Cool indeed, but it doesn't require skill and the benefits are too good for the small amount of effort.

It kinda does require skill. You need to build the character and actually find a group that's unsuspecting, close enough to each other to bomb. Then you need to prepare for the bomb by activating your related skills while remaining unseen and get in the middle of them with perfect timing. You also can't do anything else and your sustain is non-existent in case someone finds you and is hunting you.

i have 3 bombers and they are only used during MYM and the imperial city events, also it has to be one of the most satisfying things seeing 20+ people stacked together and then just watch them fall over

You guys know you can hear the bomber ticking close by; IF an add on was to send an alert to a sound prompt by the client than you may build an early warning add on.

No. It provides an effective counterplay against zergs, scroll groups and sometimes even ballgroups. It has its place within the game.

If you're getting bombed a lot, you will have to adjust your own behavior and anticipate better. The only time I get bombed is when I stop paying attention and get too comfortable in a large blob moving from one point to the next in the open field.

Not to mention there are also options for effective counterplay against bombers. If you have a detection potion or a skill such as Magelight, you can easily spot bombers by either checking out their usual spots or watching out for the AOE blob you'll see a few seconds before a bomber hits its target. I've killed many more bombers than they have killed me just by paying attention to my surroundings.

It’s literally only used by griefers because it serves no purpose except for griefing. Being able to POOF outta nowhere and insta kill a bunch of people long after a battle is over is not competitive, it does not promote competition or a healthy game environment and turns players away from Cyrodiil.

I hate to break it to you, but most of what you've written applies to Cyrodil full stop, which is why it is a miserable failure that barely anyone plays.

A game mode where you have:

    - Casual vs tryhard
    - Players with 100 hours experience vs players with 10k hours
    - 16 year olds vs 60 year olds
    - Where 20 guys can zerg down 2 without any meaningful trade off.
    - A 24/7 game mode with teams of different sizes and where at any given time one team can have more players "on the pitch" than the other two teams combined.
    - Where "winning" the game mode is about as meaningless as "winning" most fights, because it is determined by numbers, coverage, zombies that will PvDoor whilst team A has way more players at night / during the working day.
    - Where players can literally swap teams.

It's never going to be anything but a joke as competitive PvP, never going to have a healthy game environment and will always turn players away, not least those who want decent (or skilled) PvP.

It's basically "PvP" for roleplayers who don't care that most of the time the actual PvP is terrible and the game mode does not work on a fundamental level.

So bombers are not some exception, they are just absolutely typical of the game mode and fit right in.

I like bombing because it keeps me on my toes and is a counter to tight knit ball groups. I've tried to bomb myself but sadly magDKs don't have a good time of it and I've gotten 0 kills from all my attempts. There is some skill in lining everything up, cloaking at the right time, and counting the seconds before Proximity Detonation goes off.

I am guessing by your comment that you have never tried "bombing". It does take quite a bit of skill. Personally, I suck at it but I did try it for a while. There is definitely a thrill to stealthing into a crowd. I have respect for those that can successfully pull it off. It isn't easy.

ZOS really needs to stop giving players tools to be toxic with

This is just incredibly untrue. Bombers are one of the best counters to coordinated groups--and half of the playerbase complains about ballgroups farming them to no end and then you see complaints about bombers, arguably the biggest threat to those groups (apart from other ball groups, obviously).

Yeah, there are bombers who simply bomb flags and doors. Yeah, that's fairly useless. But why do you care? You'll have free rez's in both situations (and if you don't, it's not "useless").

This is a clear tell of someone who has not tried bombing beyond pugs afk on a flag. But let's try to remove the one the way one or two individuals can have a significant impact against large groups.

I feel like people who claim "bombing takes no skill" must never have tried it. I made one recently, spents tons of time mats and ap to get him geared up and ready to go, and failed horribly a lot. I think sp far ive pulled off 2 "successful" bombs(and still got killed right afterwards). Especially with this tanky meta right now its easily coubterable. Hell ive seen so many failed bombs during this event, and its hilarious when it happens, especially now that i tried it for myself and saw the many things that could go wrong with it

I've tried magblade bombing and I'm still practicing at it. It definitely takes skill to get it right. I've been bombed a lot. Good for them. I give credit to the people that successfully pull off a big bomb. There are also counters to bombing. In CP you see a lot more failed bombing attempts because of how tanky people can be with CP damage mitigation.

    1. Don't stack on a flag with 30 pugs
    2. keep your buffs up even if your just flipping a flag
    3. get some hp and resistances
bombing is a perfectly legitimate playstyle, and its not griefing killing players in a pvp zone.

Tbf the Op has some valid point in the sense ZOS is currently removing many sets which affect a ganking playstyle. Bombing is essentially a 'gank' so it could be considered that ZOS should nerf it. I don't really like the fact that the pre-buff sets are being removed or think that it should be removed but they should possibly be consistent with this.

during this mym i was leading a blue zerg for a bit and we kept getting bombed every time we were at a flag lol. i have a lot of health and heavy armor plus s&b so it doesn’t bother me, and i found it to be exciting that i saw someone say in zone chat “blue zerg you are being hunted”. you learn to anticipate it.

plus me and my buds have a good laugh everytime they try to bomb and end up dying! :D

If I get to decide, vicious death set should be disabled until ungrouped players can protect each others with barrier again and of course cross-heal. I`m fine with conscept of this "bombing" as long as all targets of such attacks can contribute to each others survivability with tools game provides us for that, but now that`s not the case..

    Double and triple amen.
So unfair we can't counter a bomb but still be killed by it!

bombs can be countered... first all anytime that you are in an obvious bomb opportunity put up all your defenses/ heals and block until the tick, then move on to next flag or whatev. do not stack on top of each other, if people have a lose stack then vicious death won’t hit nearly as hard. second, when you see the bomber appear in group immediately cast your cc on them and burn them down. i’ve survived plenty of bombs and seen the bomber die in seconds.

now a good bomber... shouldn’t they be using their shade teleport at the correct time after bombing? i never see people do this, and it just seems like such a cheap way to get away. if an experienced bomber gets you then yeah they will prob get away, but it’s so easy to avoid if you’re anticipating it at the right moment.

it makes sense why this play style gives people a bad taste, no one enjoys being bombed. it does take experience to play the build well, and that takes time and skill to do. how many pvpers only play bomber? it’s just like a different role in dungeons, some day you wana play a tanky high health proc build, other days you feel like playing your bomber.

I just don't know. I hate it and think it's cheap AF, but that doesn't mean it should be removed.

One thing I will say, though, is that bombers seem to always want to defend their existence by claiming that they're the "zerg killers." But the only places you ever, ever, ever see a bombers are on flags and on door repair (and very occasionally on a ram). I don't see how they even out the odds. I don't see how they counter overpowered playstyles. All I see is people farming cheap AP from large numbers of people who never get the chance to engage in any kind of reactive combat--particularly on doors, where you not only can't spread out but you also literally can't even interrupt your own animation to get out of there if you see the bomber coming once you've started the repair.

So I can see how it could be and is supposed to be a useful and important playstyle, but it doesn't seem to appeal to the type of person who plays that way and would use it that way. It appeals to the type of person who thinks it's fun to farm a bunch of people who can't fight back.

Reactive combat is a big part of what made PVP in ESO great in the first place. It's part of what made PVP initially more interesting than PVE (in that PVE is predictive combat, based on knowing and repeating patterns). Every move away from this and into "killing people who don't get a chance to fight back" territory makes the game a bit more dull and a lot less fun--unless you have a streak of the bully in you.

But again, I do see the purpose of the playstyle. I just don't see anyone playing it that way. So I just don't know.

People especially hate being killed from stealth because it feels like there's nothing you can do about it. The best counters to stealth kills, including bombs, happen 20 minutes earlier when you're at your gate camp, or earlier than that when you're making your build. If you can't be bothered, now and then you're going to die for it.

You’ve said several times that it takes no skill. Please provide screenshots of your most successful bombs.

This would be true if vicious death-set didn`t exist, but it does. I could have very survivable legit pvp-build more than capable of surviving all of bombers initial burst, but if players near me does not, vd procs gonna kill me regardless of my build.
There is ways to help allies stay alive, but it just so happens these days that of 100 allies I could only help max 11, meanwhile all the rest 89 allies could still kill me with their weak builds leading to vicious death explosions while I can`t help them survive. Fun isn`t it? Player next to me.. wearing same color.. fighting for same objective.. can damage me upon death, but I just can`t support that "ally" to prevent death that could also lead to my death...
