Don't worry I have no sympathy for that too. I'm really focusing on the story itself as a whole and how they tell it. The characters are often well done even if the story is kinda meh.

Lyranth, Eveli, Keshu, Khamira, Lyris, Svana, etc I really liked every of them, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the stories they are featured in (and even If don't love Greymoor and Blackwood stories, I don't hate hate them either. I just want something a little bit different for next year.)

I don't care if we have "tooooooooo many womens/mens/transgenders" as long as they're well written and here for good reasons.

This one would like more female and diverse characters but as Zigo said, needs to be well written so that their appearance is not superficial. Eveli in Blackwood felt like a completely different wood elf from Orsinium, and it’s a bit disappointing not to see any character development considered by the writers. On the other paw, Kesha was a great character - strong leader, good tactician and diplomat. Hope she will appear in the next chapter instalment.

Colovia may offer a similar plot to Orsinium. Orsinium had a political intrigue involving religions... But it was still political and no Daedric intervention took place.
Instead of the Trinimac / Malacath conflict, we can have a Eight / Daedra conflict given Skingrad's political involvement in the Empire's military conflicts during Planemeld. An alliance open to Molag Bal while the Colovian people are the most devoted to the Eight.

Wow, that’s definitely not what I mean! But I’ve seen enough to know you’re certainly not wrong about there being people like that. :unamused: Actually, it felt even better than I would have expected to see three female leads in the year opening reveal! I know ESO has done a good job with that, but it was the first reveal trailer I’d seen. And in other games that I’ve also loved, it was still the case that, while you could choose male or female, the marketing was still male, so it was really cool to feel seen and represented! :)

I’ve enjoyed the characters although, as others have said, I feel the writers missed a bit why we enjoyed Eveli, her character arc, so maybe it really didn’t make sense to bring her back because they want the chapters to be any order, and Eveli could only be “green as a new blade of grass” in Wrothgar so Blackwood has to follow it, yet the character development doesn’t feel followed through on… And what about the choices you could make in Wrothgar? I don’t know if or how that is reflected in her dialogue or attitude to the PC…

Anyway, I would appreciate seeing some more varieties in the type of stories, not always a cataclysmic world-ending sort of threat, wouldn’t even have to be a villain at all, or at least not this is the villain so they will be evil in all respects. The characters can be any race and gender and I will be happy if they’re well written and if we can have meaningful interaction with them. Speaking of which, I was really hoping to see a lot more of this with companions, lots of interactive dialogue for those who want it, with more unlocked with rapport. I love Bethesda but Bioware has set the standard for companion characters with me and have broken my heart several times by now so there’s a lot to live up to!

Pretty sure it’s hinted at the end of the Deadlands DLC. Just like it has been the last four years.

Right, like how the end of Markarth heavily implied Skingrad, and so we went to, umm, Leyawiin. Maybe this time they'll lay the groundword for Whiterun and we'll end up on Solthsheim.

If they did do a cyrodil in another time, how easy do you think it would be for them to use the PvP cyrodil as a template then just fill in all the towns, NPC's ect? Or do you think the PvP cyrodil is just too damn big?
