Crown motif opened automatically not on my crafter toon, and zos told me tough luck.

So pretty much title. I spent 200 gems on the Outlaw Motif, and I happened to be on a different character that isnt my crafter. I then open my inventory to place the motif in my bank so I could learn it with my crafter, andboom. 200 gems down the drain. I send a ticket, and this is what they told me.

Thank you for your explanation of your current situation, I understand how concerning this must be! As it stands, we are currently unable to restore recipes or motifs that have been learned. This would be unfair to other players as you can not unlearn a recipe once you have obtained the knowledge.

However, It is quite beneficial to your character to have learned such a motif! You can use the product of your newly learned knowledge for:
The benefit of your character during adventures.
The benefit of your friends and guild mates.
The chance to make some extra gold by making the recipe and selling the food or drink in zone chat or guild chat! (This can be quite lucrative)
Leveling up your provisioning skill line further

I mean are you serious now? So because of a glitch I lost 200 gems just like that? Do you guys REALLY expect me to spend MONTHS to get all the traits learned with this character, when I ALREADY have them learned on my crafter? Do not tell me there is nothing you can do. People get rolled back all the time in this game, you guys CAN have the character unlearn it and refund the gems to my account. This is seriously beyond terrible customer service. I spent money on that motif and the reply was pretty much "tough ***"

And even worse, they seem to be confusing motif with food / drink recipe.

Aren't outlaw motifs like 2-5k each? They are one of the cheapest out there. Why spend gems on it? Anyways I do agree you should have it fixed but... I'm just confused by your purchase

Because I was purchasing other stuff too, I have done it in the past and just put it in my bank no problem.

Quite a few of my guildies have had their toons rolled back several levels before during updates / hotfixes.

I had made a new account and with the random crate I bought it had a motif, it would not allow me to move it. So I do understand your frustrations, I'm thinking motifs can't be moved. I do remember reading somewhere something about this ?

I have searched motifs before to buy to increase my library and have never once come across the outlaw motif. I saw it , I liked it, didnt have anything else I wanted for gems, so I got it.

Well, whatever it was, it was outside of my control, seriously not ok the response I got.

ZOS should help as it's an honest mistake. I would request the issue be escalated. It's the decent thing to do and it's in their best interest to help out a customer who has accrued 200 gems.

To avoid incurring customer service costs for this issue in the future, ZOS should make the Crown store motifs transferable between characters on the same account. I can't imagine why it isn't so.

Whether the decision to purchase the Outlaw motif was a bad one is irrelevant.

Thank you, how do you escalate it?

And I looked in a total of 15 guild storesj ust now and only found 1 outlaw armor motif ..... so no wonder I didnt see it before.

Resubmit a new ticket. Be sure to explain you just want it moved to the character you want or refund the gems, so you can then get it the correct character. Not all support people are equally qualified to do their job. Some just read the first line and go with option A, and some read the whole ticket and work within the rules to solve the problem.

I'm not sure about how to escalate an issue in ESO, but every customer service program has an escalation method for 'supervisor' review. I would respond to the CS mail with the request or submit a new ticket. Failing that, I might contact someone like Gina Bruno in the forums.

In the case that @ZOS_GinaBruno can't help you, just keep resubmitting tickets and replying to them every day.

I've learned from personal experience that when ZOS says "they can't" do something, what it really means is "we don't usually" do it. If you're persistent and get your issue sent up the chain of command, you'll find that they actually CAN get it done, they just need some, ah, encouragement.

Just keep at it.

That's kind of weird. Everything I've ever bought from the store that wasn't account-wide was transferrable to the bank. Makes me wary of buying motifs from them.

I think it is. I however cant buy it now because i have no gems. And had to spend my gold I was saving to buy mats for my toon that is about to hit 50 on motifs.....so dumb.

Saved up monthly crowns mostly, and spent money one time because I wanted a mount. WHICH I ended up getting tyvm. And in the process I managed to get a ludicrous amount of doubles, triples, quadruples, etc , of legendary items. However, the amount of garbage I got was mind boggeling, so my hatred toward them has only gotten worse. What I saw as shady before, I see as downright abhorrent now.

And how exactly is just playing the game in cyrodiil and then logging on the next day noticing you lost x amount of hours worth of progress doing stupid things? And how exactly, when I have been able to transfer crown items with no issue in the past through my bank to different toons, is opening my inventory to do said action, a dumb thing? There is no description that says " item will automatically open when inventory is opened " in the motif description. So yeah, you can take your negativity elsewhere.

I don't buy from the crown store but I always open my guild motif purchase delivery mails and combine my runebox and recipe pieces (psijic Ambrosia, sixth house robe, etc.) on my crafter just as a precaution.

Working with software and computers, I know they are not perfect. Having pets at home that jump on my lap while playing also leads to accidental button pushes - sometimes with undesirable results.

Ok really, think about the cost of 200 gems. That's on average at least 15-20 crates worth. Let's be conservative and call it about $50 in value.

Versus the in-game way, buying each motif for 5k or less.

Lesson learned. I did happen to get 3000 crowns out of nowhere tho. Wether that was from Zos handing out crowns for the load screen thread, or for this, I dunno. Havent gotten an email this way or that .

Yeah, my lesson was mega learned. And now that I know of that site, I will be more careful. Pretty silly that I need surgery lvl caution in a game tho. lol. ( Yes I used to assist in oral surgery )
