EU Server Down?

    Huzzah!

TBF though, it would be nice to raise a ticket to Steam and not be directed here for Support. The Issue to the consumer is essential in their court too, not just ZOS. They should have a support ticket function along with hourly updates.

And where, do you think, they would be getting their updates from? They didn't create the issue so they would also be dependent on ZOS for update details. We'd be as in the dark as we are here.
But what I have read online is that they will just do a server restart around midnight and it will be fine, with another maintenance tomorrow. It's just a shame as I have been looking forward to playing.

I'd at least dig some crown crates for this :pensive:

My wife loves ESO but yet another Steam login issue lasting pretty much the whole day has made her wary about putting all her gaming eggs in ZOS/ESO basket, so is trying a range of other games. Last time she did that, she switched games. As ye sow ZOS/ESO ....

Well, it started when I was at work, now I am leaving for bed and still could not log in :( ... but at least I did a lot of stuff around the house for once

Ohh me too! Did some washing up, a little hoovering, wiped down my bathroom, sorted my tea and did recycling. :triumph:

I mean I would rather sit in the dark and play ESO while eating enough chocolate covered pretzels to put me into an overweight diabetic oblivion.

But yeah ... chores are fine also.

Yeah I do not blame her, but she should hold out hope. I have only recently started playing much more seriously only recently, I only bought the game last year. I wasn't aware of the issues that Steam has with ESO, but the game itself is awesome. It is such a damn good game.

Looking into the extent of the issue I do feel giving us the option to migrate away from Steam while keeping our expansions/dlc and progress would be the decent option. But that might actually be alot more complicated that we imagine, there could be agreements in place. Also some people might prefer the Steam Client due to accessibility and having their games under one client, instead of multiple clients.

However, Steam is super good though, 215+ games on the service and very very rarely had issues. This though, this is an issue which concerns me.

This comes at an annoying time.

Fallout 76 Beta isn't available until tomorrow so i was planning on playing ESO for the rest of the evening, which is now impossible.

Eh, i guess it's Skyrim for me then.

It's sad that now when I can't log in and get my so familiar "timeout" message I just sigh internally when I realise it's Monday and give up for the day.

Oh I agree. I originally played the ESO beta but was too much of a WoW fan to move away at that time. I came back to it and have enjoyed the richness of the game world and expansive gameplay. The wife saw me play and decided to play as well and was hooked. We both dumped WoW about a year ago. She's currently back in Rift for this evening indulging in some nostalgia.

Personally I have over 240 games in Steam so I am never short of a game or two to occupy my leisure time. But seeing as I am supposed to be taking some certification exams, I will take this outage as education time ;)

However the issue with Steam looks to be around implementation of authentication. My guess (educated as I have been in IT for nearly 40 years) is that they don't use a standard API approach so any small changes can disrupt the way that the Steam client passes credentials to the ZOS servers. It's an educated guess only, I don't have much in the way of detailed knowledge. So the issue would be that the credentials (owned by Steam) are linked to the account (owned by ZOS) so you would need to migrate those credentials or disconnect them from Steam which is really not that easy or sensible. It's one of the reasons that buying a new copy direct from ZOS works because they are then supplying new credentials to link that account to

I can confirm I am able to log into ESO via Steam on EU.

Please check your clients and ability to log in and report back.

    Kind regards.

it reminds of of last winter when the guys that came to install a new furnace who sowed up with a bottle of liquor in tow. drunks did the job alright but then left and forgot to turn it on. Was below freezing outside. was the next afternoon before they sobered up enough to come in and actually turn the heat on.

now i'm not saying the guys who did the patch were drinking.

But they did forget to turn the logins back on.. ish...

ah well at least we werent freezing while we waited

As I suspected, she got back into Rift and isn't playing ESO now.
