I swear i dont understand how CTF works or its just stupid.

Ok... i suck it up and play to win when i get CTF, even though i honestly think its horribly designed.

Regardless of how much i like the mode though i cannot for th life of me understand why i can and cannot score a relic sometimes.

I thought it wa sas simple as 'if the other team has your relic then you cant score either of the other teams relics, but multiple times now ive had another teams relic ready to score at our base and our relic isnt in any other teams hands yet i cant score.

also i swear there is like a point where the relic is respawning or something and its nowhere at all...

Maybe its something obvious, but this mode just confuses the heck outta me sometimes.

    If someone dies with it. You need to pick it up so it can return. Is your relic still on the floor at the time or already returned to its altar?

    Maybe its something obvious, but this mode just confuses the heck outta me sometimes.

    When another team as successfully captured your relic you can't turn in another relic until yours has respawned, which takes like 30s to 60s, not sure. Either way that is what most likely is happening. Also your relic won't return to your base unless one of your teammates or yourself retakes it from the ground after you kill the enemy team player that took it.

    It is my favorite game mode, as it takes strategy and intuition to secure a clench victory. I have had lot's of fun matches and some new friends have made from it.

    Without it being ranked there is no strategy to it what-so-ever. It's literally a case of send the noob to whatever flag you're not fighting at and let them run the flag home uncontested.

    Or - See which flag the other two teams are fighting at, run and get the uncontested flag and run it home.

    i have to agree.

    Perhaps for premade teams the strategy aspect of the mode could shine, but in PUGs it is a complete joke.

    Like you said, basically ever match i play two teams go at each other just to fight while the other team runs relics uncontested for the most part and the games over.

    My new strategy in solo queue is to end the game ASAP so i can hopefully get out of there and get TDM or DOM.
    So, i simply wait to see which side two teams collide on and then start running relics from the other side of the map. I ran 5 straight uncontested relics last night in a match while the other teams brawled.
    PuGs will never play this mode "correctly", if there is such a thing.

    ADd to all of that the scoring for this mode is wack. Theres nothing like fighting over relics the whole game...basically PTO, and then ending up with 0 score, lol.

    Bottom line is we need seperate queues, so then people that want to build and strategize for specific game modes can do so, and then there won't be people in objective modes that have no intention of PTO.

    I think there are players who don't know you need to press E to grab the relic if you (or someone else) just killed the flag holder. But you don't need to press anything if it's in the relic spot and you run up to it.

    It's a slight learning curve, no different than any of the DLC dungeons or a Trial. There are mechanics to learn (like not brawling in middle of map the entire match while your relic is being stolen) and PUG's comprised of people new to BG's will struggle. For 15 minutes.

    PUG's can do very successful if even a single member is experienced in BG's and willing to share some strats in chat. What is frustrating is when members refuse to work as a team while they 1vX in the middle of the map during capture matches, then brag about how much damage they did when we lose.

    Here's a few strats that can help with CTF:
    1. If you see a tank coming for your flag, or if the tank picks up your flag, your best bet is to run past the tank and grab its own flag, then come back and try to kill the tank. This prevents the tank from scoring and also takes both of your flags out of base so the third team won't have any targets. If the third team moves up, try to keep the tank in between you and then so they'll focus the tank.
    2. At the start of the match watch and see which teams are going in which directions. If you see them going for each other, try to get an easy cap in. If you see one of them coming for you, try to grab the flag of the third team (because they are probably going for the flag of the team that is coming for you)
    3. If the enemy teams are fighting each other and have each other's flags, position yourself at one of their bases. When they "return" a flag, it goes back immediately, which can lead to an easy easy cap. If their flag gets cappped, however, it'll take time to get back and give them time to grab your own flag to block your score.
    4. In general, it's more effective to try to prevent the other teams from scoring by grabbing their flags rather than trying to block them from grabbing yours. This usually forces a nice battle.

    i think i might have figured out the main issue im having with the messaging in this mode.

    It happens when neither of the other teams has your flag but it is still somewhere on the map not returned to your base.
    when another team has your flag you see it with the outline of the other team over the score or whatever,plus it shows up on the compass, but if it is just sitting out somewhere waiting to be returned it doesnt show up on the compass so you literally have no idea where it is... ?

    No, if it's out of your base then it is still showing on your minimap. The only time it isn't "in play" is immediately after another team captures your relic. It takes about 15 seconds to re spawn.

    hmmm, well i have one video clip that i've watched a few times that i thought looked like what i'm describing, but who knows, lol.

    I've seen this. Our enemies flag went "poof" I thought I grabbed it, then after much waiting for our team to get outs back it just disappeared
