There is a very simple test to determine whether this event is fun and rewards are good or not. Just imagine that such a scheme is used to pay you as an employee.

You had me for almost two whole sentences. Work and fun so rarely go together.

And, yes, you will find people doing what this event does "for fun" and enjoying while they are doing it.

Where events becomes "unfun" is with the opportunity for things to go wrong. This event has lots of opportunity for things to go wrong, and ZOS could have certainly made things differently. The real treasure from this event should come from the daily quests and he double reward boxes you get, not from the event tickets and that one strongbox.

    1) Eliminate the whole thing about different drop rates for different tiers of monster. Just do 100% across the board. Whatever nightmares that ZOS designers have about 100% drop rates can be handled with tranquilizers until the event is over.
    2) Event tickets should not be loot. Kill something, get event tickets. Adding them as loot introduces a host of places things can go wrong, and they are.
    3) Special loot boxes pretty much have to be loot, and that is unfortunate. They should have a 100% drop rate for the first kill just so that it is very clear which mob encounter has them. Things will still go wrong, but the uncertainty goes away. Of course, it would also help to not have the second drop be a 0.00000001% chance, on Sundays, between 1:00am and 1:01am local time. For that last part, they could increase both the drop rate and the number of tranquilizers.

People will get frustrated for a number of reasons, just for being asked to play the game differently than they normally do. I don't see a reason to make things worse by introducing ways for the event to go wrong due to the design.

A job can be fun too. Usually you have either fun (interesting) job or fun (good) paycheck to compensate. Or both if you are lucky.
Since the purpose of the event is to bring into the zone those players who do not find zone fun by itself then the fun should be from the rewards.
The Three Storm Sharks, episode 8 released on january the 8th.
One mer to rule them all,
    one mer to find them,
One mer to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

Really enjoyed the event! Hope future events are held in out of the way areas most of us have forgotten about. Was nice to be in a well populated area.
